Seven to Eternity’s New Kind of Fantasy Villain

The likes of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones have dominated mainstream fantasy for years, but now a new comic book is joining the fray. Seven to Eternity by writer Rick Remender, aritst Jerome Opena and colorist Matt Hollingsworth follows the story of a dying knight, Adam Osidis, who retreated from civilization with his family only for trouble to come knocking courtesy of the God of Whispers, an evil who has taken over the land with a power not often seen in the world of fantasy.

With Seven to Eternity #1 hitting next Wednesday, September 21, we hopped on the phone with Remender (known for his other works Uncanny X-Force, Uncanny Avengers, Deadly Class, and Fear Agent) to hear how he came up with a new kind of fantasy villain, how those other big fantasy properties may (or may not) have affected his process, and the strengths comic books have over other mediums that help tell a fantasy story.

11 Photos of the Monster Hunter Stories Amiibo

Capcom has big plans for Monster Hunter Stories. The RPG-spinoff of the Monster Hunter series is a fairly deep game that retains core fundamentals from the main games. But it's mostly being marketed as a kids property, much like Pokemon, in Japan. It has an anime in the works and lots of kid-friendly merchandise including, you guessed it, amiibo made in collaboration with Nintendo.

We pressed our faces up to the glass display case at Tokyo Game Show 2016 and took a bunch of pictures just for you. The Monster Hunter Stories amiibo set are some of the most detailed amiibo we've seen yet. Take a look in the gallery below.

Yakuza 6 Won’t Have Loading Screens

With development coming to an end and the game due to hit shelves in Japan on December 8, Yakuza series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi has told IGN Japan that he hopes fans will appreciate loading-free gameplay in the next Yakuza game, titled Ryu ga Gotoku 6: Inochi no Uta for its Japanese release, the most ambitious entry in the series to date.

“We’ve worked hard to make this game completely seamless,” he said. “You can engage in the central adventure, get into battles, watch drama scenes, and go back to the adventure, all without any loading screens. Go into any building or any room or any floor without loading.”

While recent entries in the series have been released on both PS3 and PS4, Yakuza 6 (which is not yet an official title for the game, as it does not have an announced Western release) will be released exclusively on PS4, running on a brand new engine that was built to make the most of current-gen technology. Nagoshi said that this seamless approach would not have been possible on PS3, and that it will afford players more freedom to explore and to play at their own pace.

Metro: Redux Developer Teasing New Game

Developer 4A Games, the studio behind Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, is starting to hint at the team's next project.

On Facebook and Twitter, 4A Games has posted two different close-up pictures (seen below) of a hand from the game. While it's had to glean too much from the photos, they appear to tease a sci-fi shooter.

Now this isn't the first time 4A Games has talked about the studio's next project. Back in 2014, 4A Games' chief technical officer Oles Shishkovstov said the team's next game wouldn't be as linear as the Metro titles.
