The Maze Runner to Resume Production Early 2017
20th Century Fox will resume production on The Maze Runner: The Death Cure in February. Earlier this year, the film was put on an indefinite hiatus following lead actor Dylan O'Brien's on-set injury.
After production had been pushed from the initial May 9 startup date, the film's release date was moved from February 17, 2017 to January 12, 2018. The 2018 date still stands with production now moving forward, according to Deadline.
Apple Confirms September Event Date
Apple will hold a new keynote on Wednesday, September 7 at 10 a.m. PT, the company announced today.
Apple did not provide further details on what would be discussed during the event, which will be live streamed on Apple's website.
Though Apple did not confirm what will be showcased next week, Apple has revealed the last few iPhone iterations, including the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, and 6S Plus, in September over the last few years.
Legion Creator on the X-Men TV Show’s Surreal Approach
Coming to FX in early 2017, Legion is a notable inclusion amongst the many comic book adaptations on TV these days thanks to the talent involved. Centered on the Marvel Comics character David Haller (that’s Professor X’s son for those not familiar), Legion marks the first true co-production between Marvel TV and Fox, who hold the X-Men film rights. Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory and X-Men movie producers Simon Kinberg, Lauren Shuler Donner and Bryan Singer are among the executive producers, in a show being guided by Noah Hawley, who’s received a ton of acclaim for his other FX series, Fargo.
I spoke to Hawley about what drew him to the challenges inherent in Legion, in which David (Dan Stevens, of Downton Abbey, The Guest and the upcoming Beauty and the Beast film) claims he’s a mutant, while those around him believe he’s suffering from mental issues. Hawley discussed the show’s 1960s, British-inspired visual style, what appealed to him about Stevens for the lead role and more.
Scarlet Witch Isn’t Technically a ‘Superhero’ in Civil War
Scarlet Witch might be one heck of a fighter on Team Cap, but the directors of Captain America: Civil War don't deem her worthy of the title of "superhero" yet.
According to costume designer Judianna Makovsky, Joe and Anthony Russo didn't want Wanda Maximoff to be fully decked out in a superhero suit because she still hasn't become a full-fledged Avenger yet.
"I think she is not really a superhero yet in the minds of the Russo brothers, the directors," Makovsky told IGN of Elizabeth Olsen's character. "She's just a young girl who doesn't know what she is yet."
That's why Maximoff's outfits still feel relatively casual, like they did when audiences first met her character in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The big change between her outfits in the two film was her transition from a dress to more practical trousers in Civil War -- though both outfits stick to her black-and-red color scheme.
Willy Wonka Star Gene Wilder Dies at 83
Gene Wilder, the beloved actor who starred in a number of iconic films including Young Frankenstein and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, died today in his home in Stamford, Connecticut. He was 83.
His nephew Jordan Walker-Pearlman released a statement (via Variety) about Wilder's passing, saying his death was due to complications with Alzheimer's disease.

Gears of War 4 Is Balanced For Controller First
The Coalition’s Gears of War 4 is coming to both Xbox One and PC, but it’ll be balanced for the controller first.
“We definitely work from the controller out,” Ryan Cleven, Gears of War 4's lead multiplayer designer told IGN. “We do play
mouse and keyboard, but the core of the game is around a controller.”
“I don't think that we...would say that we have like, one of the other as the priority; they're both really important to us.” Cleven said. “But, we have to make sure that the controller experience, which has been the legacy of the game, is definitely perfect.”
PC and Xbox One players won’t be able to play against each other in competitive multiplayer, but they can play the co-op versus mode together with the Xbox Play Anywhere program. Even still, players can choose to play with the mouse and keyboard or controller on PC.

This exclusive extended sneak peek at the Starz series previews how Ash's seemingly perfect ending in Season 1 (that was the most disastrous possible ending for the rest of the world) sets him up to return to his home town of Elk Grove, Mich.
Season 2 will force Ash and Ruby (Lucy Lawless) into an unlikely partnership as her demon spawn children grow to become even more terrifying demon spawn adults. Meanwhile, Ash returns home to rekindle his relationship with his father Brock Williams (Lee Major).
"It's a far bigger and more ambitious season than Season 1," executive producer Rob Tapert told IGN about Season 2. "From a production point of view, the stories are much bigger, the cast is larger. It's still Evil Dead-like, but the canvas is broader this season. So I think that the writers have posited some really good things, and we've been able to embellish this season, what was in the scripts, and make a really wild, visceral ride for the audience."
