WWE Backlash Results and Reaction

No House of Horrors match at Backlash unfortunately, but WWE Champion Randy Orton may be facing his own version of hell in the form of a hostile Chicago crowd all pissed off about his recent comments regarding indie wrestling.

Is challenger Jinder Mahal, the Maharaja, heading in as a default fan favorite? Hell, people just might cheer him because they want something new and don't like Orton as champ. I know that's why I'm backing him.

Resident Evil Film Franchise Getting a Reboot

The Resident Evil movie franchise is getting a reboot.

At the Cannes Film Festival, Martin Moszkowicz, chairman of the board at Constantin Film, confirmed to Variety that a reboot is in the works. There's currently no word on who will star or direct the project, and Constantin Film is also remaining tight-lipped about story details.

The prior series, which spanned six movies, starred Milla Jovovich as Alice. Considering the final installment, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, concluded Alice's story when it released last year, it's unlikely that Jovovich will be involved in the reboot.

George Romero’s Next Film Is a Race Car Zombie Movie

Night of the Living Dead filmmaker George A. Romero's next project is a race car zombie movie.

Romero co-wrote the film, titled George A. Romero Presents: Road of the Dead, with Matt Birman, who's also directing. The movie will make its way to Frontières, the Fantasia International Film Festival’s annual film co-production market in Montreal, which takes place from July 20 to July 23, according to Indiewire.

Birman was a second unit director on Romero's last three films, including Survival of the Dead, Diary of the Dead and Land of the Dead. He first pitched the idea of Road of the Dead almost 10 years ago, which Birman says takes heavy inspiration from Ben-Hur, Rollerball and The Road Warrior. The story follows zombie prisoners racing cars for the wealthy in a modern-day Coliseum on a remote island.

Alien: Covenant Edges Past Guardians 2 to Top Box Office

After a two-week run as box office champ, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was dethroned by Alien: Covenant, which debuted in first place at the domestic box office with an estimated $36 million.

Alien: Covenant's opening is far behind its processor, Prometheus, which had a $51.1 million domestic opening in 2012. The film has made an estimated $81.8 million so far internationally, which, added to its domestic debut, makes for a current worldwide total of $117.8 million.

It's also important to note that, given Covenant's reported $100 million budget, which doesn't include marketing costs, Ridley Scott's new sci-fi horror film has a long way to go before becoming profitable, as movies generally need to make at least two and a half times what they cost to produce to be considered profitable.

Alien: Covenant’s 6 Biggest WTF Questions

While Alien: Covenant resolved some of the questions we had after watching Prometheus, it threw up plenty of its own. Here are the ones we're still thinking about long after leaving the cinema.

At the end of Prometheus, David promises to take Elizabeth to the Engineers’ homeworld. But upon arrival, he proceeds to eradicate our creators, dropping thousands of canisters of black goo on them.

David acts like he’s eradicated an entire species, but are we supposed to believe this relatively small city is the full extent of such an advanced civilisation?

Next Terminator Film ‘Moving Forward,’ Says Schwarzenegger

The next Terminator film from producer James Cameron is indeed on the way with Arnold Schwarzenegger on board to appear in the film.

Schwarzenegger confirmed the project "is moving forward" and that he "will be in the movie" when speaking to ScreenDaily at Cannes 2017. He also said Cameron "has some good ideas of how to continue with the franchise."

Back in March, it was reported that Paramount is gearing up to announce a Terminator reboot this year, despite rumors claiming the franchise was being shelved. While a sequel to Terminator Genisys was originally scheduled to release on May 19, 2017 , the studio removed the project from its release schedule in January of last year.

Dinosaur Mummy Discovered

Scientists in Alberta, Canada have revealed what they are calling the first "dinosaur mummy."

According to National Geographic, the dinosaur, which is currently on display at the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology, was given the distinction because of its highly preserved state, with its skin, armor, and even some guts still intact. The mummy's unprecedented quality of preservation has led some scientists to proclaim it the best preserved dinosaur specimen ever discovered.

How To Watch Twin Peaks

This weekend, it’s happening again. The long-awaited revival of Twin Peaks is hitting Showtime on Sunday, May 21 at 9pm. Fans of the series have been waiting over a quarter century to get answers from this show. And we’re not sure how welcoming it will be for new viewers. It is a David Lynch show, after all. There’s every chance that you could be lost in the weirdness even if you’ve seen all of the episodes.

But this is an important moment for Peak TV. Twin Peaks was Lost before Lost. Twin Peaks was The X-Files before The X-Files. And most of all, Twin Peaks was the first modern TV genre drama to truly capture the imagination of millions of TV viewers. No one expected Twin Peaks to suddenly breakout and become a part of the cultural zeitgeist. Yet for one glorious season, Twin Peaks was everything. And then in 1991, it all went away during the second season, leaving fans on a cliffhanger that would never be resolved...until now.
