Overwatch Season 3 Starts Sooner Than Expected
Blizzard has announced that Overwatch's third season of competitive play will begin December 1.
It's a quick turnaround for the team-based shooter, as Season 2 is set to end November 24. Blizzard will also tinker with Overwatch skill ratings and tiers for Season 3, according to principal designer Scott Mercer.
For starters, Overwatch players will most likely begin Season 3 with a lower skill rating. This is in response to too many people starting Season 2 in the Gold and Platinum skill tiers (creating considerable variation), then falling down to Bronze and Silver after the fact.

Arrow: Is Vigilante Secretly Prometheus?
Arrow recently added another major player to the Season 5 lineup with the debut of Adrian Chase (played by Josh Segarra), a character who will have increased importance on the show.
For now, Chase is simply Star City's new District Attorney, but it's only a matter of time until the show begins exploring his nightly exploits as the costumed hero Vigilante. As both DA and Vigilante, Chase looks to be a valuable ally in Oliver Queen's never-ending crusade to save his city. But is that really the case? We think that not only is Chase more foe than friend to Team Arrow, but he may even be the man underneath Prometheus' hood. Here's our theory about how the two characters are one and the same.
In Tyranny, Fallout: New Vegas Devs Go Old-School
Fans of RPGs are always looking for games where choices really matter. For years, Obsidian has been at forefront of experimenting with player choice, with ambitious projects like Alpha Protocol and Fallout: New Vegas both filled with fascinating ideas but rushed execution. With Tyranny, Obsidian is going all-in on player choice.
Two things make Tyranny super well-suited for this kind of role-playing: 1) it’s based on the Pillars of Eternity engine, and 2) you play as a villain. The Pillars engine was an intentional throwback to 1990s RPGs like Baldur’s Gate, and it gives Tyranny a couple advantages. First, it’s built around text. Tyranny is a video game for people who like to read, and the potential amount of text gives the game’s writers and designers the space to add in-depth options, like spending an hour exhausting every single option in a party member’s dialogue.

Walking Dead Premiere Draws 17 Million Viewers
AMC's The Walking Dead reached 17 million viewers during its October 23 premiere, taking the top spot for broadcast and cable programming.
The Walking Dead beat out Sunday Night Football, Empire, and its own Season 6 premiere, according to Deadline. The Season 7 premiere, "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be," just missed record-breaking numbers currently held by the Season 5 premiere from 2014.
Season 5's opener reached 17.3 million total viewers, with 11 million of those in the 18-49 age demographic. That's a two percent decline in total viewers and a 10 percent dip in the 18-49 age demographic. Compared to the Season 6 premiere, though, Season 7 was up 16 percent. From the Season 6 finale, Sunday's premiere was up 20 percent in total.
Comic Writer Reflects on the Fate of Red Robin
DC's revamped Detective Comics series has been at the forefront of their new rebirth lineup this year. So far, writer James Tynion has introduced a new team of costumed heroes led by Batman and Batwoman, severely complicated the relationship between Kate Kane and her estranged father, and delivered what might be the most emotionally devastating issue of the DC Rebirth era so far. Not bad for an opening story arc.
Warning: this article contains spoilers for recent issues of Detective Comics!
Tynion is now kicking off his second major arc in Detective Comics #943 this week. "The Victim Syndicate" introduces a group of villains with very personal grievances against the Batman family. We recently had a chance to chat with Tynion at length about the new arc and the general future of Detective Comics. Check out our exclusive preview of issue #943 below, and then read on to find out how Batman's team is dealing with the loss of Red Robin Tim Drake, why the Victim Syndicate are out for revenge, and what's in store for Batwoman as she prepares to fly solo once more.
Cumberbatch Plays 2 Marvel Characters in Doctor Strange
Spoilers!
No, seriously, this story contains lots of spoilers for Marvel's Doctor Strange, which came out in UK theatres today.
Doctor Strange features a secondary villain, the Dread Dormammu, who is summoned by Mads Mikkelsen's Kaecilius. Dormammu plays a significant part in the film's final act, yet no actor is listed as playing the role in the closing credits.
When IGN asked the movie's director Scott Derrickson who played Dormammu, he confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch, in part, brought the iconic Marvel villain to life.
"The voice was a British actor whose name I don't know, and Benedict – Benedict did the facial capture for it," revealed Derrickson.
