Star Wars, Nintendo Toys Featured in Obama YouTube Interview
UPDATE: Nintendo has chimed in on the image, issuing a shout out to a YouTube content creator for the decoration. We've since learned the toys aren't those of the White House staffers and were actually brought in as part of a set dressing, although we're still holding out hope Obama is a big Amiibo fan.
Love your choice of decorations, @sWooZ1e! https://t.co/P2C8hItRAj pic.twitter.com/fOiqGMBgQs

The Division Will Have Free Post-Launch Content
Speaking at an event in Los Angeles last week, Creative Director of Ubisoft Massive Magnus Jansén announced that Tom Clancy's The Division will not only have post-launch DLC, but also free updates as well.
"An online game isn't done on release day. We've been working on this game for quite a while, and we're very happy to release it, but our work is not done then. We're gonna kick
off with a couple of free updates, new content and new features, and down the line we'll have normal DLC as well."
While specifics of what the updates and DLC would contain remained a mystery, Jansén committed to supporting The Division well after it's launch on March 8th. "We're not ready to go into detail, but we just wanted to let you know that we know that… you can't just abandon it when it's released, we know it takes a lot more than that."
Next Week’s Rock Band 4 DLC Features Grunge Legends
Monday's a holiday, so Rock Band 4 developer Harmonix is sharing next week's DLC a little early. On January 19, Rock Band 4 goes grunge.
Available for download in the Rock Band 4 store on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are Soundgarden's "My Wave," Stone Temple Pilot's "Wicked Garden," and Temple of the Dog's "Hunger Strike." "Hunger Strike" features dual lead vocals from Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder, which, according to Harmonix, makes for "great vocal gameplay," in addition to "phenomenal guitar, drum, and bass parts." Soundgarden's "My Wave" is from the band's hit album Superunknown, and Stone Temple Pilot's "Wicked Garden" has never been commercially released, though still considered "a career defining song."
Is This How Spider-Man Will Make His MCU Debut?
Tom Holland will make his big screen debut as Spider-Man later this year in Captain America: Civil War, and it looks like details regarding the web-slinging hero's grand entrance may have just leaked.
Warning: Potential spoilers for Captain America: Civil War ahead.
According to Geek.com, Spider-Man may be teaming up with Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) after looking up to Iron Man ever since he was a little boy. "Peter started becoming Spidey because he grew up and idolized Tony," a source close to the film told the outlet.
FOX Open to Considering Gotham Spinoff
With networks like The CW and ABC growing their comic book TV show franchises into expanded universes, FOX isn't against similarly expanding the world of Gotham.
Speaking with IGN after FOX's executive session at the 2016 winter Television Critics Association press tour, FOX Chairman and CEO Gary Newman said the network would "certainly be open to considering" potential Gotham spinoffs, though those creative decisions would need to go through DC.
"We're really happy with the creative on Gotham this year," he said. "We thought the Rise of the Villains has been great, and it feels like a world that has many, many stories to tell. We haven't had any conversations with Warners about whether or not they'd want to do a spinoff series. I think that would be an issue for DC. It isn't quite clear to me that they'd be ready to do that, but it's a good idea."
Diablo 3 Update Hurts Console Performance
UPDATE: Blizzard reached out to us to say it's "currently researching reported issues," and promises to keep the community updated "as soon as we have new information." In the meantime, Blizzard asked affected users comment in the thread on its forums, listed in the story below, so it can try to "reproduce the issues internally."
Diablo 3's most recent patch has caused serious lag and frame rate issues for some console players.
A user brought up the problems on the game's Battle.net forum, saying "As soon as I downloaded the patch I went into a t10 rift and my goodness it's lagging so bad. When there's density it's terrible it's even creating button lag." The user then asked if anyone else was having issues.
John Romero Makes His First Doom Level in 21 Years
Doom creator John Romero says it had been 21 years since he made a level for the game. However, that changed when he created his own iteration of the classic E1M8 map.
The dev used a Doom level editor to create it, limiting himself only to the "shareware assets." The original level was created by Doom I and Doom II level designer Sandy Peterson. Romero included the Dropbox download link for his version in a Facebook post today.
Doom's fourth installment is said to release in Q2 of 2016, but IGN reported that the date may have been leaked by Amazon France. The company listed the game's release as June 30, though Besthesda remains firm that they haven't yet set a date, saying that "a variety of retailers have different placeholder dates."
Nintendo President Publishes His Plans for the Company’s Future
Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has revealed some of his plans for the company in 2016.
The plans were published in the Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shimbun, and subsequently translated by games industry consultant Dr. Serkan Toto. They offer hints about Nintendo's upcoming console — codename NX — as well as intentions for anime, and mobile apps.
Regarding the NX, Kimishima says the company isn't looking to build on old ideas, but offer entirely new ones. Nintendo will offer more concrete details sometime this year, however, Kimishima made no mention of the console actually arriving in 2016. Nintendo also plans to branch its characters further out of its traditional games. Smartphones and theme parks are one thing, but "TV anime" with licensed characters is also on the docket.
The Walking Dead: Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan Gave Robert Kirkman Goosebumps
Walking Dead fans aren't the only ones excited about the upcoming debut of the psychopathic villain Negan in the second half o Season 6. Creator Robert Kirkman is also thrilled to be seeing one of his most memorable characters making his live-action debut. According to Kirkman, seeing actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan bringing Negan to life gave him goosebumps.
When we talked to Kirkman earlier this week about the recent release of The Walking Dead #150, we also asked if he had a chance to see Morgan's performance yet. Kirkman told us, "I have seen him in action, and it’s very great. You’d expect me to say that because, you know, I’m part of the production. I can’t exactly come out and say, 'Oh, it’s not good!' But it’s one of the most goosebump-y moments I’ve ever gotten watching the show. I’ve walked through the prison. I’ve seen Steven Yeun and Andrew Lincoln meet for the first time. There have been a lot of huge moments that I’ve experienced on this show that have really touched me and moved me in ways that I can’t really describe with words."
