The Park Is Coming to Consoles

Funcom has announced that its psychological horror game The Park will be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in early 2016.

A price hasn't yet been announced for the two-hour horror experience's console release, but it'll likely be in the ballpark of the PC version's $13 USD pricetag.

The Park is Funcom's first single-player game since the 2006 release of Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, and this release also marks the company's first console game in almost 10 years.

The Park first came out on PC last month, just in time for Halloween. An exploration-based, story-heavy game, it a woman named Lorraine whose son goes missing in a dilapidated theme park. In her search, players will unravel her story and the history of the park.

9 Best Stealth Missions in Games

Stealth design has a particular art to it, and the best stealth missions in games are timeless, unforgettable, and the sort of thing you’ll talk about for years. The sense of power comes not from force, but from staying out of sight.

The delicate balance of tension and release in terrific stealth missions make for some of the greatest moments, levels, and encounters in games — and these are the nine best stealth missions that do it best.

A Change in Course begins as a standard Mark of the Ninja mission — which already guarantees that it’s excellent — but takes an interesting and exciting turn to differentiate itself. The 2D stealth game tasks you with opening gas vents and setting an entire building on fire, all while evading or assassinating patrolling enemies. Gadgets, shadows, and careful timing are necessary to get through A Change in Course, which ends with a fast-paced escape from the fire — and the frantic enemies you’ll leave burning behind.

Production on Dark Souls 3 Began Without Miyazaki

Dark Souls 3 broke ground without series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki at the helm. Miyazaki told IGN:

“When the idea for Dark Souls 3 came to me it was from From’s President. Not the idea itself, but the president asked me to get on the Dark Souls 3 project for which the prototyping was hitting some speed bumps.”

The suggestion came while Miyazaki was working on Bloodborne, but coincided with a desire to return to the series and a more dark fantasy setting. “I was reminiscing of the things I could have done in Dark Souls that weren’t possible in Bloodborne, and was reminded of the beauty of fantasy. It was the perfect time to return to Dark Souls… and inject some new ideas.”

In a new roundup of gameplay issues and workarounds for Star Wars Battlefront, EA has outlined what to do if you're suffering poor performance when using dual graphics cards.

"A driver issue causes dual graphics card setups, such as Crossfire or SLI, to suffer performance drops," says EA. "Graphics card manufacturers are working on a driver update for this issue... In the meantime, disable one graphics card to avoid performance problems."

On Windows, you can disable your secondary graphics card by going to Device Manager > Display Adapters, right-clicking on your graphics card and selecting disable. EA also wants to remind you to re-enable your card after you're done playing.

Nicholas Hoult Gets Behind Mad Max Oscar Push

Ncholas Hoult has been talking about Mad Max: Fury Road’s Oscar chances, saying he hopes the films gets considered by the Academy, especially its director George Miller.

Action films rarely get Best Picture nods, but ever since its summer release, filmmakers and critics alike have been talking up the movie’s chances.

“Of course I’d get behind that – that would be phenomenal” Hoult said. “I think for George that’s something that he deserves. That’s the odd thing about awards season – by the way it comes around so quickly – I think we just handed out awards the other day and already people are talking about who’s going to win things this year. There are certainly award-bait movies where ‘these are the things you do’ and then you win awards or this and that and this type of movie. It would be nice if it got mixed up a little bit in that sense."

iZombie: What’s Major Really Up To?

Last week’s iZombie had a big revelation at the end, as we discovered Major (Robert Buckley) isn’t actually killing zombies, as he’s been ordered to by Vaughn Du Clark (Steven Weber), but storing them away in a freezer. I visited the Vancouver set of iZombie this week -- I’ll have more soon from that visit -- where Buckley remarked, “It’s such a huge reveal because up until this point it’s been really tough to settle with the fact that our white knight is killing people. It was a nice relief to see he’s not. He hasn’t turned into a completely cold-blooded killer.”

Buckley added, “I think that was the way of showing he’s kind of working on a secret plan and he has to go through the motions because he knows he’s being watched. To me, he’s not killing anyone yet. He’s buying himself some time to figure out a way to not kill anyone.”
