GTA Parent Company Files Trademarks for Ghost Story

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Games, has filed several trademarks for a multimedia property currently called Ghost Story.

The company filed five trademarks on October 6 via the United States Patent and Trademark Office, ranging from video games, television series, clothing, and "other multimedia materials." No further information was provided about what the property might entail.

It's worth noting, however, that this isn't necessarily indicative of an unannounced game or property on the horizon. Companies sometimes file trademarks in the event they may need the name down the line or to keep others from filing the same trademark. As GameSpot points out, Take-Two also has trademarks for "Judas" and "GTA TV," despite the company never having used either so far.

Call of Duty Created as ‘A Little Bit’ of an F-You to Medal of Honor

Respawn co-founder and Call of Duty creator Vince Zampella recently talked with IGN to discuss the formation of Infinity Ward and the birth of Activision's wildly popular military FPS franchise, revealing that Call of Duty was created, in part, as a jab at EA and Medal of Honor, which Zampella had worked on at 2015 Inc.

On the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered, we asked Zampella about where the idea for Call of Duty came from and whether or not it was an "f-you" to Medal of Honor, to which we responded by saying, "a little bit."

Zampella then went on to discuss how–following the success of their work on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault–Electronic Arts wanted to take ownership of the studio, something he and his team pushed back against. "Originally when we formed Infinity Ward we were working with EA. We had a deal to do the sequel to Medal of Honor," he explained. "Allied Assault did so well that EA wanted to pull it in house, so they tried to force us to come be part of EA. We didn't want to do that."

An unannounced Metallica game was in development in 2003 by the now closed down Black Rock Studios, however it was cancelled.

Titled Damage Inc.: Metallica, or something along those lines, it was supposed to be a driving game set in a post-apocalyptic world. PtoPOnline has now uncovered previously unreleased footage from the game:

After some background and the trailer included in Metallica's St. Anger album, we're shown the first ever gameplay footage. The game is centered around vehicular combat, and although the graphics are from the PS2 / Xbox era, it still looks fairly reminiscent of last year's Mad Max game.
