The Flash: Zemeckis, Vaughn, Raimi Up to Direct
Robert Zemeckis, Matthew Vaughn, and Sam Raimi are reportedly the top choices to direct the solo Flash movie.
Variety reports Zemeckis and Vaughn are in a shortlist of directors for Warner Bros., but a deal for either of the two leading candidates has not been made yet. There are reportedly scheduling conflicts stopping Zemeckis and Vaughn from fully committing to the project.
Vaughn is already cooking up a concept for a third Kingsman movie, while Zemeckis' next film, an untitled Universal movie starring Steve Carell, will begin production this August. It's reported that Warner Bros. wants to start development on The Flash as soon as this year.
Ubisoft Clarifies Avatar Game Release Window Plans
Ubisoft offered an update on its major releases for the next two upcoming years, including a new Assassin's Creed, Far Cry 5, and more. Not included in the update was Massive Entertainment's Avatar game, and Ubisoft has clarified that players shouldn't expect it in the next couple of years.
During today's Ubisoft earnings call, the publisher outlined plans to release eight AAA games in the next two years, but the Avatar game will not be one of them. In a statement provided to IGN, a representative for Ubisoft confirmed that there are no plans to release the game well ahead of Avatar 2's December 18, 2020 release date. According to Ubisoft, the new Avatar game "won't be released before FY21," or fiscal year 2021. For Ubisoft's financial calendar, that means the Avatar game will not be debuted before April 1, 2020.
11 Villains We Love to Hate
No matter the medium, most stories are only as good as their villains. Whether its an intergalactic entity bent on obliterating existence, or an ornery teacher with a penchant for punishment, a great antagonist is there to constantly provide friction between our heroes and their ultimate goals. But the best villains carry a sort of gravity to them that makes it impossible for us to look away.
Here are 11 of the villains we love hating the most.
BioShock is one of the defining games of the past decade, and Andrew Ryan’s incredible presence is no small part of that. The founder of his “paradise” known as Rapture, Ryan’s voice in the player’s ear acts as the carrot on the stick that propels each and every action you take. His selfish actions ultimately led to the downfall of the city, and the brutal demise of all of its citizens. But Ryan’s lasting legacy comes in the revelations during the final moments of his life. When both Jack, the character you control, as well as the players themselves come to the realization that we’re all just pawns in a much larger scheme, the phrases “Would you kindly?” and “A man chooses, a slave obeys,” became forever etched in video game history. -- Marty Sliva

Fassbender May Return as Magneto in X-Men: Dark Phoenix
20th Century Fox's upcoming X-Men film Dark Phoenix may feature Michael Fassbender's Magneto.
In a post on Twitter, MTV News correspondent Josh Horowitz teased the potential involvement of Fassbender in Dark Phoenix, but dashed hopes of him appearing in New Mutants. "Want to know Fassbender's X-Men future? Bet big on him appearing in Dark Phoenix but not New Mutants. Oh, I just saw Michael Fassbender BTW," Horowitz said.
IGN has reached out to a source for comment and will provide an update if we receive a response.
Earlier this year, X-Men series producer Lauren Shuler Donner shed light on what lies ahead for Magneto, saying future X-Men movies will move beyond his relationship with Professor X.
