Christopher Lloyd to Star in Movie Based On Spirit Halloween Store
Back to the Future's Christopher Lloyd is returning to the big screen this fall in a new movie about, of all things, the costume and prop store, Sprit Halloween.
Variety reports that Lloyd will star alongside She's All That's Rachael Leigh Cook and El Camino's Marla Gibbs. The rest of the cast includes Donavan Colan, Dylan Frankel, Jaiden Smith, and Marissa Reyes. Production has already wrapped, with the movie set to release this October.
The movie, appropriately titled Spirit Halloween, features a new Sprit Halloween store popping up in a deserted strip mall (much like how they seem to crop up in the real world), causing three middle-school friends to challenge themselves to spend Halloween night locked in the store. However, the building is haunted by a spirit who possesses the animatronic characters in the store.
First-time director David Poag is helming the project, with the screenplay provided by Billie Bates. Strike Back Studios is producing the film, with an official promotional partnership with Spirit Halloween.
Shows and movies based on real-world toys and stores are hot right now. In fact, earlier today we got more casting news for the Barbie movie. Beyond that, we know Randall Park is set to star in a Netflix series taking place in the last surviving Blockbuster.
For more, check out how Christopher Lloyd is also set to appear in season 3 of The Mandalorian.

Stranger Things Season 4 Trailer Premieres Tomorrow
Netflix is set to reveal the first trailer for Stranger Things Season 4 tomorrow, April 12, 2022, thanks to a tip-off from a spooky clock that mysteriously appeared in Santa Monica, California.
Today, a mysterious grandfather clock from the Creel House appeared in Santa Monica. This clock has mysterious vines and smoke emanating from it, and it was cordoned off with yellow tape. But fans of Stranger Things will recognize that this is the same grandfather clock that's been teased in promotional material for Season 4.
Alongside the grandfather clock, a 24-hour live stream countdown began on the Stranger Things YouTube page. IGN can confirm that this countdown will lead to the full-length trailer for Stranger Things Season 4.

Will Ferrell Joins Margot Robbie’s Barbie Movie
Another high-profile celebrity is joining the star-studded cast of the upcoming Barbie film adaptation.
THR reports that Will Ferrell has signed onto the project. While his role hasn't been officially revealed, the report says Ferrell will play the CEO of a toy company that "may or not be" Mattel. Plot details for the movie are also still under wraps.
The Barbie cast already includes Margot Robbie as Barbie, and Ryan Gosling as Ken. Other cast members include Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, and America Ferrera. In addition to starring, Robbie is producing the film alongside David Heyman and Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner. The movie is planned for a theatrical release date sometime in 2023.

While the movie is now under control of Warner Bros., it was was once in development at Sony and had Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway attached at points throughout its rocky development.

Nic Cage’s Reddit AMA Became a Wholesome Internet Moment
Nicolas Cage participated in a Reddit AMA over the weekend, and it turned out to be a memorable event for fans and Cage alike. While fan reactions have been incredibly loving and positive, it was Cage himself who seemed to enjoy it most of all.
In an interview, Cage said the support from fans meant a lot to him.
"I have been blessed to have a very loyal group of film enthusiasts who've stuck by me through thick and thin and it meant a lot to me," Cage said. "And by the way, that was the highlight of my day. We did it together, and I thought it was a terrific interview. With all the folks that asked me questions, they were really great questions, really thoughtful, and I was deeply touched."
Earlier today on Reddit, many Nic Cage fans were remarking that it was "one of the best AMAs I've read", and "an all-timer", with others remarking at how genuine Cage seemed.
"I didn't really know much about Nic Cage before the AMA honestly, but I walked about from it thinking how insightful and genuine he seemed," Reddit user CrebTheBerc wrote. "I have a lot more respect for him now (not that I didn't before, I just thought he came across as a really sincere person). He seems like a really good dude on top of everything else. I totally agree, it was a REALLY good AMA".
Cage shared a lot about his life and career during the AMA. When asked what quote of his he hates hearing in public, Cage responded, "I don’t have a problem with any of the quotes, I’m glad they remember the movie."
The actor also shared a dream role he wants to play, saying, "I would like to play Jules Verne’s Captain Nemo because of the character’s love of the ocean I share that with him."
One Reddit user asked "If only 3 of your films could be preserved for posterity, which 3 would you choose?", and Cage selected Bringing Out the Dead, Pig, and Leaving Las Vegas. And, for movies he hasn't starred in, he says the two movies he can watch over and over again are Apocalypse Now and Spirited Away. You can learn much more about the beloved actor by scrolling through the full Reddit AMA.
Cage isn't slowing down any time soon. He is starring as himself in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which launches later this month. And, we know Cage is set to play Dracula in the upcoming movie Renfield.

