Scream 6 has officially been announced by Paramount and Spyglass with the team behind Scream (2022) returning after an incredibly successful release.

Production is expected to begin this summer with James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick writing the script, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, a member of the directing trio Radio Silence, and Tyler Gillett will return to direct.

Venderbilt, a member of the Project X Entertainment production company, will produce Scream 6 alongside colleagues Paul Neinstein and William Sherak.

Executive producing will be series creator Kevin Williamson alongside Spyglass's Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre, plus Radio Silence member Chad Villella.

Spyglass and Paramount said in a statement: "We are tremendously grateful to the fans around the world who enthusiastically received our film.

"We can’t wait for audiences to see what Radio Silence, writers Jamie and Guy, and Project X have in store for our Woodsboro family."

IGN called the latest Scream "amazing". We said: "The 5th entry into the Scream franchise sets up a future for the franchise that some may not have thought possible with a tight story, great performances, and stellar new directions."

The Battlefield 2042 features that DICE delayed its first season pass for have now also been delayed until March.

The much-requested scoreboard update was due to release in February but a Twitter post from the Battlefield Direct Communication page (below) announced it would be delayed until March.

Two days ago on February 1 DICE announced it would be delaying Battlefield 2042's Season One to early summer to instead focus on fixing current issues in the game. It said that implementing a refreshed in-round scoreboard that separates the player's and enemy's teams into two tables would be coming "as soon as possible", meaning mid to late February according to the studio's Twitter post.

But today DICE tweeted again to announce it had pushed out a hotfix to address instability issues caused by the previous update, and in a reply to that post revealed that the scoreboard update would now be delayed.

It said: "Our next update after today's hotfix will roll out in early March. This is a change from our last message to you all on its intended release.

"The extra time will help to ensure we improve the quality of our updates and include additional changes."

Battlefield 2042 was released in November last year with several issues including server connectivity and UI problems, but DICE has said it's committed to bringing "the game up to the highest standards".

IGN said Battlefield 2042 was "good", with its highpoint being the "powerful Portal mode, which lets you relive the series' past glories".

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has announced that Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming and head of Xbox, will receive the AIAS Lifetime Achievement Award at the 25th Annual DICE Awards.

The annual awards show will be held on February 24 in Las Vegas, Nevada where Bethesda Game Studios game director Todd Howard will present Spencer with the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Spencer has been in the video game industry for over 30 years. He joined Microsoft in 1988 as an intern and has been with the company ever since. Spencer began to oversee Xbox starting with the launch of the Xbox One S and has overseen the growth of several key products including the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass.

Under his tenure, the Xbox Game Studios division has grown tremendously as Spencer oversaw key acquisitions including Mojang, ZeniMax Media, and most recently the news that Xbox plans to acquire Activision Blizzard.

“Phil Spencer has demonstrated both passion and leadership throughout his entire career at Microsoft. He’s responsible for countless impactful and pivotal initiatives that have reverberated throughout the entire gaming industry,” says AIAS president Meggan Scavio. “On behalf of the Academy’s Board of Directors, we are looking forward to celebrating Spencer’s important impact on video game history by presenting him with our Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Previous winners of the AIAS Lifetime Achievement award include former Nintendo of America bosses Minoru Arakawa and Howard Lincoln, PlayStation creator Ken Kutaragi, ESA founder Doug Lowenstein, former EA CCO Bing Gordon, former Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, and Nintendo corporate advisor Genyo Takeda.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is joining Fortnite as a character skin. The man behind the mask of long-term character The Foundation will finally be playable for the first time.

Epic Games partner Shiina also revealed on Twitter that Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars will be playable in Fortnite on February 10, but winners of the Silk Sonic Cup on February 7 will get early access to the skins.

The Foundation skin is unlockable through the Chapter 3, Season 1 battle pass alongside his outfit, styles, emote, and other accessories. A full list of the quests required to unlock the items can be found below.

While a statue of The Foundation can be found on the Fortnite island the character hasn't really been featured in the game's story since the end of season two.

The Rock is on a roll in making gaming headlines as last week he revealed he was working on another video game movie. He claims it's "one of the biggest, most badass games", and the internet has been wildly speculating what it could be.

