Scientists: Aliens Likely Existed But Have Since Gone Extinct

Is there intelligent life in our universe? We've long theorized and fantasized about sharing with other beings the nothingness of space, but scientists have recently concluded that while at one time it may have, but it's likely to have long died out by now.

“The mystery of why we haven’t found signs of aliens may have less to do with the likelihood of the origin of life or intelligence and have more to do with the rarity of the rapid emergence of biological regulation of feedback cycles on planetary surfaces,” Dr. Aditya Chopra of Australian National University told The Irish Times.

Detective Pikachu Announced Alongside Odd Video

Nintendo has announced Detective Pikachu, and it’s coming to Japanese 3DSs on February 3.

The newly-released trailer shows Pikachu in a detective hat going around a city, talking, and drinking coffee. There are some screenshots towards the end of the video, which shows the electric mouse hanging around with a boy in a red hoody.

Called Meitantei Pikachu: Shin Konbi Tanjou (which roughly translates to Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Team), Nintendo bills the game as a "cinematic adventure." The player (aka, the trainer stand-in in the trailer) teams up with Detective Pikachu for a Sherlock Holmes-style story, filled with puzzles and mysteries. While Pikachu has appeared in spin-off games before (most notable, Hey You, Pikachu! on the N64), the big surprise here is that Pikachu talks in a decidedly non-Pikachu voice while narrating the action. Have a look at the trailer, you’ll see what we mean.

Daily Deals: Fallout 4, Halo 5, Super Cheap Memory and SSDs

$30 off a PlayStation 4 Bundle with Star Wars, Uncharted, and Call of Duty

This is currently the best PS4 deal on the internet. Right out of the gate you're saving $30 versus the $400 price tag Amazon has on the PS4 Battlefront bundle (you can get a PS4 with just CoD for $350, FYI), and getting two additional games. So if you were to buy that cheaper $350 CoD bundle, then get Battlefront and Uncharted separately, you'd still be spending at least $420, which is $50 more than this bundle would cost you. This is $70 worth games on top of a $30 discount on the system.

Wrestling Wrap Up: The Rock Returns to RAW

Hey, I liked the Royal Rumble. What'dya know? How about that? I know some, or most, or all of you didn't because Triple H walked out as champ and I fully acknowledge that as being a ridiculous scenario, but I dug it. For the most part. I live-blogged the entire PPV here and then even recorded a video thing about it if you're the peculiar type who requires audio and visual...

Short story even shorter, I liked the return of Sandow's smartypants robe gimmick, the Last Man Standing Match, Kalisto's title win, Sasha arriving after the Charlotte win, and the Rumble match itself. I did get worried that WWE was trying to unwisely pull off a Roman win when they crushed him and took him out of the match for twenty minutes (hashtag #RomansSleeping), but that in itself was a misdirect. Though, unfortunately, it did hang a dark cloud over the whole thing because I couldn't fully enjoy things with the grim prospect of Reigns' return looming.

The Flash: Get a Preview of Reverse-Flash’s Return

The title of tonight’s new episode of The Flash, “The Reverse-Flash Returns,” gives you a hint at what to expect… And yet perhaps not. Because yes, the yellow-suited villain is back, but he doesn’t look like Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) this time, but rather his original, briefly-seen true form, as Eobard Thawne (returning guest star Matt Letscher).

IGN has an exclusive clip for you from the episode, as Earth 2’s “Harry” (Cavanagh) uses an interesting tactic to get Cisco (Carlos Valdes) to use his Vibe powers – leading to Cisco getting an ominous look at their enemy.

Check out the clip!

On a recent visit to the set of The Flash, I spoke to Cavanagh about what it’s like playing Earth 2 Wells this season and how The Flash never holds back on story.

Becoming the Beast Master in Far Cry Primal

Ever since Peter Molyneux’s exciting looking B.C. for original Xbox was canceled back in 2004, I’ve been looking for a game to fill the prehistoric void. Michel Ancel’s Wild looks like it might do the trick, but so too does Far Cry Primal -- and it’s out in just a few short weeks. I played the first three hours of the game and had an excellent time.

To get the bad news out of the way first: yes, Far Cry Primal is set in the stone age, but no, it doesn’t feature dinosaurs. It does, however, feature plenty of other long-extinct animals. In fact, the game opens with you and your hungry tribemates hunting wooly mammoths – before being chased off of your kill by an even hungrier sabertooth tiger and brained by a tree trunk while falling down a hill.