Nimona Animated Movie Finds a Home On Netflix
After years in development, the long-awaited Nimona is heading to Netflix.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the online streamer has picked up the feature-length animation, based on the New York Times bestselling graphic novel by Noelle Stevenson.
“A Knight is framed for a crime he didn’t commit and the only person who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona, a shape-shifting teen who might also be a monster he’s sworn to kill,” reads the official synopsis.
“Set in a techno-medieval world unlike anything animation has tackled before, this is a story about the labels we assign to people and the shapeshifter who refuses to be defined by anyone.”
The upcoming animated feature will appear on Netflix sometime in 2023.
Chloe Grace Moretz will voice Nimona with Riz Ahmed as Ballister Boldheart alongside Eugene Lee Yang as Ambrosius Goldenloin. Directors Nick Bruno and Troy Quane will helm the film which began production earlier this year.
Netflix is partnering with Annapurna for the Nimona film after it was left in the lurch following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Originally in production by Blue Sky Studios, the company was closed following the merger – leaving Nimona’s fate hanging in the balance.
Nimona was eventually shuttered despite a planned January 2022 release with Disney announcing that production had been halted and the film would no longer be released.
According to former Blue Sky employees, Disney was concerned with Nimona’s depiction of a same-sex kiss – much the same as its previous issues with Pixar’s Lightyear. The film’s original director Patrick Osborne has since been replaced as Nimona finds a new home.
Elsewhere, Stevenson’s Lumberjanes is being turned into an animated series for HBO Max. She also recently helmed Netflix’s She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
Nimona was first published in 2015 as a graphic novel after it first debuted online as a webcomic.

SonSon will be a free download with this collection, and pre-orders / early purchases of Capcom Fighting Collection will also get Three Wonders as a bonus at launch.
More info soon! pic.twitter.com/mbvrpwr7LB
The announcement didn't reveal much else but promised that more information would be available soon. Fans may not have to wait long, as Capcom Arcade Stadium was released just two months after it was revealed in December 2020.
The original also featured 32 classic Capcom games including Ghosts 'n Goblins, Final Fight, and Street Fighter II. While players could enjoy them in their original forms, the collection added several other features, including the ability to rewind and speed up gameplay, and more.
When IGN reviewed SonSon when it was re-released in 2011, we gave it a 6/10 and said it wasn't worth the $8 cost. "While this monkey boy's journey is admittedly cute and kind of fun, its value for the cash is just too far off for it to earn a firm recommendation."

New Percy Jackson Disney Plus Series Has Its Percy
Disney Plus' upcoming Percy Jackson series officially has its Percy. Walker Scobell is joining Percy Jackson and the Olympians series to play the titular hero, according to Variety.
“Walker Scobell is an incredibly talented young man who blew us away with his audition tapes for the role of Percy,” said Riordan in a statement. “It was obvious to me and the rest of the team that Walker had the perfect mix of comedic timing, sweetness, rebelliousness, snark, and heroism to embody our hero, Percy Jackson.”
The upcoming series will tell the story of Percy Jackson – a 12-year-old modern demigod who is coming to terms with his superpowers when Zeus accuses him of stealing his legendary lightning bolt. It directly adapts the best-selling novels by Rick Riordan.
Scobell recently landed his breakout role as a young Adam in The Adam Project opposite Ryan Reynolds as an older version of the same character. IGN’s own review praised Scobell for his ability to trade quips with Reynolds:
“Walker Scobell is an absolute revelation, too. The young newcomer really digs into what makes young Adam tick, piloting his favorite video game like an ace while getting the crap kicked out of him at school. Best of all, the chemistry between young and future Adam is just about perfect.”
According to author and producer Rick Riordan, Scobell is already a Percy Jackson superfan, too.
“Aside from being a rising star, Walker is also a super-fan of the books, having read everything through The Trials of Apollo,” he said.
“The excitement is so thick you could cut it with a Celestial bronze sword. Walker is an avid skateboarder and skier, and is super excited to get to Vancouver and start working on swordplay, holding his breath underwater, and other stunts of derring-do.”
The new Percy Jackson series was among a handful of projects announced for Disney+ back in 2020 along with the upcoming Baymax! Show.

