Cancelled Warcraft Point ‘n’ Click Game Leaks

In 1998, Blizzard cancelled Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans, a point 'n' click adventure charting the origins of Horde (and Hearthstone) hero, Thrall. This weekend, it was leaked in its entirety.

Posted by one Reidor on the Scrolls of Lore forums, the leak contains a "full pre-released version with in-game cinematics". Blizzard has not yet commented on the leak, but may well now act to have the file taken down.

Having played a chunk myself, it's remarkably fully-formed - very little about it feels incomplete in its beginning stages - although modern PCs can struggle to run it without the right compatibility settings.

The Last Guardian Delayed

The Last Guardian has been delayed once again, and will now release on December 6 in the US, December 7 in Europe, and December 9 in the UK and Ireland.

Writing on the PlayStation Blog, President of SCE Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida explained the reasoning for the delay as so:

“A delay is a difficult decision, particularly with this game,” writes Yoshida, “but we have encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development.

“To ensure that The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game’s creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues.”

Someone Built a SNES Mini

Nintendo plans to own Christmas with its NES Classic Edition / Nintendo Classic Mini (delete depending on your region), but an enterprising fan has already beaten the developer to a functional SNES version.

As spotted by Eurogamer, Hugo Dorison (aka lyberty5) hand-carved and painted a palm-sized shell out of clay, then filled its guts with a Raspberry Pi Zero loaded with classic 16-bit goodness, including Doom, Yoshi's Island and Kirby Super Star.

Deadly Premonition Creator Swery Is Now a Buddhist Priest

During July’s BitSummit game expo in Kyoto, game director Swery told IGN about his intention to become a Buddhist priest. And now he has actually done it.

Swery is best known for his PS3/Xbox 360/PC cult hit Deadly Premonition, a strange but brilliant work that split audiences upon its original release in 2010. This Kafkaesque survival horror game could be lonely, oppressive and alienating, but its balance of human drama with surreal humor made it endlessly endearing.

Swery was raised in a temple by his parents, who were also priests, and he has often cited this as a factor behind his determinedly humanist games. During a hiatus from game development as he recovers from reactive hypoglycemia (and writes a mystery novel starring a cat), Swery says he felt the desire to return to his spiritual roots.
