The Walking Dead Toned Back Gore After S7 Premiere
After a bloody violent Season 7 premiere, The Walking Dead has dialed down the gore.
The show's executive producer Gale Anne Hurd revealed at the 2017 National Association of Television Program Executives conference that the Walking Dead team did make a conscious decision about lowering the level of violence on The Walking Dead following feedback from fans, Deadline reports. After the backlash to the premiere and "feedback on level of violence," "we did tone it down for episodes we were still filming," she said.
"This is not a show that’s torture porn," Hurd added. "Let’s make sure we don’t cross that line."

This is Us Renewed for Season 2 and Season 3
Multiple season renewals are still quite rare in network TV, making it pretty notable when NBC announced they had renewed This is Us for both Season 2 and Season 3 at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today.
This is Us has been a huge hit for NBC, becoming the number one new show of the 2016-2017 TV season on any network. Both Season 2 and Season 3 will consist of 18 episodes, committing the network to at least 36 more hours of the series.
Said NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke, in a statement. “This is Us is as good as anything we’ve ever had. We’re thrilled to renew it for two seasons and there’s no doubt it will have a long life on NBC. On behalf of everyone at NBC, we’re grateful for the artistry of the cast, crew, and producers assembled by our gifted creator, Dan Fogelman. In a world where there are literally hundreds of television dramas, we’re proud to have one of the very best that is also one of the highest-rated.”

Spider-Man: Miles Morales Hero of Sony’s Animated Film
Move over, Peter Parker, because Miles Morales will be swinging onto the silver screen in Sony's animated Spider-Man movie.
Sony Picture Animation president Kristine Belson has announced that the film will focus on Morales. This follows rumors from last year that the black-Hispanic teenager would serve as the star of the animated Spider-Man instead of Parker.
In a pre-recorded intro to the press, the film's producer Phil Lord said, "There are a ton of amazing surprises in this movie. The animated nature of it allows us to go places where we’ve never gone before. The thing that inspires us most about Spider-Man is that anyone can wear that mask. I think that’s why the character is so popular. That underneath there you can be any race, creed or color. You can be any gender. And everybody can kind of project themselves into that hero and that’s the kind of movie we’re trying to make.”

Star Trek: Discovery Debut Pushed Back Again
Star Trek: Discovery's premiere has been delayed once again.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the series will no longer premiere in May and that there's currently no new release date set for the show. There are a few reasons for this second delay (the series was originally scheduled to debut in February), one of which is that the producers are still deciding on directors, special effects, set design, and other aspects of the show's production.
The second reason is that there's some concern regarding promoting their new star Sonequa Martin-Green in May, as she's a major cast member of The Walking Dead and that show's sixth season will still be airing through April.
Goosebumps 2 Is Coming
Sony Pictures has set a release date for Goosebumps 2.
The sequel to the successful kids horror comedy based on R.L. Stine's beloved books will hit theaters January 26, 2018. The first film's director Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens, Shark Tale) will return to helm the sequel. Screenwriter Darren Lemke (Turbo) will also come back to pen the new film, along with Deborah Forte (The Golden Compass) and Neal H. Moritz (22 Jump Street) returning to produce.
While the plot for Goosebumps 2 is still a mystery, Jack Black is expected to reprise his role as R. L. Stine. The sequel was announced earlier this year, and "the goal" at that time was to have Jack Black return to play the author in the new movie.
Will & Grace Returning With a New Season
It had been rumored as a possibility for a few months, but at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today, NBC officially announced that Will & Grace is returning with a brand new season.
The entire original cast -- Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally -- are back, as are Will and Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan will act as showrunners and executive producers. James Burrows, who directed every episode of the show during its initial eight-year run, is back as director and executive producer as well. The new season will consist of ten episodes and run sometime during the 2017-2018 TV season.
