Ryan Reynolds: Now Is the ‘Right Time’ for Deadpool

Despite the recent glut of superhero movies, Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds reckons now is the "right time" for the Merc with a Mouth.

Speaking to GQ, Reynolds said that the"meta aspect" of Deadpool is important, and will help the film stand out among the more straight-faced superhero offerings.

"I think one of the reasons that Deadpool has gained a lot of momentum isn’t just that it’s funny or isn’t just that it’s rated R," said the actor. "The meta aspect is very important. So I think Deadpool’s coming along at the right time, because it’s also speaking to that generation and that group of people that have seen them all, seen all these comic-book films and enjoyed them all to varying degrees of success. But I think it’s speaking to them as though the guy in that red suit is one of them, to some degree.”

Heroes: Where We Left Off in the Original Series

Heroes returns to NBC this week - on Thursday, September 24th - with a brand new season/miniseries that picks up the story years after 2009's Season 4 finale, "Brave New World."

And because Heroes Reborn directly deals with the fallout from that finale, particularly Claire Bennet revealing her superpowers to the world, we thought a look back was in order - a "catch up" piece to bring us all up to speed on where Heroes left things five years ago. Especially since a number of old faces are set to appear on Reborn. Jack Coleman's Noah Bennet (the one alum who's a part of the regular cast, appearing in the entire season), Greg Grunberg's Matt Parkman, Masi Oka's Hiro Nakamura, and more will be joining a new group of heroes (or "EVOs," as the world deems them) along with Zachary Levi's dark vigilante character, Luke.

Jurassic World 2 Inspired by Alan Grant Quote

Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, who is co-writing and producing the sequel, says the next installment will take its inspiration from a line of dialogue in the first Jurassic Park film.

Trevorrow said he and co-writer Derek Connolly are building on a line from Dr. Alan Grant in the 1993 original for their sequel. "As Trevorrow paraphrased, 'Dinosaurs and man, separated by 65 million years of evolution, have been thrown back into the mix together. How can we know what to expect?'," Trevorrow said on the Jurassic Cast Podcast (via EW).

The 7 Worst Schools in Gaming

Educators have long tried to convince the captive audience of youth that school is, in fact, cool. To very mixed results. Kids are automatically wary of anything adults try to claim is "cool," despite anecdotal evidence to the contrary, and children's television networks are constantly reminding them how dumb adults are. A long day of dry, rote memorization of facts, or perhaps getting knocked on the head by a crumbling asbestos ceiling tile, generally mark the average low-points of the real-world school experience.

But real-life's got nothing on the worst schools video games have to offer. Join us as we learn the ABCs of the worst video game schools.

You know how your school has that one other school that everyone hates? And everyone in that school hates your school, and the whole town gets in on the hate-action when the two schools play each other in sports? Now imagine if members of both schools had to work together to get to the bottom of mysterious kidnappings and attacks. That's pretty much the plot of Rival Schools: United by Fate. Not only are the schools under constant attack, but the students are being brainwashed, and the only way to stop the assaults is through violence against school administrators.

Apple’s WatchOS 2 Finally Available

After a slight launch delay, the second version of Apple's watchOS is now available for download.

The updated operating system for Apple's wearable was supposed to be hitting wrists last week, but was delayed due to a bug. When the watchOS 2 bug was discovered, Apple issued a statement saying the OS would suffer a short delay, but it didn't go into detail as to what the issue was.

The update includes new watch faces, a nightstand mode, and a time-travel feature that doesn't actually allow the wearer to loose the bonds of the space-time-continuum and freely move fourth-dimensionally, but instead allows you to see the upcoming weather and events.

Kickstarter Becomes a Public Benefit Corporation

Kickstarter, the crowdfunding site utilized for Shenmue III and the Veronica Mars movie, has become a public benefit corporation.

That means Kickstarter isn't just focused on profits. Company founder Perry Chen and co-founders Yancey Stickler and Charles Adler issued a statement saying the crowdfunding website also must think about its societal impact.

"Benefit corporations are for-profit companies that are obligated to consider the impact of their decisions on society, not only shareholders," they said. "Radically, positive impact on society becomes part of a benefit corporation’s legally defined goals."

A Visual History of The Transformers in Gaming

Transformers are, at their most basic level, awesome. They're robots that can transform into other things. What's not to love?

The toys appeared on shelves around the same time the video game industry collapsed in the 1980s, but there are still a lot of awesome examples of Transformers video games throughout history. But as was often the case with licensed-games, a lot of the Transformers' appearances in the game world were... not so great. There are a few bright spots in the Transformers' video game history, thankfully.

Take a look at our visual history of transformers in video games:

Graphics do not a good Transformers game make, as can clearly be seen from the history of the franchise. However, the upcoming Transformers: Devastation looks like it could be a winner in the line-up of Transformers games. Developed by Platinum Games, Transformers: Devastation absolutely looks the part of the cartoon series upon which it's based. And that's a good thing.

Whitey’s Camp Slams Johnny Depp’s ‘Gollum’ Portrayal

The new true crime drama Black Mass -- about the FBI's Faustian bargain with Boston gangster-turned-informant James "Whitey" Bulger -- is being taken to task by some of those who knew the mobster, played by in the film by Johnny Depp. These individuals are not fans of the film or Depp's performance, which has been receiving largely positive notices from moviegoers and critics.

(For his part, the incarcerated Bulger refused to meet with Depp or director Scott Cooper and reportedly swears he will never watch the film should it be screened in his prison.)
