Composer Proposes With Help of Mobile Game Easter Egg

There's a lot of unique ways to pop the question, like livestreaming it on the Internet for example, but composer Barry Leitch found one particularly clever way: through the mobile game Horizon Chase.

The development team at Aquiris Game Studios was happy to help, and they concocted an easter egg to help Barry propose to his girlfriend Karen. They recorded the whole process in a short Twitter video, detailing the set-up and the team's concept.

Karen was to go to a local bakery, under the guise of a documentary being made about game development and the strain of long hours on the team's relationships. Cameras were set up, the stage was set, and Barry had her demo the game while they talked on Skype. He asked her to draw a heart shape on the screen, and when it did, the proposal popped up. The result?

Killing Floor 2 Developer Defends Microtransactions

Killing Floor 2 developer Tripwire Interactive has addressed concerns over its recent decision to add microtransactions to the first-person shooter that is in Steam Early Access.

The developer announced today that Killing Floor 2 would be getting a new online store called the Trading Floor. In the Trading Floor, you can buy in-game items with Steam Wallet funds. Weapons will be dropped in-game for free or, based on rarity, will drop as a crate or USB stick that need a purchasable decryption key to unlock and obtain the item.

Most of these weapon skins are player-made and their creators get a cut of the sale anytime their item is purchased. The rest of the money will help fund free content in the future, according to the Trading Floor's FAQ page.

New to Netflix for December 2015

December's coming up quick and Netflix is ready to unleash a flood of new original programming - as if their November wasn't already filled with new high-profile shows.

Again, you can witness here the surplus of new original shows and the decline of the company's usual slate of blockbuster movies. Darkman, The Da Vinci Code, Ray, and - probably - Stir of Echoes are the biggest "known" movies coming in. The rest are standup specials, a Bill Murray holiday celebration, animated shows for the kids (like The Croods' new series), and comedian-driven shows and movies from the likes of Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, and Bill Burr.

The Force Awakens Predicted To Earn In $170M Opening Weekend

Star Wars fans are anxious to see the new film, and according to Variety, The Force Awakens is already projected to hit $170 million in its opening box office weekend.

With $50 million in advance ticket sales already, Episode VII already has a strong start. This number pales, however, compared to recent box office successes.

Jurassic World already holds the current opening weekend box office record with $208.8 million, closely followed by Marvel's 2012 blockbuster The Avengers at $207.4 million. At its projected rate, The Force Awakens won't beat Avengers sequel Age of Ultron, which opened to a $191.3 million weekend.

5 Hunger Games Stories Perfect for Comics

The The Hunger Games movie series has come to an end, and the books have been wrapped up for years, so that means we’re all out of Hunger Games. Instead of wallowing in sadness, we’ve whipped up a list of potential Hunger Games comics that could continue the franchise.

Comic books are less time-consuming than a novel and way cheaper than producing a TV show or spin-off movie, making them the perfect medium to deliver these other side stories we’d like to see. We’ve seen other properties we love like Firefly, Doctor Who, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer use comics to continue to tell their stories, and we’d love for Hunger Games to do the same.

As captivating and exciting as Suzanne Collins’s writing is, she sure does skimp on the details. This isn’t a slight against her writing -- in fact, we admire her for her lean and straight-forward storytelling -- but it does mean there’s a lot of gaps to fill in. She’s already told the complete story of Katniss, so these are stories of other characters, times, and places that we would love to read in a comic book.

Star Wars Battlefront’s Free New Mode Revealed

The Battle of Jakku DLC will introduce a new mode, known as Turning Point, which dramatises the events which took place on the planet shortly following the Battle of Endor. These are the same events that created the debris we've glimpsed in trailers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The mode features a beleaguered Imperial army holding out against forces of the New Republic, buoyed by their recent victory at the Battle of Endor.

Here's how lead level designer Dennis Brannvall describes the mode: "At the edge of the map, the Empire has constructed a make-shift base as well as smaller fortifications strewn across the landscape. Following an emergency landing, the Rebels need to locate the enemy bases to attack and take control of them all.
