Ubisoft to Stop Charging for Some Kinds of DLC
As Ubisoft seeks to extend the life of its games with continued support for five to ten years after launch, the publisher will no longer charge for DLC that is inherent to the core experience.
"The key is if it's not adding something on-top of the actual experience of the game, then it is no good. Because you'll be asking for more money for the wrong reasons," Ubisoft VP of live operations Anne Blondel-Jouin told GamesIndustry.biz.
"Also, if the content is compulsory for the gamers, it's no good as well," she added, likening the situation to an amusement park, where the entry fee grants you access to all the rides, but you have to pay extra for merchandise and food.

New Conan Exiles Gameplay Showcases Monsters and Gods
Conan Exiles, the upcoming open-world survival game from Norway-based Funcom, will launch in early access on the PC and Xbox One in early 2017.
The fantasy survival game will hit PC first on January 31, followed by an Xbox One version in spring 2017 as part of the Xbox One Game Preview program. The early access release dates were revealed in the brand new gameplay trailer below, which showcases new elements of the game.
The new footage highlights the scavenging, fighting, and building that the developer has already revealed, but the welcome new look at monsters and mythical powers players will interact with are the real highlight of the trailer.
According to the developer, players will be able to "sacrifice the beating hearts of your enemies on the blood-soiled altars of your deity to summon the colossal avatar of your god and see them lay waste to your enemies and their homes." One would assume that awesome-looking metal colossus punching a gigantic serpent at the end of the trailer is a depiction of that.
