What Wasn’t In Suicide Squad

Spoilers follow for Suicide Squad.

By now we know that there were two different cuts of Suicide Squad that Warner Bros. and director David Ayer were trying to decide on prior to the film’s release last week. We also know that the picture underwent reshoots last spring, and while neither of these factors is necessarily out of the ordinary on big blockbuster movies these days, many critics and fans alike felt that the resulting version of the DC film that was released is a choppy and pieced together thing. Did the reported last-minute tinkering adversely affect the final product?

Overwatch: Mercy and Mei to Get Buffs, Zenyatta to Get Nerfed

Overwatch principal designer Geoff Goodman has been discussing some ideas for changes to various heroes on the Blizzard forums.

In a thread simply titled "Don't nerf Zenyatta," Goodman had some bad news:

"Zenyatta is definitely playing a lot better these days. At this point anecdotal feedback, internal stats, and competitive feedback are all showing hes actually a bit *too* strong at the moment. At this point we're looking likely to reduce some of his power in an upcoming patch, probably related to his Discord Orb."

As for Mei, Goodman only thinks a tweak to her ultimate ability is necessary. "Currently her ult can feel a bit unwieldy and inconsistent, especially when you compare it to other similar ults such as Reinhardt's. We're internally testing allowing the ultimate projectile she throws to pierce barriers (such as Reinhardt's shield), and increasing the radius a bit on it."

IGN UK Podcast #344: Welcome to PoisonGit, No Man Sky’s Premiere Planet

We learned a lot of things about Dale on this week's podcast. That he bloody loved the first Dead Space. That he's surprisingly good at identifying sludge metal band names. And that he labels his discovered No Man's Sky planets things like "Hello Everyone From Hell" and "Xerox at All Times."

If this is what he names fictional astrological bodies, imagine what he'll name his future children.

Terrifying projections of questionable parenting aside, this week Joe, Rory, Dale and Alysia take a gander at the brand new Rogue One trailer, the equally nascent No Man's Sky, and Joe tries his hand at writing a new quiz.

Gears of War 4: How Old Marcus and New Robots Fit In

A lot of what we’ve heard from new Gears of War developer The Coalition so far is how it’s qualified to make a Gears game, and, essentially, why we should trust them with our beloved Gnashers and Lancers. The Coalition isn’t out to redefine Gears. Why try to rework combat that, as we saw with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, still stands well today? We traveled to Vancouver to visit The Coalition on their turf and get the latest, longest look at Gears of War 4 yet.

The Coalition is looking to recreate the feeling of mystery and discovery we experienced in the first Gears of War. Our new protagonist, JD Fenix, is essentially a criminal on the run who’s recruited by circumstance to stop a new monster foe. But instead of Gears of War 4 feeling like a shiny new retelling, it already seems like The Coalition has created something much more affecting than what was presented in any of the first three games.

Nordic Games Rebrands to THQ Nordic

Nordic Games has rebranded, and will henceforth be known as THQ Nordic.

The main reason for the change comes down to the portfolio of THQ IP the company owns. The rebrand, in a nutshell, is to show fans Nordic is serious about breathing new life into their acquired IPs.

“THQ Nordic represents a core approach of doing much more than ‘owning’ a highly competitive portfolio of IP,” reads the press release. “We cherish them, and align them with the very best development resources to expand upon them with the level of experience that communities and established fan bases expect and deserve.”

Nordic Games acquired several THQ IPs during April of 2013, following THQ’s bankruptcy. The IPs purchased include Red Faction, MX vs. ATV, Destroy All Humans!, Summoner, and of course, the Darksiders franchise.

WWE 2K17 New Features Revealed

WWE 2K17 is getting a plethora of new changes to gameplay, MyCareer, WWE Universe, and more, but won't have a 2K Showcase, 2K Games has revealed.

The publisher explained the exclusion of a 2K Showcase, a mode that focuses on past WWE rivalries, saying that ideas, which revolved around cover Superstar Brock Lesnar, weren't feasible because of other historic WWE Superstars not being in the game.

"In all, we didn’t feel good about creating a Showcase that was not up to our standards and current development vision," the blog post reads, "so we decided to take that effort and put it into modes our community requests we keep improving: WWE Universe and MyCareer."
