BB-8 Recreated with 3D Printing
A former Ubisoft Montréal employee has recreated BB-8, the cute robot companion from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with 3D printing.
Measuring in at about half the size as the real BB-8, J.R. Bedárd, a Canadian software engineer, was inspired to make the robot after seeing it at Star Wars Celebration last April. You can watch his creation in action in the video below.
"I've completed a couple of 3D-printing projects before and wanted to create my own (remote-controlled) version of this droid, on wheels," Bedárd told Live Science. "Being on wheels meant that I could add more 3D details and elements on the shell of the robot, as it doesn't need to be flat for rolling."
Major League Gaming Reportedly Bought by Activision Blizzard
Major League Gaming as we once knew it is through. eSports Observer reports that MLG's Board of Director's have approved an asset purchase agreement that gives Activision Blizzard "substantially all" of the company's assets.
The sale was approved as a "corporate action taken without a stockholders' meeting by less than unanimous written consent" of stockholders. Stockholders not involved in the decision were informed through a letter sent out on December 22, eSports Observer says.
However, Series B shareholder and eSports personality Scott "SirScoots" Smith says he was only notified yesterday.
NASA Photographs What It Calls a Space Lightsaber
The Force is apparently quite strong in the Milky Way, as a new photo from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope looks an awful lot like a double-bladed lightsaber.
Check out the clip from NASA below to see the image, which was taken of a newborn star within the confines of our very own galaxy. In fact, it was specifically found in the Orion B molecular cloud complex, a "turbulent birthing ground for new stars" that's 1,350 light-years away.
"Science fiction has been an inspiration to generations of scientists and engineers, and the film series Star Wars is no exception," NASA astronaut John Grunsfeld said. "There is no stronger case for the motivational power of real science than the discoveries that come from the Hubble Space Telescope as it unravels the mysteries of the universe."

Mark Hamill Says Acting in Star Citizen Like ‘Being a Child Again’
After working on Wing Commander in 1990 with Chris Roberts, Mark Hamill didn't expect to star in a video game again. It's not that he didn't enjoy it—he did, immensely.
"I had such a great time the first time around," Hamill told PC Gamer. When he asked to join the cast of Squadron 42, Hamill said he didn’t need to see the script. "I said ‘count me in!’ Of course my agent said, ‘you didn’t tell him that, did you? Play hard to get for God’s sake!"
The Star Wars actor plays Lt. Commander Steve 'Old Man' Colton, the player's mentor and a seasoned pilot. "He’s a blunt guy, a lifer," Hamill said. "They say he doesn’t teach people as much as hammer them into shape, but he’s a true believer in the cause."

New Zootopia Trailer
Walt Disney Animation Studios released a new trailer for Zootopia, and as expected, it's adorable. The two minute clip gives us a peak into what's happening in the bustling city—"a melting pot where animals from every environment live together." Check it out below:
From the directors of Tangled and Wreck it Ralph, Zootopia follows Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), two natural-born enemies in our universe, who are forced to work together to solve a huge case—who's turning the animals of the city savage?
The new trailer shows bright-eyed Judy moving to the city and starting her career as Zootopia's first rabbit officer. She's underestimated for her small stature, and with the help of Nick, a con-artist who's supposedly a "key witness" to the crime, she sets out to prove to her coworkers that she's more than just a parking cop.
Force Awakens Script Offers New Details on the Ending
For awards consideration, Disney has released the screenplay for Star Wars: The Force Awakens to the Writers Guild, which provides new insight into the film's ending and other key plot points.
Note: Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoilers below.
According to the script, the planet on which Rey (Daisy Ridley) meets Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) during the film's final moments is called "Ahch-to" and is said to feature a "pristine and mighty" ocean that is "dotted with random, beautiful, mountainous black rock islands," as well as "countless green trees." Not much is known about the planet, but /Film notes that Ahch-to is Hebrew for brother, which may be a clue as to Rey's relation to Luke.
