More Familiar Faces Confirmed for Arrow’s 100th Episode

Spoilers ahead for the upcoming 100th episode of Arrow. Click away if you don’t want to know who is returning to Star City.

At a press Q&A IGN attended today, Arrow co-creator Marc Guggenheim confirmed that, in addition to the already announced returns of Robert Queen and Laurel Lance’s Black Canary, John Barrowman and Neal McDonough will be present in their respective roles as Malcolm Merlyn and Damien Darhk.

Episode 100 of Arrow also happens to be a part of the big crossover all the DC/CW shows are doing this fall, including Supergirl, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. When asked about the challenges of approaching the 100th episode as a milestone and crossover at the same time, Guggenheim responded, "The challenge was, we’ve only got 42 minutes and it’s the middle part of a three-part story."

Michael Moore Announces Surprise Donald Trump Movie

Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore announced Michael Moore in TrumpLand today, a surprise film project about presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The film is based on the director’s one-man play, and will begin screening in Los Angeles and New York this week (a free screening kicks things off tonight at Manhattan’s IFC Center). Moore had been teasing an “October Surprise” on Twitter over the past few days, and now we have confirmation that it’s TrumpLand. Here’s a description of the film from a press release IGN received this afternoon:

The Academy Award winning director of Fahrenheit 9/11 and Sicko, Michael Moore is back with a surprise new film, “Michael Moore in TrumpLand”. He dives right into hostile territory with his daring and hilarious one-man show, deep in the heart of TrumpLand just weeks before the 2016 election. Supergirl’s Role in the Mega-DC CW Crossover Explained

Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow will all be joining forces in December for a big mega-crossover, but just how will it all work, given one of the series doesn’t take place in the same universe as the others? Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim explained a bit more about how Supergirl becomes involved from her corner of the multiverse and also why it’s really a three-series crossover, even though it features characters from all four shows.

Asked how Supergirl will be a part of the series, given her series takes place in another universe, Guggenheim replied, “I think I can say it… I don't think it's that shocking. Last year, Supergirl established that Flash was able to make his way to what I call ‘Earth-CBS’ and it stands to reason that with the proper breach technology the reverse can happen.”

Why We Love Red Dead Redemption

Though Grand Theft Auto might be the first thing most people think of when the name “Rockstar” comes up, there’s no shortage of love for 2010’s stunning Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar San Diego’s second stab at the western genre, Redemption delivered a massive, beautiful, and deadly depiction of America and Mexico during the 19th century. On the heels of Rockstar’s announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2, we wanted to tell you why we personally love the open-world Western so much.

Spoilers ahead.

More than anything else, I'm excited by those seven figures on the poster and about the prospect of a multiple-protagonist setup like the one GTA V pioneered. Rockstar nailed the laconic Man with No Name, Shane vs. the world approach in Red Dead Redemption, but there's a whole other world of great Western traditions built around teams and relationships. The Wild Bunch, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Stagecoach, The Searchers, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and the Magnificent Seven all come to mind as potential inspirations. I want to see great writing and memorable playable characters thoughtfully employed in an interesting, interweaving story. -- Jared Petty

Wrestler Cody Rhodes on his Killer Arrow Role

In the upcoming Arrow episode, "A Matter of Trust" -- which airs Wednesday, October 19th -- Oliver's new team is ready to hit the streets, even though he doesn't feel they're quite ready. Maybe his hesitation is due to the fact that wrestling star Cody Rhodes -- who Arrow star Stephen Amell faced off against in a WWE ring back at SummerSlam 2015 -- is guest starring as a drug dealer named Derek Sampson, determined to terrorize Star City and peddle his "Stardust" (I see what they did there!).

Amell and Rhodes may have never gotten their rematch in WWE, but fans can look forward to a ton of fighting in "A Matter of Trust" as the second-generation pro-wrester crosses over into the DC TV-verse to battle his nemesis. I recently spoke to Rhodes about his role on Arrow, the many ways comic books have influenced his wrestling personas, and his recent time on the independent scene.

5 Reasons Black Mirror is Awesome

On Friday, October 21st, Black Mirror returns on its new home on Netflix with six bold and brutal new episodes featuring its trademark cracked-yet-accurate take on technology and society.

An anthology series in the vein of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, Black Mirror -- from creator Charlie Brooker -- deals with dark, sometimes-satirical themes relating to the decline of human interaction and empathy with the rise of new technologies. Not every episode is a sci-fi mindbender, but every episode is more or less about how our mechanisms for caring and sympathy are on the brink of crumbling. Sometimes Black Mirror shows us the dark side of where we are now, sometimes it gives us grim glimpses of where we might be headed. Every time though, it's a mesmerizing ride.
