Nintendo Will Produce ‘Significantly More’ SNES Classic Editions than NES Classic
Nintendo has committed to manufacturing a greater number of the newly announced SNES Classic Edition consoles than it did the NES Classic Edition, with current announced plans to ship the console only through the end of the year.
A statement provided to IGN by a Nintendo representative explains that Nintendo "will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition," though the company is declining to provide specific numbers at this time. Following the NES Classic's cancellation, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime told IGN the company shipped 2.3 million NES Classic Edition units worldwide.

If you’re familiar with Codemasters, you probably know this developer doesn’t let a year go by without dropping a new F1 game on the market. The F1 series is based on the Formula One World Championship, a yearly racing event that pits some of the fastest cars on the planet against one another. These games are sims, which means they’re all about realism. So if peeling through real tracks in actual cars at upwards of 200 miles an hour sounds like your kind of fun, this game should be on your radar. Notable features in this installment include the 2017 cars as well as a number of classic cars, which haven’t shown up in the series since F1 2013.

Super Mario 64 Mod Adds Odyssey’s Capture Mechanic
A new mod for Super Mario 64 adds one of Super Mario Odyssey's biggest gameplay features to the Nintendo 64 classic.
Nintendo modder Kaze Emanuar has a found a way to include Odyssey's capture mechanic in Super Mario 64, allowing you to control several different enemies using Mario's hat, like Goombas, Shy Guys and Bob-ombs. See the mod in action here, where Mario captures and controls floating platforms and blocks as well.
You can try out the capture mechanic yourself when Super Mario Odyssey releases on October 27 for Nintendo Switch. For more on the 3D platformer, check out our glowing Super Mario Odyssey preview to find out why we think the game is a "brilliantly bizarre adventure."
Nintendo’s Market Value Climbs Past Sony
Thanks to the success of Nintendo Switch and Pokemon Go, Nintendo's market value has climbed considerably, eclipsing Sony's entire electronics and entertainment divisions.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nintendo's market capitalization is now at $49.8 billion (5.56 trillion yen), just ahead of Sony Corporation's current market value of $48.6 billion (5.43 trillion yen).
It's important to note that because Sony's interests are significantly broader than Nintendo's, this isn't an an entirely straightforward comparison.
Since the release of Pokemon Go last year, Nintendo's stock is up a whopping 160 percent, having closed on Monday at 39,280 yen ($352), making for its highest value since 2008. Meanwhile, Sony's shares closed at 4,298 yen ($38.50), and the company's stock is currently up more than 42 percent compared to last year.
Don’t Worry, Capcom’s Not Dumbing Down Monster Hunter
If you’re a longtime Monster Hunter fan and came out of that Sony E3 keynote with a few worries about World, I have just the quote for you, straight from executive director Kaname Fujioka:
“We're not taking things that people in the west hate and fixing them to make western players buy it. People sometimes make that assumption, or they've got that fear, but that's not the case at all.”
Phew.
For those who love it, the appeal of Monster Hunter lies not just in its creature design and stupefyingly complex weaponry, but in how hard it makes you work to see it all. To get reductive for a moment, it’s a distinctly ‘un-western’ approach - today’s action big hitters all tend to smooth out any busywork, in favour of getting you from encounter to encounter at high speed. It makes perfect sense - just not for Monster Hunter.
Xbox One X Will Download 4K Patches, Regardless of TV
Microsoft has confirmed that all Xbox One games that feature 4K support will download its 4K assets for all Xbox One X users, regardless of their television.
When asked by Stevivor how the Xbox One family of consoles will handle sizable downloads for 4K supported games like Forza Motorsport 7, a Microsoft rep said, "With the launch of Xbox One X, when it comes to game content our intention is to download the correct assets to the correct console."
As such, the 4K asset patch will only be downloaded on Xbox One X, and not the S or original Xbox One models. "This means, regardless of the TV you are playing on, 4K assets will be downloaded to Xbox One X (if available) and the standard 1080p assets will be downloaded to an Xbox One S," Microsoft explained.
