The Batman: Apes Director Frontrunner to Replace Affleck

With Ben Affleck officially stepping down from directing The Batman, the film is now expected to get a "fresh start once a new creative team has been put together."

Forbes reports that Warner Bros. is trying to figure out which direction to take the movie in now. With a new director coming in -- War for the Planet of the Apes' Matt Reeves is reportedly the frontrunner to replace Affleck -- the project "will undergo substantial changes and possible/probably another full rewrite."

Humble Bundle Becomes a Games Publisher

Humble Bundle won't just sell games anymore, it's also going to publish them.

The company is beginning a multiplatform — including consoles — publishing and funding initiative. Humble Bundle is starting with seven games, such as the 3D platformer A Hat in Time and the farming game Staxel.

Crunchyroll Announces Its Own Anime Convention

Anime streaming service Crunchyroll announced it will host its very own convention this August.

Dubbed Crunchyroll Expo, this anime, manga, video games and cosplay-focused convention will have various exhibits and "feature a host of special events, premieres, and interactive features."

The expo will take place at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA and run from August 25 to August 27. Crunchyroll will be working with events company LeftField Media for the convention.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole Delayed Again

Ubisoft's upcoming South Park: The Fractured But Whole has been pushed back again.

During an earnings report today, Ubisoft said the game is now scheduled to release in its next fiscal year. Ubisoft's fiscal year will run from April 1, 2017 until March 31, 2018, meaning we won't be heading on down to South Park until at least April.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole was originally scheduled to release December 6, 2016, was delayed to the first quarter of 2017 back in September.

Grand Theft Auto 4 and All DLC Now Playable on Xbox One

Grand Theft Auto 4 and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City (which includes its two DLC episodes) are now playable on Xbox One as backwards compatible titles.

Announced on Rockstar Newswire, all versions of GTA 4 - including Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition - are now playable on Microsoft's console. Those who own digital copies on 360 can download the game now in the "ready to Install" section of the My Games and Apps menu.

The Lost and the Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony DLC packs are now purchasable, along with the base game, on the Xbox One store.

Netflix’s Trollhunters Renewed for Season 2

Netflix has renewed Trollhunters for a second season.

Series creator Guillermo del Toro shared the news with Entertainment Weekly, noting that the team behind the show has been "working on a second season for a while now." Season 2 will span a total of 13 episodes when it makes its debut on Netflix sometime later this year.

The DreamWorks animated series centers around a teenage warrior named Jim, who was voiced by Anton Yelchin in the first season. Del Toro addressed how Yelchin's death last year will affect the series, saying the producers knew right from the start that they "wanted to preserve as much of the performance of Anton as possible."

6 Reasons Why Injustice 2’s Combat Feels Different

At first glance, aside from a big visual upgrade, Injustice 2 seems to play awfully similar to the original for a numbered sequel. Heck, I even wrote about it. But after taking a closer look, there are more than a few subtle additions that come together to make Injustice 2 feel like a new game that requires a different approach.

I spoke to the folks over at NetherRealm Studios to really dial in to what’s new, what’s tweaked, and why it matters. Here’s what sets Injustice 2’s combat system apart from its predecessor.

For the cost of one meter segment, any character can turn their forward dash into a far-reaching roll maneuver that’s fully hit-invincible (but can be thrown) starting on frame 2, and for up to 16 frames. In plain terms, this gives everyone a way to blow through the keep-away/zoning tactics that made many characters in Injustice 1 feel unassailable (I’m looking at you, Supes).
