2Dark Charges You With Saving Kids From Serial Killers
The year is 1978. Children are going missing. Taken from their homes in the macabre, unwelcoming town of Gloomywood. As Mr. Smith, the dower, tortured unlikely hero of 2Dark, you're driven to find these kids, and save them from a collection of disturbing serial killers by infiltrating the creepy derelict locales that make up each level of 2Dark.
And I learned first hand just how dark 2Dark can be during the 5th Annual GDC Indie Mix hosted by IGN. The opening prologue flashes back to a black-and-white scene of Mr. Smith and his happy family.
In an instant, he hears the screams of his loved ones, chasing them into the dark woods to find his wife in pieces and the faces of his children staring back at him through the red-tinged rear window of a van.
Assassin’s Creed VR Experience Coming This Year
Ubisoft has today revealed an Assassin’s Creed virtual reality experience will be released later this year. Based on the upcoming film, the project is being created in partnership with Fox and effects company Practical Magic.

The Assassin’s Creed VR Experience, which is not a game, was shot alongside the movie itself during production. Filming on the Assassin’s Creed movie, starring Michael Fassbender, wrapped in January.
Adventure on Clover Island Captures that 64-bit Spirit
The moment a game evokes shades of Banjo-Kazooie, Ratchet and Clank, or the original Jak and Daxter, it immediately has my attention. That genre of game where you controlled a furry critter and explored bright, colorful, gigantic worlds in an effort to collect all manner of knick-knacks was among my absolute favorite, which is why I was so heartbroken when it seemed to take a leave of absence over the past half-decade or so.
Thankfully, recent reveals of things like Psychonauts 2, A Hat in Time, and Yooka-Laylee seem to signal a resurgence of this once-beloved genre. Well, we can add another name to that list: Sylar and Plux: Adventure on Clover Island, which is one of the dozens of indie games featured at the Indie Mix 2016, which IGN is hosting inside of our offices. Don’t be turned off by the generic tongue-twister of a title, though -- the small slice of Clover Island I got to play was a blast.
Adorable Shovel Knight Plush Toys Available for Pre-Order
WeLoveFine's collection of Shovel Knight plush toys is expanding with two new stuffed knights, Shield Knight and Plague Knight.
The new additions are available for pre-order on the company's website, while the originals, Shovel Knight and Troupple King, are shipping now.
The plush toys cost $28 USD each, and vary in size. Plague King stands at nine inches tall and comes with a staff and alchemy pouch. Shield Knight is the largest at 14 inches, and comes with her shield. Shovel Knight comes in at 10 inches, and Troupple King at seven inches tall and 13 inches long. Shovel Knight comes with a shovel, and Troupple King plays music.
ID4: 20th Anniversary Blu-ray Date and Details
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release a 20th anniversary edition Blu-ray and DVD release for Independence Day ahead of the June 24th theatrical release of Independence Day: Resurgence.
The 20th Anniversary edition includes newly restored theatrical and extended cuts of the Roland Emmerich-directed alien invasion blockbuster. It will arrive on Digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD on May 3.
An “Attacker Edition” will also be available featuring a Blu-ray Inside Limited Edition 3D Alien Ship Collector’s Set.

Conroy, Hamill Set for Killing Joke Animated Movie
Batman: The Animated Series stars Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are set to dance with the devil in the pale moonlight yet again, as Batman and The Joker in the animated adaptation of The Killing Joke.
While rumored for the roles since the movie was announced at last year's Comic Con, the confirmation comes courtesy of Comic Book Resources.
Why Having Marvel TV Characters in the Movies is Tricky
Will the Marvel TV characters ever pop up in the movies? Fans have wondered about this for a long time and the question has only grown with the Netflix series introducing high profile Marvel characters like Daredevil and Punisher into the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity.
On the set of Captain America: Civil War, Marvel’s Nate Moore, who is producing Civil War, said that when it comes to such a crossover, “I think it’s possible for sure. It’s interesting that the TV timeline and the film timeline moves so differently because they tell stories so quickly because they have 10 to 22 episodes."
"Sometimes it’s just hard for those things to line up perfectly," Moore added, "but we love that idea of ultimately, say, a Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Punisher, Agents of SHIELD… Maybe there’s a way to get ‘em back in there as long as it makes sense for our storytelling and doesn’t prohibit them from telling a story.”
Transformers: Kirkman No Longer Involved
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is no longer a part of the Transformers movie franchise's writing team.
Kirkman revealed the news to Collider, saying he was only in the writers room for one day before throat surgery forced him to leave.
Last May, Kirkman was brought on to assist in writing future Transformers films alongside I Am Legend's Akiva Goldsman, Iron Man’s Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, X-Men: The Last Stand’s Zak Penn, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2's Jeff Pinkner.
Square Enix’s Newest RPG Inspired by Chrono Trigger
Today Square Enix revealed I Am Setsuna, a debut game the Japanese publisher is planning to release this summer from a new internal studio.
Formerly called Project Setsuna, the game and its new studio, called Tokyo RPG Factory, were announced at E3 2015. A press release from SE says Setsuna will use a battle system similar to the lauded ‘90s classic RPG, Chrono Trigger. The development team is being led by director Atsushi Hashimoto. Hashimoto previously worked as director on Final Fantasy Explorers. Hashimoto also was a planner on Kid Icarus Uprising for Nintendo 3DS.
Patrick Warburton Will Play Lemony Snicket in Netflix Series
Rules of Engagement actor Patrick Warburton will portray Lemony Snicket in Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warburton will play the writer-photographer in the drama series. Lemony Snicket is the narrator and a character in the book series, and Jude Law voiced him in the 2004 feature film.
