Resident Evil 7 Was the Best-Selling Game of January 2017
Capcom's Resident Evil 7 Biohazard was the top-selling game in the US for the month of January, according to The NPD Group.
The best-selling console was once again PlayStation 4, with the top-selling PS4 SKU remaining the Uncharted 4 500GB bundle. Interestingly, NPD said the third best selling console for the month was the NES Classic.
The release of Resident Evil 7 helped push overall sales numbers up for the month, 14% higher than last January. However, hardware spending saw a "19 percent decline versus January 2016," down to $127 million.
According to NPD, the last time Capcom had a game come out at the top of the month's sales was 2009's Resident Evil 5.
Grand Theft Auto V continues to be a dominant force and a huge driver of revenue for Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive. The game was the third-best selling for January 2016. Grand Theft Auto V has now sold 75 million copies since its 2013 release.

Why Is Batman Fighting Elmer Fudd?
Did you ever think you'd see the day when Batman added Elmer Fudd to his rogues gallery? Well get ready, because four of DC's most popular superhero characters are about to go to war with the Looney Tunes cast.
Today DC announced a quartet of "DC/Looney Tunes Specials" that mash up the DC and Looney Tunes universes. Check out the covers to all four specials below:
DC didn't reveal any other details about these new books, so we're not sure if they're meant to be isolated one-shots like March's DC/Hanna Barbera crossovers or if we're looking at a full-blown Justice League/Looney Tunes crossover. The idea sounds slightly less strange in the wake of recent crossovers like Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Justice League/Power Rangers.

Before Slenderman: Urban Legends That Inspired the Tall Guy
With a new movie hitting this weekend and the inevitable "is Slenderman real or fake" question popping up again, we figured it was time to look once more at some of the many other urban legends that came before the Tall Guy -- and which helped inspire his creation.
A dapper besuited fellow with a blank face and elongated limbs, the “creepypasta” Internet horror creation known as Slenderman was at first the work of one person -- Eric Knudsen (“Victor Surge”) -- writing on a forum called “Something Awful” in 2009. The eerie figure, inspired by everything from the works of H.P. Lovecraft, Stephen King, and the Silent Hill games, soon found his way into YouTube series and video games of his own, and, tragically, even influenced an infamous 2014 stabbing incident in which two young girls attacked a third girl in order to prove their loyalty to Slenderman.