Cyberpunk 2077 Is Far From Finished: “We Are All Aware There Is Work To Be Done”
While Cyberpunk 2077 has significantly improved from its notoriously difficult launch, a developer from CD Projekt says the game still has a long way to go. In a video posted on the Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit, Quest Director Paweł Sasko shared some behind-the-scenes information about Cyberpunk 2077. When asked if CD Projekt is planning to deliver a DLC expansion this year, Sasko explained the studio's priorities.
"I can assure you that we are working [on an] expansion, we're working [on] stuff for you guys besides that," Sasko said. "That didn't change, we are still improving the game because we are all aware there is work to be done."
Sasko also expressed appreciation for the positive feedback they've received about Cyberpunk 2077's next-gen release, adding that the fan reaction has given the developers more incentive to work hard on the game.
"We're very happy you guys liked [Patch 1.5], and that gives us more...incentive to work for you guys because you show your appreciation for it," Sasko said. "That's as much as I can tell you. We are working on stuff for you. Like I'm literally daily reviewing quests, talking to people about stuff, so it is happening."
While we don't know much about Cyberpunk 2077's story expansion yet, there were reports back in November that CD Projekt was allocating more resources to work on the game's expansion. The developer certainly has its hands full, between Cyberpunk updates and DLC, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's next-gen upgrade, and the recently-announced next game in The Witcher franchise.
The new Witcher game is still surely years away, giving CD Projekt time to focus on Cyberpunk's redemption story. When it's running well, Cyberpunk 2077 is an amazing game, as we said in our review of the PC version of the game back in 2020. However, it was a different story for the last-gen console launch, where terrible performance and game-breaking bugs ruined the experience.
Fast forward to February 2022, where Cyberpunk 2077's 1.5 patch finally included the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S release, along with a handful of gameplay fixes and content changes. For the most part, fans are very happy with the new update, as Cyberpunk 2077 has started to feel more like the game players anticipated for years. Since the 1.5 update, Cyberpunk 2077 has received another patch that includes even more bug fixes.

Sony And LEGO’s Parent Company Are Investing Billions Of Dollars in Epic Games
Sony is investing a further $1 billion in Fortnite publisher Epic Games. The investment is intended to deepen Sony's investment in the metaverse, adding to the $450 million it invested in Epic Games last year.
CEO of Sony Group Corporation Kenichiro Yoshida said: "As a creative entertainment company, we are thrilled to invest in Epic to deepen our relationship in the metaverse field, a space where creators and users share their time.
"We are also confident that Epic’s expertise, including their powerful game engine, combined with Sony’s technologies, will accelerate our various efforts such as the development of new digital fan experiences in sports and our virtual production initiatives."
Epic Games CEO and founder Tim Sweeney added: "As we reimagine the future of entertainment and play we need partners who share our vision. We have found this in our partnership with Sony and KIRKBI.
"This investment will accelerate our work to build the metaverse and create spaces where players can have fun with friends, brands can build creative and immersive experiences and creators can build a community and thrive."
KIRKBI, the company behind LEGO, also invested $1 billion, just days after Epic Games and The LEGO Group announced a new collaboration to create a child-friendly space within the metaverse.
Epic Games announced its intentions in the metaverse last April when Sony made its initial investment of $200 million, saying it wanted to expand the social experiences in its games while supporting the people that make them.
The metaverse it hopes to create, which is being supported with these billion dollar investments from Sony and KIRKBI, revolves around interconnectivity. Sweeney has said previously that he hopes to see major tech forms begin to share the digital space more and more to create a fluid online experience for its consumers.
His company isn't the only gaming giant to invest in the metaverse though, as PUBG: Battlegrounds developer Krafton recently partnered with other tech firms to create its own NFT-based version while Bandai Namco is to spend $130 on its "IP metaverse".

The Batman Will Officially Arrive on HBO Max Next Week
The Batman officially arrives on HBO Max on April 18 before airing on traditional HBO on April 23. The release date was previously thought to be a day later on April 19 due to a glitch on the HBO website, as reported by Deadline, but the streaming platform has now confirmed the official release date.
It continues Warner Bros.' trend of releasing its films on HBO Max exactly 45 days after their theatrical release, where The Batman has currently grossed $359 million domestically and $735 million worldwide.
The opportunity to watch and rewatch the film will likely lead to further speculation on what's next for Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight. While a sequel isn't confirmed at the moment, there are two TV shows set in the same universe already on the way: one focused on Colin Farrell's Penguin, and a Gotham PD series that tells a "haunted house" style story based in Arkham.
The cast and crew have shared what they'd like in a proper film sequel, though. Pattinson himself wants to see a take on the Court of Owls saga while director Matt Reeves hopes to bring Mr. Freeze to his dark and gritty Batman universe.
In our 10/10 review, IGN said: "Matt Reeves’ violent, thrilling, darkly beautiful take on The Batman more than justifies its place in the franchise’s canon."
