Fire Emblem Fates Sells 300K Copies
Fire Emblem Fates has sold over 300,000 units during its launch weekend.
This makes Fates the fastest-selling game in the franchise, having sold more than five times as many copies as 2013’s Fire Emblem Awakening.
Between the two versions, Birthright was the most popular.
The first piece of DLC for Fates dropped on February 19. Nintendo has said it plans on releasing additional paid maps on a regular basis through April 21. But before that, on March 10, comes the third story, Fire Emblem Fates: Revelations, for around $20.
In our 9.4 review of Fates we said a load of nice things, including “Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright is a fantastic balance of tactical challenge and accessibility. Even after I finished the story, I found myself returning to the battlefield again and again to unlock more conversations between friends and test my army’s might against Nohr’s finest. I’m addicted to Fire Emblem Fates, and that’s fine by me.”
Hitman Beta Returning for PlayStation Plus Members
If you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber then you'll be getting exclusive access to another Hitman beta from March 4.
Square Enix also released the Hitman opening cinematic trailer today, which you can see below.
The beta will only be around for that weekend, with the game releasing a week later on March 11. Hitman will now be episodic, with new locations being released as add-ons.
IGN had a chance to go hands-on with the beta a couple of weeks ago, and the thoughts were "so far, so good."
Upload and Share Gaming Clips Instantly With New PC App
San Francisco based Forge Inc. has announced the public beta of its gameplay-recording software Forge.
Forge allows users to collect 5-30 second clips from their games and upload them to platforms like Twitter and Facebook, "all without exiting their game."
The app runs in the background during gameplay "without the use of any additional hardware" like a dedicated capture card. Forge Inc. says it does this "without affecting gameplay performance."
Clips are recorded in HD and shared to the Forge network, but the clips can also be used on personal blogs in addition to social media.
In a nutshell, if Forge is running while you're playing Rocket League and you score an unbelievable goal, you can scrub and cut the footage down without needing to exit the game. The clip can then be uploaded and if you're fast enough, you can have your goal on social media before the ball goes back into play.
Nintendo Announces the Next Pokemon Direct
UPDATE: It's possible the forthcoming Pokémon Direct will be just five minutes in length.
That's according the Nintendo Twitter account, which after running the tweet through Google Translate, says "
is about five minutes of short video."
Original story follows...
Nintendo has revealed the next Direct will be about all things Pokémon.
The Pokémon Direct special kicks off on February 26 at 7am PT / 3pm GMT. You can watch it live on the Nintendo Direct website or on Twitch. Replays are normally available shortly after the event finishes.
Nintendo is being tight-lipped about any of the contents of the special. You can probably expect the likes of Pokken, Pokémon Blue, Red, and Yellow to make a showing, and perhaps a mention of Super Mystery Dungeon.
Report: BvS to Get R-Rated Home Video Edition
The theatrical release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice may be rated PG-13, but Warner Bros. is apparently preparing an R-rated home entertainment version of the film.
FilmRatings.com has revealed an R-rated “Ultimate Edition” of Batman v Superman, which includes "sequences of violence.”
With the film’s darker tone, it stands to reason Warner Bros. may have been influenced to release a more violent version of Batman v Superman -- perhaps in part thanks to the success of the record-breaking opening for the R-rated Deadpool.
Baywatch: Yes, The Rock’s Playing The Hoff’s Role
Dwayne Johnson took to his Instagram account tonight to post the first photos from the set of Baywatch, his new feature film based on the TV series of the same name.

The Rock will play "Mitch Buchannon," the role played on the TV series by David Hasselhoff. His co-star Zac Efron plays "Matt Brody," the role played by David Charvet in the TV series that ran from 1989-2001.
Johnson captioned the first photo below:
"EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: #BAYWATCH Day 1. My character 'Mitch Buchannon' just gave @zacefron's character 'Matt Brody' the all important beach speech about what it means to have manly 'Alpha balls'. X-Files Creator Carter Says FOX Wants More Episodes
FOX may be bringing The X-Files around for another go.
Creator Chris Carter told The Hollywood Reporter that FOX Television CEO Dana Walden would "very much" like to see more episodes, but nothing has been negotiated just yet.
According to the creator, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson would both be "game" for another season. "So I'm just working around their busy schedules," Carter said. "They both have families. It's another practical matter."
The final episode in X-Files' recent six-episode run ended with a major cliffhanger that "opens up both the TV and movie parts of the franchise."
