Supergirl: New Info on Toyman and Maxwell Lord
CBS's Supergirl took flight at New York Comic Con. Warner Bros. TV screened the pilot of the upcoming superhero series (it will premiere on October 26th) before a panel featuring executive producer Ali Adler and cast members Mehcad Brooks (James Olsen) and Peter Facinelli (Maxwell Lord). Adler discussed bringing the story of Supergirl to life. She said, "We all have a familiarity with Superman. What's amazing for us is we were able to weave our own canvas." She said they plucked the best stories from the comics and invented Alex Danvers. Adler added they hope Alex is as much a supergirl as Supergirl.
The pilot provides Kara Danvers' origin story and though Superman has a presence, he isn't mentioned as being Superman. Adler said, "We're a little coy about it. But we all live in someone's shadow in our lives, and we're all second best to someone in our lives. What's amazing on this show is she gets to be at the forefront, so we're going to address where he is very quickly in the series. But it's her show."
Hateful 8: Tarantino’s 70mm Version Will Be Longer
The Hateful Eight's special 70mm run will be slightly different, and longer, than the general release.
Variety reports that the roadshow version has an overture and intermission, and about six extra minutes of footage. On the whole it will total three hours and two minutes.
Director Quentin Tarantino said he didn't want either version to feel lacking, so he tweaked certain scenes to make it all fit comfortably depending on the version. Specifically, the 70mm sequences utilize "big, long, cool, unblinking takes" that wouldn't work as well in the multiplex.

Captain Marvel Writer Hopes to Avoid ‘Superman Curse’
Screenwriter Meg LeFauve, who's working alongside Guardians of the Galaxy writer Nicole Perlman to co-write Captain Marvel, recently discussed the challenges involved in penning a film centered around such a powerful female lead.
"We have not started yet," LeFauve told Collider. "We just got the phone call to come over to Marvel. But for me personally, the wonderful thing about her and the challenge of her is going to be that she’s a female superhero."
LeFauve continued, highlighting the challenges involved in portraying a character with incredible power who also has her own set of vulnerabilities. In fact, the writer cited Superman as an example of a character whose near-invincibility proves difficult to make dramatically compelling.
Blindspot EP and Cast Tease Hidden Messages and Character Developments
Blindspot recently received a full season order from NBC. Creator and executive producer Martin Gero said, "It was super arrogant of us, but we designed the first season to be a 22-episode first season. We have a huge cliffhanger at the end of episode season 10, and it will pick right back up with episode 11." He appeared at New York Comic Con with cast members Ashley Johnson (Patterson), Audrey Esparza (Tasha Zapata), Rob Brown (Edgar Reade), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Bethany Mayfair), and Sullivan Stapleton (Kurt Weller). They discussed what's ahead for their characters and the revelation that Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) is Taylor Shaw.
Jane still identifies as Jane. That won't change. The reveal will of course have an impact, especially on Kurt. Sullivan said, "The guilt he's carried for 20 or so years will start to wash away. It

Gotham EP and Cast On the Villainous Rise of Season 2
Season 2 of Gotham has been given the tagline "Rise of the Villains," and so far, they're living up to it. At New York Comic Con, Gotham executive producer John Stephens said they're doing a long story over the course of 22 episodes. He said Batman has the best rogues' gallery of villains in comics, and they're leaning into it. They spent Season 1 looking at the mobster type of villains and want to now focus on tracing the trajectory of supervillains to show how they rose to power in Gotham. Stephens was joined at NYCC by cast members Ben McKenzie (Jim Gordon), Michael Chiklis (Nathaniel Barnes), Cory Michael Smith (Edward Nygma), Erin Richards (Barbara Kean), Robin Lord Taylor (Oswald Cobblepot), Jessica Lewis (Tabitha Galavan), and James Frain (Theo Galavan).

Does your iPhone have a power hungry processor?
Last week news broke that the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus feature two different processor chips, one from Samsung and the other from TSMC. Early benchmarking tests showed that their performance was nearly identical. The same can’t be said about the battery life, surprisingly. But how much of a difference is there between the chips?
Initial research showed a 20% difference in battery life between the Samsung and TSMC chips, in favor of the TSMC. But I’m not convinced that there’s any reason for iPhone 6s or 6s Plus owners to exchange their phones with the Samsung processor. While synthetic benchmarks are useful for a baseline comparison, real world performance is completely different. It’s unlikely you’ll notice the battery life difference between the two processors in day to day use, unless you’re running the CPU at full speed constantly.