A new report claims that Sony is developing a Madame Web movie, and that Dakota Johnson is in talks to star.

The news comes from Deadline, who say sources that Sony is looking to expand on its Marvel success post-Spider-Man: No Way Home. S.J. Clarkson is apparently attached to direct. She has previously directed episodes of Heroes, Dexter, The Defenders, Jessica Jones, and Succession.

A screenplay has already been written, according to the sources, by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

First appearing Marvel's The Amazing Spider-Man comics, Madame Web (also known as Cassandra Webb) is an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis. She uses a life support system that looks like a spider-web, but her power comes from the fact that she is a precognitive mutant. However, events see her killed and her powers - and blindness - are passed onto Julia Carpenter, a younger woman initially known as the first Spider-Woman. These events see Carpenter take up the mantle and become the second Madame Web.

Sources have stressed to Deadline that the project could turn into something else since the first incarnation of Madame Web never actively fought villains due to her age and condition. However, the film may well be focussed on Julia Carpenter, which would make more sense in the current superhero landscape.

The same sources say that Sony executives have spent a period of time meeting with a number of actors as part of a hunt for a female leading role. Within the last two months, Johnson has become the front-runner and is now apparently in talks to star. The report does not clarify who Johnson is in talks to play, but chances are it could well be Julia Carpenter.

It's no surprise to learn that Sony wants to double down on its Marvel and Spider-Man efforts; No Way Home has topped the domestic box office for six weeks almost uninterrupted. Apparently big characters were cut from the movie, and so further films in the series could further explore characters that were merely potential beforehand.

GameStop is launching an NFT marketplace later this year in partnership with an Australian blockchain startup called Immutable X.

It will also fund up to $100 million worth of Immutable X's IMX tokens to grant creators NFT content and technology, the company announced today.

GameStop said creators from gaming studios, web 3.0, metaverse gaming developers, and elsewhere can request to become a content creator on its marketplace.

The company's interest in NFTs was revealed last month by The Wall Street Journal when it hired more than 20 new staff members to run an NFT division.

The industry is relatively untested but GameStop may be pursuing the alternative business venture after struggling in the physical gaming space in recent years.

NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are essentially one-of-a-kind pieces of online content that can be bought and sold - imagine fine-art collecting but digitally. As with bitcoin, any records or exchanges are kept in online ledgers called blockchains.

Voice actor Troy Baker, known for roles in The Last of Us, Uncharted, and more, recently ventured into NFTs before quickly withdrawing, thanking fans for their "feedback and patience" after significant outcry.

Ubisoft is also working with NFTs despite a similar reaction but a company executive commented that "gamers don't get it"

EA too expressed positivity but appears to be treading with more caution and has said it's "not driving hard" in the direction of NFTs.

The nominees for the 2022 BAFTA Film Awards have been announced — and Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi epic Dune is leading the pack this year with 11 nominations.

TV presenter AJ Odudu and comedian Tom Allen unveiled the nominations for the 75th British Academy Film Awards during a live presentation on Thursday. Dune led the nominations with 11 nods across various categories, including the coveted Best Film category, which also features Belfast, Don't Look Up, Licorice Pizza, and The Power of the Dog.

Jane Campion's western The Power of the Dog secured eight nominations in total, including a shout in the Best Director category, while Kenneth Branagh's film memoir Belfast followed closely behind with six nominations. Licorice Pizza, No Time to Die, and West Side Story also received multiple mentions, earning five nominations apiece.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Will Smith were amongst those featured in the Leading Actor category this year, with Smith receiving his first-ever BAFTA nomination for his role as the father of Serena and Venus Williams in King Richard. Meanwhile, the Leading Actress list includes the likes of Tessa Thompson, Alana Haim, and Lady Gaga.

Prime Video has revealed more than 20 posters featuring characters from the show – but only showing the hands, clothing and equipment of each one.

The upcoming Prime Video adaptation will explore Middle-earth's Second Age as a series, showing us the forging of the titular rings, and Sauron's rise to power.

Speaking of Sauron, that's almost certainly a Dark Lord's gauntlet in our slideshow of all the character posters below. It's might be a question of which Dark Lord, though - we could potentially be looking at Sauron's original master, Morgoth:

For a show this big, and this close (it premieres in September), we've learned precious little about it so far. We only discovered the title last month (which included a snazzy practical title sequence), and gotten the merest hint of Morfydd Clark's Galadriel speaking. Very few characters have been confirmed aside from Galadriel, either.

