Marvel Teases Mystery Comic Called “MU”
Marvel just released a cryptic teaser image for a new comic book project called "MU." True to form, this teaser doesn't reveal much more than the title and creative team.
Whatever MU is, it'll feature Civil War artist Steve McNiven and current Uncanny X-Men writer Cullen Bunn. Interestingly, McNiven has top billing on the teaser, which could suggest he's co-writing the book with Bunn as well as drawing.
Destiny Community Raised $500K for Charity
A weeklong Destiny live stream amassed more than $500,000 for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
The Twitch stream, which as of publishing is in the middle of a bonus stream to continue raising funds, was broadcast ahead of the Destiny Community Convention being held in Tampa, Florida on August 27. All profits from the event will be donated to St. Jude's.
According to CNBC, the stream shatters the the record of previous donations provided to the hospital by gaming community fundraisers, the biggest of which before this stream's was a $250,000 donation.
Gotham Showrunner: Superheroes Don’t Work Well on TV
Gotham showrunner and executive producer Bruno Heller explained why James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is the main character in Fox's comic-inspired series, saying that superheroes don't translate all that well to television.
"I don’t think superheroes work very well on TV," Heller told The Hollywood Reporter at the Edinburgh Television Festival.
As for why he believes this to be the case, Heller said it's "probably because of the costume thing," adding that "TV is about real people and faces, and not so much about magic and the supernatural things."

Fear the Walking Dead: Is Alicia becoming the Leader?
Given how many TV shows don’t actually film in the actual area they take place in, it was refreshing to visit set of Fear the Walking Dead where they were filming scenes set in Mexico that were being filmed... in Mexico!
It was an early morning on this spring day in Rosarito, Mexico as the cast and crew get to work on a scene you’ll see in this coming Sunday’s episode, “Los Muertos.” Having sat out the Nick-centric midseason premiere, “Los Muertos” catches us up with Madison (Kim Dickens), Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), Ofelia (Mercedes Mason) and Strand (Colman Domingo), as we see what their next step is, now that they’ve lost track of everyone else they were traveling with – or as Mason joked, they’d been split into “The cool kids and the not-cool kids. Obviously we’re the not-cool kids!”
Fall TV Preview
While we're bombarded by new TV shows all year round at this point, nothing beats fall when it comes to an avalanche of offerings. With the likes of Netflix, Amazon and Hulu providing stiff competition for network and cable series, the landscape's more crowded than ever these days.
On the cable front, The Walking Dead, American Horror Story and Ash vs Evil Dead are all back this fall, while HBO debuts Westworld. Meanwhile, the networks go big on the reboot game as well, with FOX's Lethal Weapon and The Exorcist, CBS' MacGyver, and the CW's Frequency.
Oh, and we're not done with superheroes on TV yet by a long shot. Not only does Netflix's Luke Cage series debut, but Ghost Rider joins Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. Also, Supergirl makes the switch over to the CW, revving us up for a four-series mega crossover event that also includes Arrow, Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow.
Guardians 2: Casting Kurt Russell Was Chris Pratt’s Idea
Spoilers ahead for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
The decision to cast Kurt Russell as Star-Lord's father in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was actually the idea of Chris Pratt, director James Gunn has revealed.
In an interview with Empire, Gunn said, Russell "was actually not in my head initially." Instead, it was the Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) actor who suggested he bring Russell on board to play Ego the Living Planet.
Resident Evil 7 Details Outed by Ratings Board
New details about Resident Evil 7 have surfaced, thanks to a premature listing by the ESRB.
The listing has since been removed, but not before Gematsu pulled the full description, which details the game's main character, Ethan, who's described as "a man searching for his missing wife in a derelict mansion."
The ESRB's summary also reaffirms that Resident Evil 7 will be played in first-person, through which players will "explore the environment and use pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, explosives and chainsaws to kill mutant creatures."
New to Netflix in September
Netflix has a loaded September for us, with the debut of new original series like Marvel's Luke Cage and new seasons of Narcos and Longmire. Plus, notable movies like Saving Private Ryan, Top Gun, Zootopia, Babel, and all four Jaws movies are coming to the streaming service.
TV, however, seems to be the name of the game, with recent seasons of The Walking Dead, Penny Dreadful, Luther, The Blacklist, Galavant, Supergirl, Family Guy, New Girl, and more all landing on the site for your binging purposes.

Movies like 2 Fast 2 Furious, Primal Fear, Zoolander, The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Color Purple, and more are expiring from the streaming site. On the TV front, the full, five-season runs of the J.J. Abrams-produced series Fringe and Alias are also saying goodbye.
Doctor Strange: Additional Villain Possibly Revealed
After being brought on board to write a few last-minute scenes for Doctor Strange, Community writer Dan Harmon may have accidentally revealed the film's surprise villain.

On a recent episode of the Harmontown podcast, Harmon pulled up a list of files on his computer while discussing a possible Community film he's been working on, and Reddit user Bifrost5 (via Heroic Hollywood) spotted on the screen a document titled "Strange Confronts Dormammu."
