Sony Renames Project Morpheus

Project Morpheus is now PlayStation VR, Sony announced today at its TGS conference.

Sony's virtual reality device has yet to receive a consumer price point, but several virtual reality projects were shown off in a new trailer with the name announcement, including Cyber Danganronpa VR, Final Fantasy 14, a Hatsune Miku demo, RIGS, The Playroom VR, and more.

PlayStation 4 Price Dropped in Japan

PlayStation 4 received a price drop in Japan today. Sony revealed the change during its PlayStation keynote ahead of this week's Tokyo Game Show. Currently priced at ¥39,980, the PS4's new price of ¥34,980 equates to $292.79 USD -- about the equivalent of a $50 reduction.

Sony also announced that Project Morpheus has been formally renamed PlayStation VR.

Dragon Quest Builders Gets Japanese Release Date

Dragon Quest Builders – the block-making RPG set in the established Dragon Quest universe ~ is coming out in Japan on January 28th, 2016.

The release date was revealed at Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference today, but there was no mention of a Western release date. The game is coming to PS Vita, PS3, and PS4.

There's been plentry of Dragon Quest news lately, with the announcements that Dragon Quest 11 will be an offline home console game and Dragon Quests 7 and 8 might be coming to the West.

Star Ocean 5 Release Date Announced in Japan

At TGS today, Square Enix announced that Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness will be released on PS4 in Japan on February 25, 2016.

We still don't have a specific Western release date, though at E3 Square Enix said the title will come West in 2016.

Star Ocean 5 is developed by Tri-Ace in partnership with Square Enix. In June, it was revealed that the game won't have DLC or expansion packs.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Announced

Square Enix has announced Kingdom Hearts II.8: Final Chapter Prologue for PlayStation 4.

The title follows the company's model of releasing three titles in the Kingdom Hearts franchise in one compilation.

Kingdom Hearts II.8 will contain a HD remaster of Dream Drop Distance, along with scenes from Unchained X called Back Cover, set to tell the tale of the Foretellers and revealing new parts of the series' history. The final part of the collection is Birth by Sleep 0.2 - A Fragmentary Passage -, which is a completely new part of the story taking place after the events of the original Birth by Sleep, told from the perspective of Aqua.

The first official trailer for the game will arrive on September 17.

Danganronpa 3 Announced for Vita, PS4

At the Tokyo Game Show today, a new Danganronpa sequel was announced for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4.

This is third main game in the series, following Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, which launched in February 2014 in North America on Vita, followed by Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair in September 2014. A third-person spinoff, Danganronpa: Another Episode -- Ultra Despair Girls, launched on Vita in North America earlier this month.

King of Fighters 14 Announced for PS4

The first glimpse of King of Fighters XIV has been unveiled during Sony's Tokyo Games press conference.

The footage, which features fully 3D fighters, offered few details but confirmed the game would be released on PS4 in 2016.

King of Fighters XIII, the last game in SNK Playmore's long-running fighting series, was initially released back in Japanese arcades in 2010.

New One Piece, Gundam Games Announced

One Piece: Burning Blood and Gundam Extreme VS-Force were announced by Bandai Namco at Sony's TGS conference.

Developed by Spike Chunsoft, One Piece: Burning Blood for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita will focus more on battles and features Devil Fruit.

Gundam Extreme VS-Force for PS Vita will feature machines from the upcoming Gundam anime.

Umbrella Corps: The Multiplayer Resident Evil Game

Capcom has announced Biohazard: Umbrella Corps, a competitive shooter for PC and PS4, set in the Resident Evil universe. The debut trailer featured third- and first-person shooting, melee weapons, cover shooting, zombie "human" shields, and players taking on hordes of zombies.

In North America, the title is simply Umbrella Corps -- no Resident Evil branding in sight.

Umbrella Corps is coming to PS4 in early 2016 for $30 USD. It "will feature quick, intense matches in compact battle zones themed from historic Resident Evil environments," according to Capcom, and is built on the Unity engine.

Dark Souls 3 Release Date Officially Announced

Bandai Namco has officially unveiled the release date for Dark Souls 3. Developer From Software's action RPG will launch on March 24 in Japan. That's a Thursday. so it's unlikely Dark Souls 3 will hit North America at the same time. We've contacted Bandai Namco for more information.

The Japanese website for Dark Souls 3 listed a March release date earlier this week and it was not taken down.
