Sony first announced that Insomniac Games was working on a Spider-Man game in June 2016. It’s scheduled to release in 2018 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Let’s take a look at everything we know so far about this game, including news, trailers, and previews.

It was during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference that we first heard about the Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac making Spider-Man. The announcement came in the form of a teaser trailer you can watch above.

While the trailer might look like CG, it was actually made in-engine and powered by a standard PS4.

PS4 Sales Exceed 60 Million Worldwide

Sony Interactive Entertainment today confirmed that over 60.4 million PlayStation 4 consoles have been sold to consumers. Sony announced the milestone in the wake of its E3 2017 showcase event. The figure includes sales made up to June 11, 2017.

Sony also provided an update on the number of games sold via regular retail and digital sales; that figure now stands at 487.8 million, also as of June 11.

These figures are estimates based on sales data collected by Sony in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Sony also noted it has 26.4 million paid PlayStation Plus subscribers worldwide as of the end of March, 2017.

“We are very grateful for our fans and partners around the globe who have continued to support PS4,” said Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Andrew House in a statement. “The PS4 platform is in its prime, with the industry’s best lineup of exclusive and partner titles slated to release this year, taking full advantage of the power of the PS4 system.”

Grey’s Anatomy Star Joins Detroit: Become Human

Quantic Dream's upcoming neo-noir adventure, Detroit: Become Human, has a new cast member: Grey's Anatomy star Jesse Williams.

The actor plays a character named Marcus, and he was unveiled in a new gameplay demo on-stage, which saw him leading a group of androids in revolt against Detroit's humans.

Williams confirmed the news on Twitter, where he retweeted several mentions of the latest footage and simply said "It goes down in Detroit." Developer Quantic Dream confirmed on Twitter that Marcus is the third playable character in Detroit, joining previously-revealed characters Kara and Connor.

Crackdown 3: All Gameplay, News, Trailers

Microsoft first announced Crackdown 3 during its presentation at E3 2014. Players can finally expect to get their hands on the game when it launches on Xbox One and PC November 7, 2017.

Crackdown games are open-world action adventures that put you in the shoes of a super cop who has to re-take a city from well-armed enemies. Microsoft promises Crackdown 3 will be the most impressive installment yet.

As expected, Microsoft devoted a portion of its E3 2017 presentation to Crackdown 3. The centerpiece of the coverage was a trailer that features an exuberant Terry Crews along with a bunch of gameplay.

Also announced was the game's official release date: November 7, 2017. It's probably no coincidence that November 7 is also the day Xbox One X launches.

Destiny 2 to Be Released Earlier on Consoles

Destiny 2 will now be released on September 6 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as opposed to its originally announced September 8 release date. It's available for preorder now.

Revealed during an E3 2017 PlayStation conference trailer, Bungie's Luke Smith confirmed that the new release date applies to a new release for the game on both PS4 and Xbox One. The PC version of Destiny 2 will be launched on October 24.

The game's beta will begin on PS4 on July 18 at 10 a.m PT, while those who preordered Destiny 2 on Xbox One can begin playing the beta on July 19 at 10 a.m. PT. The beta than opens up to all PS4 and Xbox One players on July 21 at 10 a.m. PT and will end on July 23 at 9 p.m. PT. The PC beta will begin sometime in August, with specific details to be released in the future.

Destiny 2 PS4-Exclusive Content Detailed

Destiny 2's exclusive content was revealed at Sony's E3 press conference tonight. Destiny 2 on PlayStation 4 will have:

  • Lake of Shadows: an exclusive strike
  • City Apex: an exclusive ship
  • Weapon Borealis: an exclusive exotic weapon
  • Retribution: an exclusive PVP map

Destiny players on PS4 have enjoyed exclusive content in the past, but these drops have been timed exclusives, eventually becoming available on Xbox One. The above will be available exclusively on PS4 until at least Fall 2018.

Spider-Man PS4 Coming in 2018

Insomniac Games' Spider-Man PS4 game, seemingly simply called Marvel Spider-Man, will be released in 2018, and will feature Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles Morales as well as Peter Parker. It's available for preorder now.

An extended gameplay trailer and an extra end-of-show tease at Sony's E3 press conference showed off some of Spider-Man's abilities, takedowns and (most importantly) wisecracks.

The demo also showed that Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin will be a character, as well as a gang called the Demons, led by Mister Negative, Martin Li. A character called Capt. Watanabe also appears to be the character currently known as Wraith in Marvel's comics.
