Knack 2: Why Sony Decided to Make a Sequel
This month's IGN First is a bit different than usual. Rather than highlighting a single game -- we'll get back to that next month -- we're highlighting the Japanese game industry as a whole. We visited some of the biggest studios in Japan to focus on their games and creative processes. Check back all month for interviews, gameplay reveals, and more!
PlayStation’s Japan Studio isn’t shy about admitting the original Knack wasn’t perfect. When a sequel was announced at last year’s PlayStation Experience, Sony was open about listening to fan feedback and trying to improve upon the first game, even including a line of in-game dialogue about Knack’s limited moveset.
Uncharted Series Likely to Continue After Lost Legacy
Despite releasing Nathan Drake's last game, Naughty Dog seems keen to keep the world of Uncharted alive.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy creative director and writer Shaun Escayg said that "to say the Uncharted world is done... I doubt that highly."
The upcoming Lost Legacy is a standalone game featuring returning side characters from the series (and, pointedly, definitely not featuring Nathan Drake in any capacity). Escayg seems to see that approach as a useful one for the future of the series:
Who Is Marvel’s New Ultimate Thor?
The Marvel Universe gained a third Thor in the pages of The Mighty Thor #20 today.
Warning: this article contains spoilers for The Mighty Thor #20!
Marvel has been teasing the debut of a third Thor for some time now, ever since it was revealed in Thors #4 that Ultimate Mjolnir survived the destruction of Battleworld and landed in the reborn Marvel Universe. For a while it seemed as though the Odinson himself would claim the hammer in the mini-series The Unworthy Thor, but in the end the former god of thunder decided to leave the hammer where it lay and wait for a truly worthy owner to arrive.
Play Sonic and Other Classic Sega Games on Your Phone
As convenient as modern smartphones have become, they've been lacking one feature: the ability to play Sega games for free. Thankfully, Sega has righted this wrong with the introduction of Sega Forever.
Sega Forever is a collection of free-to-play, ad-supported Sega games featuring offline play, "cloud saves, controller support, and leaderboards," according to Sega's mobile division Sega Networks Inc.
Once downloaded, the games can be unlocked and ads removed for $2. The first round of games includes the original Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star II, Comix Zone, Kid Chameleon and the Genesis port of Altered Beast. The games also include iMessage sticker packs.
Sega's Mike Evans said the collection is first and foremost "a celebration of nostalgia."

Kingsman Comic Sequel Announced With New Creative Team
A new six-issue comic book series, Kingsman: The Red Diamond has been announced, and will serve as a sequel to the miniseries that inspired the Kingsman film.
As reported by EW, The Red Diamond will not see original comic team Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons return, however. They're replaced by Rob Williams and Simon Fraser, who worked together previously on Doctor Who comics.
The first issue of The Red Diamond will be released on September 6 by Image Comics, preceded by a reprint of original series, The Secret Service (now rebranded Kingsman: The Secret Service, in line with the film).
Han Solo: Why Directors Lord and Miller Were Dropped
After Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were dropped as directors for the new Han Solo film, sources have come forward explaining the reasons behind Lucasfilm's decision.
The Hollywood Reporter states that sources say the pair were let go due to creative disagreements with screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, which confirms claims of creative differences when news of their departure from the movie first broke.
Kasdan (co-writer of The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens) reportedly prefers to remain strictly on script at all times. This is claimed to have clashed with Lord and Miller, who are said to favour a more improvisational and humorous style.
This Oscar Winner May be Our New Han Solo Director
On the heels of the news that Han Solo directors Phil Lord and Chris Miler were off the Star Wars spinoff mere weeks away from the completion of principal photography, three names have reportedly surfaced as possible 11th hour replacements. And all three filmmakers are past colleagues of Lucasfilm.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar winner Ron Howard is a contender to step in to helm. Howard directed Willow, based on a story by George Lucas, for Lucasfilm back in 1988. Howard was also once in the mix for helming The Phantom Menace, but he has said that he was never even formally offered a script for that film.
