Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 are now both backward compatible on Xbox One, EA and Bioware have announced as part of the N7 Day Mass Effect announcements.

The original Mass Effect has already been available via Xbox One's backward compatibility feature, making the full original trilogy available to play on the console ahead of Mass Effect Andromeda's launch next year.

The announcement came as part of EA's suite of N7 Day reveals, which included the box art, special editions, and more details on 2017's Mass Effect Andromeda.

Blizzard Has No Plans to Remaster Warcraft 1 or 2

Diablo 1 may be coming to Diablo 3 (which remains a weird bit of temporal engineering in my head), but Blizzard doesn't have widespread plans to resurrect its oldest and most storied games.

At Blizzcon this weekend, a fan (as noted by Eurogamer) asked whether the first two Warcraft RTS games - which helped set the stage for World of Warcraft, Hearthstone and the entire MOBA genre - could see a remaster one day. The short answer: no.

"We are fortunate enough to have all of the original source code and assets to everything we've done in the past," explained Blizzard co-founder, Jack Pearce. "But actually, it turns out, it's really hard to access that stuff, unlock it, and figure out how it all works. Because we're old, we've forgotten.

Pokemon Go Update Adds Details for Gold and Silver Pokemon

Datamining has revealed that Pokemon Go's latest update adds details for 100 new Pokemon, all from Pokemon Gold and Silver, as well as fresh evidence of the original 151's most mysterious absentee, Ditto.

According to TheSilphRoad, the Android version of the game's 0.45.0 patch added references in the game's code to Pokemon numbered 152-251 - the entirety of the Pokemon Gold and Silver Pokedex. That includes starters Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile, legendaries Lugia, Ho-oh and Celebi, and anime favourites Pichu and Togepi.

However, accompanying movesets have not been added for the new Pokemon, meaning these are simply references to actual content, which would need to be added with another update in the future - essentially, while it could arrive at any time, this isn't necessarily a sign that it will be anytime soon.

Akuma Will Be Street Fighter 5’s Next DLC Character

Akuma has been revealed as the next playable character in Street Fighter V.

The teaser trailer below was shown after the Red Bull Battle Grounds finals, and we also get a quick look at a new stage featuring what looks like a ruined dojo.

The kanji on Akuma's back may be unfamiliar to some, but those who've played Capcom vs. SNK 2 may recognize it from Shin Akuma in that game. According to EventHubs, it literally translates to something along the lines of "god like."

Akuma will be playable at the PlayStation Experience, which is set to take place at the Anaheim Convention Center on December 3-4 later this year.

Capcom Questions Multiplatform Ports to Nintendo Switch

Capcom is currently planning what it will develop for the Nintendo Switch, but has indicated that it may not be bringing games designed for PS4 or Xbox One to the new console.

Nintendo has long been criticised for its relatively underpowered hardware, and the resulting lack of attention from third-party developers and publishers. In that regard, hopes for the Switch were raised when its reveal trailer showed the console seemingly running Skyrim: Special Edition and an NBA 2K game, as well as when Nintendo revealed a fairly comprehensive list of third-party partners for the platform.

8 Years Later, Turtle Rock Releases Left 4 Dead’s Final Campaign

Turtle Rock Studios has released a final campaign for the first-person survival horror game, Left 4 Dead.

Left 4 Dead first released in 2008. The unreleased level, Dam It, "stitches together" Dead Air and Blood Harvest and includes a couple of Survival maps not previously released, either.

Here's a bird's eye view of what it entails, complete with annotations from the development team:
