Are These Netflix’s Viewership Numbers?

If NBC Universal's numbers are right, then some of Netflix's top shows don't stack up to NBC favorites like The Voice and Blind Spot. The company announced that it's found a way to track numbers for the popular streaming service.

"The notion that they are replacing broadcast TV may not be quite accurate," said President of Research and Media Development Alan Wurtzel at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today.

His numbers come from Symphony, a San Francisco company that uses viewing preferences by using "audio content recognition technology software loaded on to users' phones that tracks viewership by capturing the soundtrack of a program.

The research showed that from September through December, Marvel's Jessica Jones averaged around 4.8 million viewers, while Narcos brought in 3.2 million viewers. Aziz Ansari's comedy Master of None, Wurtzel said, had 3.9 million viewers.

Supergirl: What’s in Store for Martian Manhunter

Supergirl delivered a big surprise a few weeks back, when it was revealed that David Harewood’s Hank Henshaw was in fact actually the alien J’onn J’onzz, known to DC Comics fans as the Martian Manhunter.

During a visit to the set of Supergirl this week, Harewood and the producers discussed this notable reveal and what it means for the character and show.

Supergirl EP Andrew Kreisberg had previously revealed that the seeds of making Hank actually J’onn began while the pilot was being filmed and the producers observed that Harewood would make a great J'onn - only for DC’s Geoff Johns to suggest they simply make that the case.

Robin War #2 Shakes Up the Batman Family

DC released Robin War #2 today, capping off a month-long crossover featuring just about every character to call themselves "Robin."

Warning: this article contains spoilers for Robin War #2!

This issue followed the climactic battle between the Court of owls (temporarily led by Damian Wayne) and the many Robins of Gotham City while a captive Dick Grayson looked on. The Robins ultimately won the day, but not without a cost. Duke Thomas has turned his back on his fellow Robins, deciding that they aren't yet worthy to carry the name.

TFA Won’t Outgross Avatar, Transformers 4 in China

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is "falling faster than expected in China" after opening well in the world's second-biggest film market on January 8, and is not expected to outgross other such Hollywood imports as Furious 7, the Transformers sequels, and, yes, Avatar -- meaning the J.J. Abrams-directed film's shot at toppling James Cameron's sci-fi blockbuster as the No. 1 movie of all time worldwide is not possible.

According to Forbes, The Force Awakens' "speculative $150 million finish would be a larger Chinese total than Spectre ($83m), Terminator Genisys ($112m), The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies ($121m), Iron Man 3 ($121m), and Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation ($136m). But if that over/under $150m total plays out (and of course this isn’t set in stone), it’ll have earned noticeably less than Transformers: Dark of the Moon ($165m), Avatar ($209m), Jurassic World ($228m), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($240m), Transformers: Age of Extinction ($320m), and Furious 7 ($390m)."

This Is How You Make Your Own Yarny

Coldwood Interactive's Martin Sahlin promised fans that he'd put together a tutorial for making Unravel's charming star, Yarny. Today, he came through on that promise.

You'll need red yarn, white yarn, wire, pliers, scissors, and a paper clip. You'll use the wire—Sahlin recommends armature wire—for Yarny's body. After creating a skeleton, you'll use your red yarn to wrap up the wire, starting from the legs. Move on to the body, and finally, the head, which Sahlin says is the trickiest part. Once the head is wrapped, use the paperclip to tie off the yarn and sew on some eyes. You'll find more detailed instructions on the Unravel website.
