Battleborn: Two New Playable Heroes Announced
2K Games has unveiled two new playable characters for Gearbox Software's upcoming multiplayer shooter, Battleborn.
In post on PlayStation Blog, Senior Community Content Editor Darren Gladstone revealed the game's "hulking" new heroes, the first of which is Attikus. See the "huge, imposing beast with an axe to grind against his oppressors" in action below.
The second is Galilea, an "unstable, immortal" warrior who's "reeking of life-draining dark energy." Check out the character highlight trailer below to see the "Wraith of Bliss" lay waste to her foes.
Jessica Jones Was Never Trying to Top Daredevil’s Fight Scenes
Though Daredevil and Jessica Jones are both TV shows under the Marvel Netflix umbrella, they're tonally very different series. On the one hand, Daredevil is a crime drama where a blind lawyer takes down the criminals the judicial system fails to punish. On the other, Jessica Jones follows a woman haunted by her past who steps up to stop her superpowered tormenter. Both heroes have special abilities, but they put their unique sets of skills to use in very different ways.
This is showcased particularly clearly in the ways each series uses fight scenes. Daredevil's combat sequences are highly choreographed (and will remain so in Season 2), as Matt Murdock's enhanced senses, speed and strength are integral to accomplishing his end goal. For Jessica Jones, her super strength and flight are a means to an end, and not something she spent a lot of time honing.
The Flash and Supergirl Crossover is Officially Happening
It's official: The Flash and Supergirl are crossing over. Grant Gustin will speed Barry Allen into National City in an upcoming episode of CBS's Supergirl, slated to be broadcast on Monday, March 28.
Because Supergirl comes from the same creative team as The Flash and Arrow, there has been speculation that the shows could crossover since the CBS superhero drama's announcement, but nothing was confirmed until now. CBS did not release official details about the episode or how the crossover will happen, but The Flash and Supergirl executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg released a statement sharing how excited they are simply that it is happening.
XCOM-Inspired Strategy Game Xenonauts 2 Announced
Xenonauts, a game heavily inspired by XCOM: UFO Defense, is getting a sequel in 2017.
According to the Xenonauts 2 website, developer Goldhawk Interactive cites the release of 2K Games’ XCOM 2 as the reason for renewed interest in the Xenonauts series.
The game will be set in an alternate Cold War-era timeline. As a result, advanced alien technology from the first game won’t be available in the sequel.
Xenonauts 2 will also be making the jump from 2D sprites to 3D graphics. In addition, players can expect completely redesigned alien enemies.
The first Xenonauts released in August 2014. IGN’s review called it the closest thing to XCOM: UFO Defense we had seen in 20 years but its frustrations made it too loyal to its inspiration for its own good.
Comedian Steve Agee Has a Role in Guardians Vol. 2
Comedian Steve Agee (The Sarah Silverman Program) reportedly has a role in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
It seems Doug Benson of the Doug Loves Movies podcast -- a friend of Agee's -- slipped the news into a recent episode. "
just found out because he's in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, he has to shoot that bulls--t instead of being here with us today," he said.
Agee has yet to be seen in any of the behind-the-scenes photos director James Gunn's been posting on social media. While it's possible that the comedian is set to play a major role in the film, it seems likely that it will be more of a cameo or a smaller role. Agee is a friend of Gunn's as well, and the director is known for putting his buds in his films in cameo roles.
Hot Toys Reveals Deadpool Cosbaby
Hot Toys's Deadpool Cosbaby bobble head figure is really cute—not a compliment attributed to our favorite Merc with a Mouth very often. Based off Ryan Reynold's character in Marvel's upcoming Deadpool movie, this little guy stands just under 4 inches tall and comes with katana in hand.
Marvel's unconventional superhero was first previewed alongside Hot Toys's sixth scale premium figure at ToySoul 2016 in Hong Kong. Hot Toys has not released a price or ship date for the cosbaby at this time, but the sixth scale figure is available for preorder now, with an expected release window between July and September 2016. The premium figure will cost $235.00 USD, and it's expected the cosbaby iteration will cost much less.
15 Most Anticipated Horror Games of 2016
It's a great time to be a fan of horror games. The genre has been consistently producing quality games that terrify us in all the right ways, and 2016 looks like its going to continue this trend. Below are 15 of the creepiest looking horror games we're most looking forward to in 2016.
Layers of Fear is a journey into the mind of an insane artist. The level of madness is expressed through a constantly shifting reality within the game itself. Simply looking left or right can change the surrounding entirely, but it's only through exploration of this constantly shifting reality that the story unfolds.
So many of us cried out in horror when we learned the collaboration between Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima that was P.T. had been cancelled. Allison Road is taking the torch and running with it, with players exploring the corridors of a decidedly P.T.-like house. But Allison Road goes beyond the walls, with the action also taking place in a darkened forest surrounded by marshlands.
Bethesda to Host Fallout 4 Session at GDC
Bethesda will host a GDC 2016 session to discuss the creation of Fallout 4's open world.
The session, titled "Fallout 4's Modular Level Design," will provide an inside look at how the development team was able to construct the game's massive wasteland "with so many high-quality locations in a relatively short amount of time."
Senior Designer Joel Burgess and Lead Artist Nathan Purkeypile will discuss the process of using modular art kits and iterative level design to create Fallout 4's large and detailed locales. Additionally, the session will share how smaller teams can make use of these tools when creating open worlds of their own.
Star Wars Comic Editor Reflects on 2015, Has Jar Jar Idea
Last year brought us our first full year of Marvel's new Star Wars comics, and so with 2015 closed out, we hopped on the phone with the man who is steering the Star Wars ship over at Marvel Comics, editor Jordan D. White.
He talks about how they approached making a new line of Star Wars comics, the challenges of working with the Lucasfilm Story Group, the potential for comic characters to make the jump to other media, and why Poe Dameron was chosen as the first character from The Force Awakens to get his own ongoing comic series. Plus, believe it or not, we ask White about the idea he has for a Jar Jar Binks comic.
We also have your exclusive first look at three interior art pages by Salvador Larroca from Darth Vader #16.
Is The Division This Year’s Destiny?
For many, myself included, the dots between what Destiny offers, and what The Division is seemingly leaning toward are easy to connect.
Though we’ve already detailed the basics of Tom Clancy’s The Division, the differences between The Division and Destiny, and the steps Ubisoft Massive is taking to avoid the disappointments that marred Destiny’s first year, the question remains: “What the hell is The Division?”
While you may have heard comparisons or read synopses, it’s not until you get your hands on The Division that you really begin to understand it, to get a feel for what it’s all about. Indeed, some of you have already put your hands on a small slice of The Division thanks to its alpha and closed beta periods, but those only provided the briefest of glimpses as to the game’s structure and scope, like being allowed to touch the thing but not really get to grips with it.
