Why Final Fantasy XV Was Delayed
Final Fantasy XV’s two month delay to November this week may have been a disappointment to some fans, but Square Enix is confident it will make for a better experience once the game is available worldwide.
Speaking to IGN at Gamescom, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata explained that a hefty day one patch was originally in store for the game, but ultimately he didn’t want fans who play offline to be unable to experience the game at its best. Instead, he wanted the game to be in its most polished state as soon as players put in the disc.
“Originally I was thinking it would be okay and we could put all of the extra updates into a day-one patch,” Tabata told IGN. “But at that point I learned there are maybe a lot of people out there who play in an offline environment and don’t have internet. When I found that out, thinking about it again, I’m glad I didn’t make that decision.”
Resident Evil 7 Is Keeping Us in the Dark for a Reason
H.P. Lovecraft – a man who knew a thing or two about horror – famously believed that “The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown”. Right now so much of Resident Evil 7 lies in the shadows.
The Beginning Hour demo – released during E3 – gave us a taster of the franchise’s new tone and direction but importantly it wasn’t lifted from the final game. The Lantern demo, however, is in Resident Evil 7 but it’s another found footage tape, depicting the horrific final moments of a woman.
Find Out the Fate of Two Stranger Things Characters
We’ve been talking to Matt and Ross Duffer – the brilliant minds behind Netflix smash Stranger Things – and they’ve been spilling the beans about the future of the show.
So SPOILER ALERT if you haven't watched Season One or don't want to know anything about Season Two.
A second season hasn’t officially been announced, but as they’ve all-but-confirmed it’s happening, we asked about the fate of two major characters who were in bad shape at the end of the first season.
And the outlook isn’t good for Barbara. One of the show’s breakout characters, Barb was last seen looking very much dead in the Upside Down. But as the brothers recently paraphrased James Cameron when talking about no one ever really being dead in sci-fi, we asked if she might reappear in Season Two.

NBA 2K17’s Pursuit to Build a Better Basketball Sim
“Every year our goal is to be the most realistic sports game on the market,” 2K Sports Brand Manager Andrew Blumberg told a room of reporters at Gamescom 2016. It’s a tall order, but one that you can tell NBA 2K developer Visual Concepts and publisher 2K take seriously. Nearly every update and announcement for the upcoming NBA 2K17 is a reflection of the current affairs in professional basketball, from spotlighting up and coming talent like the Indiana Pacer’s small forward Paul George to putting Kobe Bryant on the cover of the special editions just one year after his NBA retirement.
2K Sports’ Gamescom presentation started with a focus on basketball in Europe. They quickly recapped how Spain’s towering power foward/center Pau Gasol and Italy’s talented small forward Danilo Gallinari will appear as cover athletes of NBA 2K17 in certain regions. And for the first time, the Euro League would have 21 up-to-date teams in the game. “In the past, we’ve been a year behind,” Blumberg said, “just because European teams are selected late in the summer and it didn’t work for our timelines.” Since the Euro league adopted a new format this year, it allowed 2K to identify teams much earlier and get them into the new game.
