Gabe Newell Simulator Enters Full Release
If you've ever wanted to experience first-hand what it's like to not release Half-Life 3, you're in luck. Gabe Newell Simulator is now out of early access and released version 1.0 today.
The game is split into two halves, to better show the duality of man. On the one side, the simulation explores the life of the man known as GabeN as he manages the day-to-day operations of Valve software.
From fighting against other software companies, to wearing a modified Half-Life HEV suit, to deciding the ultimate fate of Half-Life 3, the game looks to be a reasonable approximation of what we all imagine GabeN's life is really like.
John Romero Shares Super Mario Bros. 3 Demo for PC
To celebrate Commander Keen's 25-year anniversary, id Software co-founder John Romero has shared the demo that started it all for the platforming series.
Romero and company actually created a PC demo version of Super Mario Bros. 3 in 1990, which they reportedly pitched to Nintendo. However, Nintendo said no, so the team utilized the side-scrolling tech created for the demo to power Commander Keen.

Batman v Superman: Doomsday Isn’t Just Dawn of Justice’s Final Act
Batman v Superman production designer Patrick Tatopoulos shared a few new details on Doomsday's appearance in Dawn of Justice, teasing an even bigger threat for the film's trio of heroes.
In an interview with Premiere (translation via Heroic Hollywood), Tatopoulos discussed the DC villain's big screen debut, saying he'll be handheld a bit differently than he was in the comics.
"We are able to tell a story in a fresh way," he said. "Doomsday is an evolution essentially. Fans may be aware of the death of Superman story, but this is handled in such a new way. When the film is called Batman v or versus Superman, it really has a lot of levels to the meaning. Superman isn't just killed off at the end of something. We see how he evolves as part of Lex's plan to protect the world."
Why Gwendoline Christie Fought So Hard for a Role in Star Wars
The Force Awakens hasn't even hit theaters, and already several of its new additions to the Star Wars canon have become iconic. There's Kylo Ren's crossguard lightsaber, the adorable rolling droid BB-8 and, in an updated take on a Star Wars classic, a statuesque Stormtrooper in chrome armor.
Little is known about Captain Phasma beyond her reflective armor and allegiance to the villainous First Order, but one key detail was revealed in casting the character: Phasma is a she. Gwendoline Christie, best known for playing Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones, petitioned for a role in the new Star Wars movie for months and eventually landed the Stormtrooper commander role.

Overclocked: Hardcore vs. Casual – Who Matters More?
Ryan McCaffrey joins Mitch Dyer and Sean Finnegan to discuss Counter-Strike's controversial R8 pistol, the brilliance of comedy games -- in particular, Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle, both of which are getting HD updates -- and the delicate balance developers strike when making deep games for a certain kind of player.
Rainbow Six Siege and Star Wars Battlefront lack campaigns, and some say depth as a result -- but is that true? Is it a problem? Or is there more to it? We dig into it, and don't necessarily agree.
Game of Thrones’ Dance in Ghostbusters Reboot
Game of Thrones star Charles Dance will appear in the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot.
The actor, best known for his role as the conniving patriarch of the Lannister family, Tywin Lannister, has a role in the new Ghostbusters, according to Inverse. The Boston Herald was also able to confirm Dance's role, which was mostly filmed in Boston.
Dance may have played an excellent villain in Game of Thrones, but Sony has not specified what his role will be in Ghostbusters. The antagonist for the Paul Feig-directed reboot has not been revealed yet, but you might recall Gozer the Gozerian, a genderless god who took the form of a female, and Vigo the Carpathian were the villains from the first two movies.
Was Han Legally Justified to Shoot First?
Sure, Han shot first, but was it a justifiable homicide?
Law blog The Legal Geeks (via Vulture) examined the question assuming the Empire has a similar legal structure to our own common law. The answer? Han could have claimed self-defense and gotten off scot-free.
As the legal experts note, Greedo had his weapon pointed at Han and had made a verbal threat. That's more than enough to justify the use of deadly force in self-defense, in order to prevent Greedo's own "imminent and unlawful use of deadly force." In other words, shooting first is fine, because if he hadn't, Greedo would've shot him.
