Original Xbox Games To Become Backwards Compatible on Xbox One
Update: Microsoft's Albert Penello has provided a few more details about original Xbox games on Xbox One:
Your original Xbox discs will work. Digital licenses will carry over. AND you can system-link play across all three generations.
— Albert Penello (@albertpenello) June 12, 2017
It all sounds slightly magical. Those digital licenses presumably apply to things like DLC, which will still be tied to Xbox Live accounts you may have carried across consoles over the years.
Original Story: Original Xbox games will become backwards compatible on Xbox One later this year.
Xbox One X Price Revealed
Xbox One X will cost USD $499 when it launches on November 7, 2017, Microsoft announced today at Xbox's E3 press conference. Pricing for other territories has also been confirmed: £449, €499, AUD $649, and CAD $599.
Microsoft revealed Xbox One X as the official name of Project Scorpio earlier in its conference.
Originally codenamed 'Project Scorpio,' Microsoft's next console has a CPU that runs 30 percent faster than the one powering the current Xbox One, and boasts a GPU that is 4.6 times more powerful, though it is still part of the Xbox One family. We recently got a glimpse of the Xbox One X dev kits, which have more power than the consumer version of the console.
We Played Assassin’s Creed Origins on Xbox One X
After a long, winding road of leaks, Ubisoft officially revealed Assassin’s Creed Origins on stage at Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference. Taking a year off after 2015’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the team behind 2013’s incredible Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is behind the wheel of this year’s game, which takes the series back to the furthest point yet, Egypt in the year 49 BCE, in telling the origin story of the Brotherhood.
We got to play about an hour of Assassin's Creed Origins running on the Xbox One Xbox One X. Here’s what we thought.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps Revealed
Ori and the Will of the Wisps has been announced.
Announced with a wordless trailer during Microsoft's E3 press briefing - set to live piano - the painterly platformer is a follow-up to 2015's Ori and the Blind Forest.
We awarded the first game an 8.5 review, calling it a "beautifully realized, brilliantly designed, and at times brutally difficult sylvan Metroidvania-style platformer".
