Meet the Robotic Cockroach That Could Save Your Life
Someday a tiny robotic cockroach could help save your life.
The Verge reports that researchers at UC Berkeley created a robot they've named CRAM--Compressible Robot with Articulated Mechanisms. The tiny robot resembles a cockroach to imitate the creature's ability to fit into tight spaces and resistance to destruction. It uses a jointed exoskeleton along with a soft shell that lets it shift its shape.
Scientists Kaushik Jayaram and Robert Full came up with a series of experiments to test on cockroaches, in order to gather data on three key aspects: "crevice traversal," "confined space crawling," and reactions to "dynamic compressive forces." The first two apply to horizontal and vertical movement, respectively, while the last was to test and imitate a cockroach's ability to sustain a force of up to 900 times its body weight.
Assassin’s Creed: How The Matrix Influenced The Film
Michael Fassbender is likening Assassin's Creed to definitive sci-fi film The Matrix. "The idea of DNA memory elevates it from a basic fantasty genre
," the star told Empire Online, "because you have something an audience can actually believe in."
Assassin's Creed will be classic in another major way. "Very little green screen" is used in the film, which Fassbender says is "highly unusual." Fans of the video game will see Assassin's Creed's signature move—the leap of faith—done by stunt-folks without any type of rope.

The Walking Dead’s Return is This Week’s TV Highlight
There isn't all that much going down this week, TV-wise, but what is there is BIG. We're talking HBO's Vinyl, from Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter, a Flash that takes us over to Earth-2 where the team battles Killer Frost, and - of course - the return of The Walking Dead. Just in time for Valentine's Day.
Which is, as you might suspect, our big TV pick for the week. The midseason finale left us with not one - but TWO cliffhangers. Rick and company covered in guts and holding hands in the midst of an Alexandria herd, and (in the post-credits tag) Daryl and company getting pulled over by Negan's cronies. Both dire scenarios that require immediately follow up.
So will the flood of walkers spell out doom for Alexandria? Will Rick and his delicate chain of nervous citizens make it to safety, or will they get devoured like a candy necklace? And...well, there's just no way Daryl, Abraham, and Sasha are going to give up their s*** to this Negan character. So in the very least we're in for an action-packed midseason premiere.
