X-Files’ Creator Out to Prove the “Show Has More Life To It”
13 years after its original run, creator Chris Carter has brought back FBI Agents Mulder and Scully for a mind-bending 6 episode X-Files event - beginning Sunday, June 24th on FOX.
These new episodes, however, aren't intended to mark end of the series, but to push it forward with new mythology and new monster-of-the-week chapters. With the first and sixth episodes being the heaviest, most mythology-focused ones.
"It’s really a reentry into a series that hasn’t been on the air for 13 years," Carter said of the opening episode, today during the TCA Winter Press Tour, "so I think you needed to get back into the characters’ lives, their quest, where they are, where the relationship is, where their professional lives are. That was a definitely a mythology episode, part of the saga, if you will."
The 100: Get Ready for Bellamy’s New Enforcer Role
The 100 and Bellamy Blake have changed a lot from the “Whatever the hell we want” days of the pilot and that evolution will continue in Season 3. On a visit to the set of The 100, I sat down with Bob Morley to discuss what’s in store for Bellamy this season, as the character discovers his role within the larger group from the Ark, now living in Arkadia (formerly Camp Jaha).
Morley discussed Bellamy becoming an “enforcer,” his dynamic with Michael Beach’s new character Pike, how Bellamy and Clarke have gone in different directions and more.

IGN: Can you say anything about when the season begins, where Bellamy and everyone’s head is at because what happened was so heavy at the end of last season?

Flash Gordon Reboot Hires Thor Screenwriter
Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn's reboot of Flash Gordon has drafted Thor and I Am Legend screenwriter Mark Protosevich to rewrite the 20th Century Fox-based sci-fi film.
Protosevich made the announcement of his involvement with Flash Gordon on his Facebook page. Via Hitfix:
"I can't wait to get started and if you're curious about the take? I'm not saying a word. All I'll say is this - it will be nothing like any version of Flash Gordon you've seen."
Wonder Woman’s Mother Cast
Connie Nielsen (Gladiator, The Following, Boss) has been cast as Wonder Woman’s mother -- also known as Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons -- in the superheroine's currently shooting Warner Bros./DC Comics movie.
Gal Gadot, of course, stars as Wonder Woman, a.k.a. Princess Diana, while Chris Pine plays the epitome of Man’s World, Steve Trevor. Danny Huston, Robin Wright, David Thewlis and Ewen Bremner also star in the Patty Jenkins-helmed film.
Nicole Kidman was originally targeted for the role by the studio, but scheduling conflicts with her HBO show Big Little Lies made her involvement impossible. Though recently rumored for the part of Hippolyta, Wright is playing Diana’s aunt. (That means she’s probably Antiope.)
Star Wars’ Kylo Ren Coming to Disney Parks
The latest addition to Disney's ever-growing Star Wars-themed attractions will include a key character from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Inside the Star Wars Launch Bay attraction in Disneyland Park and Disneyland Hollywood Studios, fans can step through a portal and be transported to the bridge of Kylo Ren's Star Destroyer, where they will be greeted by the villain himself.
A handful of First Order troopers and Chewbacca will also be featured in the Launch Bay. Ren's Star Destroyer will be available to visit starting February 2016.
Fallout 4 Bug Will No Longer Dismember You
Fallout 4's latest update is currently in beta on Steam, pledging to fix a whole bunch of bugs. The beta, Bethesda stresses, "is a work in progress," so before opting in for testing, players should back up their games.
The update mainly fixes bugs and adds a new ambient occlusion setting, plus the ability to rotate objects using left and right triggers. Fallout 4 will also no longer dismember players while still alive. Bethesda has additionally fixed an issue with MacReady's Killshot perk—it now calculates properly—and fixed "an issue with settlement happiness calculations."
Mortal Kombat X Enhanced Online Beta Signups Begin Next Week
Mortal Kombat X's enhanced online beta signups will begin on January 19.
The closed public beta will help NetherRealm Studios "move away from the dynamic input latency model" toward one it says will more accurately preserve "the feel of an offline game" during online play.
The new model is similar to GGPO, which is described as a "rollback, simulate forward model." According to the announcement, it'll create a "smoother experience" and lessen "the feel of lag during online play."
Any player who has logged more than one hour online can sign up for testing using the online beta site, though NetherRealm's community specialist notes that not everyone will get a invite. However, the developer plans on introducing more players throughout the testing period.

Bates Motel: First Promo for Season 4
Bates Motel is leaning into its Psycho origins in this exclusive first promo for Season 4.
The short teaser, which will air during the Critics' Choice Awards on January 17th, previews Norman Bates' (Freddie Highmore) spiraling descent into madness which kicked into high gear in Season 3's finale.
Season 4 of Bates Motel sees Norma (Vera Farmiga) growing increasingly fearful of her son and trying to find Norman the professional help he desperately needs. As Norman struggles to keep his grip on reality, his relationship with his mother grows even more complicated, especially when Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) is drawn back into the Bates' lives.
