X-Men’s Professor X Is Christ and Apocalypse Is a False God
With X-Men: Apocalypse hitting on May 27, we did an edit bay visit with other press to chat with director Bryan Singer. Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen obviously have a lot of religious connotations, which is something not lost on Singer, who views both Professor X and Apocalypse as two very different religious figures.
kind of the opposite of Christ, actually. Christ would have come years after him, by the way. Our premise is he stomped around ancient Egypt, and that's when he is buried and awakens in 1983. He's kind of more the God of the Old Testament, the vengeful God who wants the world in a certain order and wants to be worshipped -- but he's also forgiving,” Singer said. “He's also a false god, which makes him kind of like a cult leader. So
Game of Thrones Creator’s Thoughts on Resurrection
Warning: this article contains spoilers for The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, including all the books and the TV show all the way up to Season 6, Episode 2, “Home”!
With everyone’s favorite man who knows nothing, Jon Snow, gasping back to life in the final moment of last night’s “Home” episode, many Game of Thrones fans were happy to see their hero returned. However, don’t start the parade just yet, because if George R.R. Martin’s 2011 Sound of Young America interview with John Hodgman is any clue, then we won’t be getting back the Jon Snow that we all know and love.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Officially Announced
Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and it'll be out on November 4 this year.
A trailer has also been released as part of the announcement, which shows off a lot of action, both on the ground and in space.
The Legacy Edition of the game will include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, which will include the campaign and 10 multiplayer maps, as was rumored last week.
Bryan Singer Addresses Apocalypse Backlash
The initial reception to the appearance of Apocalypse, the villain of May 27’s X-Men: Apocalypse movie, was not a positive one, with most people pointing out his laughable resemblance to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie villain Ivan Ooze.
Then when the trailer let audiences hear his voice for the first time, there was another wave of backlash because it was just actor Oscar Isaac’s unaltered voice instead of an inhuman, godly sound.
On top of all that, comic readers were questioning why Apocalypse was so small. In the source material, he’s a hulking figure as it is, plus he can use his power to grow to King Kong-like proportions.
During an edit bay visit IGN attended with other press, director Bryan Singer addressed these fan concerns.
Game of Thrones Showrunners Explain That Big Final Scene
Major spoilers for Game of Thrones continue below. This article discusses a huge reveal in "Home," so if you haven't seen it yet, read on at your own risk.
Jon Snow may have been dead, but Game of Thrones finally confirmed many fans' suspicions when Melisandre revived the Lord Commander in the final moments of "Home."
Knowing that his gasp for air was likely followed by gasps of shock and happiness in TV viewers' homes around the globe, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss broke down the major moment in this week's "Inside the Episode" segment.
"Davos has no real love lost for Melisandre," said Weiss in the video. "He's seen what she's capable of. He's seen her do many impossible things. He's not a big fan of her god, he's not a big fan of her program, but there's certainly nothing to lose at this point. If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work."
Call of Duty Livestream Announced

Marvel’s Civil War Has Massive International Debut
Captain America: Civil War was a huge success at the international box office, bringing in $200.2 million on its opening weekend.
The film—which debuts domestically May 6—is expected to have a similarly huge opening weekend in North America. Captain America: Civil War is currently on track to earn $175 million, with some analysts predicting the film could even hit $200 million next weekend.
"They have found a way to keep the films unbelievably fresh and the reception to this leading into its opening suggests that they've delivered arguably one of the best films to come out of the studio," Disney distribution chief Dave Hollis told Variety. "We expect a lot of repeat business."
Ratchet & Clank, Keanu No Match for Jungle Book
Disney's The Jungle Book remained atop the domestic box office for the third consecutive weekend, as Ratchet & Clank and Key and Peele's cat comedy, Keanu, each opened under $10 million USD.
The Jungle Book grossed $42.4 million over the weekend, bringing its domestic total up to $252.1 million.
The live-action take on the classic tale has now grossed $684.8 million worldwide, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It's expected to be dethroned next weekend when another Disney release, Captain America: Civil War, hits theaters stateside.
Keanu, Key and Peele's first feature film, debuted at $9.35 million, placing it in third place for the weekend just behind The Huntsman: Winter's War's $9.39 million haul.
Person of Interest Creators on an Exciting, Explosive Final Season
On Tuesday, May 3rd, Person of Interest kicks off its final 13-episode run on CBS. Season 5 begins with an action-packed premiere called "B.S.O.D." (as in "Blue Screen of Death), in which Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Finch (Michael Emerson) evade gunfire and race to save the Machine, while Root (Amy Acker) tries her hardest to draw Samaritan assassins away from them. It's an edge of your seat battle you won't want to miss, on one of our favorite shows here at IGN.
I recently spoke to Person of Interest executive producer Jonathan Nolan and executive producer/showrunner Greg Plageman about these last 13 episodes. We chatted about the decision to write an ending to the story rather than try to leave us with a cliffhanger - despite CBS having not revealed it was the final season while production was underway. We also discussed Finch's new dilemma in rebuilding the Machine, Fusco's (Kevin Chapman) frustrations with being kept out of the loop and more.
Mikkelsen Wants to Return to Hannibal ‘Four Years Later’
Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen is hopeful the cancelled NBC series will return within the next few years, adding "it all depends" on creator Bryan Fuller's interest and schedule.
"He is the key, the base, the heart," Mikkelsen said of Fuller, speaking with Express. "We will wait and see what happens next in his career."
Despite previously stated concerns about how much enthusiasm there'll be for the series in "three or four years," Mikkelsen believes the show could easily continue a few years down the road, thanks to breaks in the original works' stories. "We could pick it up, say, four years later," he said. "If Bryan is up for it, we will all go for it."