Season One of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power wrapped filming in New Zealand in August 2021. Envisioned as a multi-season saga, Season 2 will film in the U.K. Amazon Studios previously announced that pre-production on Season 2 will begin in early 2022.

Netflix has revealed its upcoming film slate for 2022, and with The Adam Project, Enola Holmes 2, and Knives Out 2, it’s a big year for the streamer.

January was a decent month for binge-watchers, with Netflix debuting After Life, Archive 81, the newest season of Ozark, and mystery-comedy The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window. There’s plenty of new TV to get stuck into, but now it looks as though there are a ton of new films coming later in the year, too – in fact, Netflix is promising new movies every week.

First up, we have Texas Chainsaw Massacre later this month, a sequel to the classic 1974 horror movie. Then in March, there’s the new Ryan Reynolds sci-fi flick, The Adam Project, which sees the Deadpool actor become a time-traveling pilot.

The rest of the year looks pretty great, too, with films starring Ana de Armas, Halle Berry, Chris Evans, Jamie Foxx, Ryan Gosling, and plenty of others.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre – February 18, 2022

A sequel to the classic slasher movie, Texas Chainsaw Massacre puts a modern spin on the horror franchise. Melody (Sarah Yarkin) and her millennial hipster friends head to Harlow, Texas in search of new opportunities. Seeking to gentrify the small American town, they soon butt heads with the locals… and find themselves in the sights of a cold-blooded killer.

Expect timeline paradoxes and plenty of witty one-liners from Reynolds.

Choose or Die – April 15, 2022

A dark take on 1980s video game culture, Choose or Die stars Iola Evans as a young coder and college dropout who fires up an obscure retro survival horror game. There’s an unclaimed $125,000 prize hidden somewhere in the game, but she soon finds the game has unleashed a curse upon her, forcing her into dangerous choices and reality-tearing challenges. No longer playing for the money, Choose or Die turns into a game of survival. There’s no Alt-F4.

Senior Year – May 13, 2022

Rebel Wilson stars in Senior Year, a comedy in which a teenage cheerleads falls off a pyramid and into a coma… only to wake up 20 years later as a 37-year-old woman. It’s described as Bring It On meets Never Been Kissed, and sees Wilson returning to high school to regain her status and finally become the prom queen she should have been.

Star Wars fans are desperate to see Sebastian Stan play a young Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian… and he’s not saying no.

During an interview with Esquire, the 39-year-old Marvel actor responded to fan demands for him to pick up a lightsaber as a young version of the iconic Jedi.

“Look, it's really kind,” he said. “Never say never."

"Mark Hamill is my father, you know," he went on to joke. "And he knows that, and I call him every Christmas to tell him, ‘Just… Just want you to know I'm around.’ It's really terrifying.”

A younger version of Luke Skywalker appeared in the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, and again in a recent episode of The Book of Boba Fett.

Unfortunately, it’s not Sebastian Stan behind the appearance.

Young Skywalker is actually played by stand-in, Graham Hamilton, with some impressive visual effects providing the younger Jedi’s face. Meanwhile, original Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill, recorded the character’s voice.

After Lucasfilm hired the deep fake YouTuber who improved upon The Mandalorian’s de-aging work, it looks as though this visual effects approach is what we ended up with in The Book of Boba Fett.

The result is pretty impressive… but fans are still desperate to see Sebastian Stan, who’s a dead ringer for the young Mark Hamill, pick up the role.

Even Mark Hamill has previously shown his support for Stan.

“He's a wonderful actor,” he told Good Morning America. "People say, 'Will you support him to be the young Luke Skywalker when they make those movies?' And I thought, he doesn't need me. He's an accomplished enough actor to get in on his own. And I shouldn't put my thumb on the scale because it's not my choice, it's Disney and Lucasfilm, and I don't want to cut short any other potential Lukes. I'd love to work with him. Heck, I'd play his father any day.”

The Book of Boba Fett stars Temuera Morrison as the classic Star Wars bounty hunter alongside Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand.
