Star Wars Battlefront: EA Feels ‘Very Good’ About 13 Million Sales

During a call with investors today, EA revised its earlier estimate of Star Wars Battlefront sales numbers, increasing the total by 3 million copies.

"We feel very good about 13 million units," EA chief operating officer Peter Moore said. In May of this year, EA was aiming for 10 million copies of Star Wars Battlefront.

Calling its Battlefront and Battlefield franchises "two bookends," the earlier prediction took the historical Battlefront games into account, which normally sell around 9 million copies, and revised it based on the excitement surrounding the Star Wars license attached to the upcoming game.

EA Infographic Touts World-Leading Stats

Electronic Arts was the top publisher in the west on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One during the company's latest fiscal quarter.

The publisher has released an infographic, providing a look at player engagement across its biggest franchises from July to September. Give it a look below.

Thanks to the successful launches of Madden NFL 16, NHL 16, and FIFA 16, EA's sport-centric franchises saw a year-over-year monthly player increase of 30 percent. Meanwhile, Bioware's Star Wars: The Old Republic saw a subscriber boost of 33 percent in light of Knights of the Fallen Empire's announcement earlier this year.

Dota 2: Haunted Colosseum Revealed

Valve has unveiled a new custom game type for Dota 2 called Haunted Colosseum.

In this "new kind of battle full of clever mischief and cruel treachery," two teams face off in a fight to capture five Control Points scattered about the map and be the first to achieve 5,000 points.

Once a team has captured three Control Points, its score will rise, and capturing more will cause that number to climb even faster. Various traps will be at players' disposal, including those of the Spike, Fire, Venom, and Pendulum variety.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Delayed

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has been delayed to May 24 2016. Electronic Arts announced the delay for DICE’s first-person parkour game.

"We will use these few extra months to make sure that when you step into the massive City of Glass and experience the rise of Faith, it’s as entertaining, impressive, and memorable as it can be," said Senior Producer Sara Jansson.

First Spidey Director Would Love to Help Marvel

The original Spider-Man trilogy director Sam Raimi admits that he "messed up" with Spider-Man 3, but says he would "love" to be given another chance - perhaps with Marvel's upcoming reboot of the character.

In an interview with The Week, Raimi says, "I messed up on the third one."

He added, "I think they're so complete now, Marvel. They probably don't need me anymore. But if they needed me? I'd love to. It's great to be wanted."

Raimi also remarked on Spider-Man's roller-coaster history in film, admitting that he's "not really on top of" Spider-Man's various incarnations.

Wil Wheaton Joins PlayStation’s Powers: Season 2

Exciting news, Powers fans: Wil Wheaton is coming soon to a PlayStation near you. IGN can reveal that the Star Trek: The Next Generation and Big Bang Theory actor will be joining the show in Season 2 as a character who will soon be introduced in the Powers comics.

Brian Michael Bendis, an executive producer on Powers and co-creator of the comics, says this new character will be revealed in upcoming issues. Wheaton's character on the show is described as "exciting, mysterious and powerful."

Powers: Season 2 is currently in production in Atlanta, and will be following the "Who Killed Retro Girl?" storyline from Vol. 1 of the comics. The plot will have the Powers Division investigating the murder of the world famous superhero Retro Girl (Michelle Forbes) and "the mysteries that her death uncovers." Sharlto Copley, Susan Heyward, Michael Madsen and Tricia Helfer also star.

Sleepy Hollow/Bones Crossover Preview: Beware Blue Flame

A very notable and unusual TV crossover is occurring Thursday night, as Bones' and Sleepy Hollow's characters meet and team-up across both shows.

IGN has an exclusive clip from the Sleepy Hollow portion of the crossover, showing Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) in a very dangerous situation - while Booth (David Boreanaz) and Abbie (Nicole Beharie) race to try and save them. You can see the entire crossover beginning Thursday, October 29th at 8:00pm ET/PT on FOX with Bones, followed by Sleepy Hollow at 9:00pm ET/PT.
