No Plans for Batman Characters on Arrowverse Shows

There are currently no plans to include Batman characters in Arrow, Supergirl or any of the Arrowverse shows, executive producer Greg Berlanti confirmed at Television Critics Association press tour.

Berlanti said the rumors about Batman, Batwoman and Oracle appearing on Supergirl are completely baseless, and there are no plans to incorporate any of these characters into any of The CW's superhero shows.

During today's event Berlanti also announced that Kevin Smith will direct an episode of Supergirl, and it was revealed that Season 2 of the show will feature the debut of two new DC characters: Miss Martian and Mon-El. Superman will also be stepping onto the scene during the show's second season, with Tyler Hoechlin starring as Clark Kent.

Kevin Smith to Direct Supergirl Season 2 Episode

Comic fan, movie director, and beloved nerd icon Kevin Smith is set to direct an episode of Supergirl.

The news came during the Television Critics Association press event. Greg Berlanti, executive producer for Supergirl and the creator of Arrow, revealed the news during a panel.

The Clerks director is no stranger to the world of comics, having penned the 1999 "Guardian Devil" 8-issue arc of Daredevil for Marvel, as well as having written scripts for a 1996 Superman movie and a 2004 Green Hornet screenplay, neither of which made it to screen.

Kevin Smith will also direct an episode of The Flash in its third season, something reiterated during the panel.

Supergirl: Season 2 Adds Miss Martian and Mon-El

Supergirl Season 2 will add two new characters to the DC television universe—Miss Martian and Mon-El. Hellcats' Sharon Leal will play Miss Martian, with Containment's Chris Wood (who was previously announced to be joining Supergirl in Season 2) as Mon-El.

Miss Martian is a relatively new character in the world of DC. She was first introduced in 2006's Teen Titans #37. Like Supergirl, she was sent to Earth at a young age (but from Mars, just like the Martian Manhunter), so it seems like her story might parallel Supergirl's a bit. Mon-El, for those unfamiliar, is a superhero with powers similar to Superman.

What Vader and This New Character Have in Common

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Saw Gerrera has a few similarities to Darth Vader—and it's not only fans who've noticed, actor Forest Whitaker has confirmed.

For one, the former allies (as seen on the Clone Wars animated series when Vader was still Anakin) both rely on technology to keep them alive. "This is his armored suit for flight, but also for maintenance," Whitaker told Entertainment Weekly. "He's been through so many conflicts and many wars, so it's also about

some of the many injuries he's had. He wears it all the time."

Like Vader, he's willing to do whatever it takes to see his side win the war. He believes in what he's done, Whitaker said. "He understands that the universe could be destroyed and worlds could be destroyed if he doesn't succeed." That's where Gerrera's ferocity comes in.
