Overwatch Officially Passes 20 Million Registered Players
Activision Blizzard announced today that Overwatch has passed 20 million global players. This news comes just under five months after the game's release, and a little over two months after the developer announced the game supassed 15 million total players.
It's worth noting this means there are 20 million registered Overwatch accounts, not necessarily that the game has sold 20 million copies. While Blizzard hasn't released sales numbers for Overwatch, it was June's highest selling game, according to the NPD's numbers.
The Flash’s Flashpoint Causes Big Arrow Change
Flashpoint is having ripple effects across all of the DC shows, and in Tuesday's episode of The Flash it was revealed how Barry Allen had a significant effect on Arrow in a way that tied back to a Season 1 plot point on Legends of Tomorrow.
Full spoilers for "Paradox" continue below.
In the second episode of the season, Barry Allen catches up with Arrow's Felicity Smoak to talk through the ripple effects of Flashpoint. He realizes that the deviations between the original timeline and the Flashpoint timeline -- which have resulted in a third, slightly altered timeline -- have affected those closest to him.
Jurassic World 2 Will be a ‘Parable’ for Treatment of Animals
The sequel to Jurassic World will be quite different than its predecessor, according to producer Colin Trevorrow, who notes the followup will explore "more complex" themes surrounding the treatment of animals.
"The dinosaurs will be a parable of the treatment animals receive today," Trevorrow said at the Sitges Film Festival, according to El Mundo (via TIME). He highlighted specific topics surrounding animals that the film will address, including "abuse, medical experimentation, pets, having wild animals in zoos like prisons, the use the military has made of them, animals as weapons."
How Supergirl Is Getting Superman Right
After a whole season of never truly showing Superman on screen, Supergirl aired its Season 2 premiere with actor Tyler Hoechlin in the role of the Man of Steel.
The brief introduction to his character was packed with Clark Kent-isms that we’ve long missed on screen: a smiling, earnest, dorky man who uses phrases like “lickity split” while talking to Daily Planet boss Perry White. After sensing danger, he immediately runs down an alley, rips open his shirt to reveal the signature S-shield, and launches up, up and away to help Supergirl save the day.
New Supergirl Trailer Features a Big Nod to DC’s Crisis
A new Supergirl trailer teasing what’s in store for season 2 has been released, and it features a big nod to the Crisis on Infinite Earths comic book miniseries.
At around the 0:50 mark, there’s a shot of Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) holding Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) in his arms, which looks like it was directly taken from a famous Crisis cover.
Crisis on Infinite Earths was released in the mid-80s, and was a major crossover event spanning the DC Comics multiverse where both Barry Allen/The Flash and Supergirl die.

Cuphead Delayed to 2017
Cuphead, Studio MDHR's side-scroller with a 1930s cartoon aesthetic, has been delayed to a mid-2017 release on Xbox One, Steam, and Windows 10.
The studio revealed the delay in a new blog post, saying that "throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact."
Cuphead was first revealed at E3 2014 as a part of a host of indie titles being developed for Xbox One, and was later given a 2016 launch window at E3 2015. Originally showcased as a boss-rush game, platforming gameplay was revealed for the upcoming title earlier this year.
Overwatch’s First PVE Event ‘Halloween Terror’ Launches
Following last week's leak detailing Overwatch's next seasonal event, Halloween Terror has officially rolled out to players today and will run for three weeks until November 1.
Starting today the seasonal event replaces all in-game loot boxes with Halloween-inspired jack-o'-lanterns, which house over 100 new cosmetics including: profile icons, sprays, victory poses, emotes, highlight intros, and skins.
Also included in Halloween Terror is Overwatch's first-ever co-op PVE brawl, dubbed Junkenstein's Revenge. In this special mode, four players (Ana, McCree, Hanzo, and Soldier 76) defend Adlersbrunn castle’s doors from waves of bots while fighting off regular appearances from Halloween-skinned versions of Reaper, Roadhog, Mercy, and Junkrat as the titular Dr. Junkenstein.
