The Batman Will Be a ‘Noir-Driven’ Detective Movie
Filmmaker Matt Reeves dropped some juicy morsels about his next project, Warner Bros.' next solo Batman movie, while promoting his new release, War for the Planet of the Apes.
In a chat with New Trailer Buzz (via Batman-News), Reeves explained that he was as much of a fan of the DC superhero as a child as he was of the Planet of the Apes film series. Reeves also drew comparisons between the Dark Knight and the protagonist of the new Apes trilogy, Caesar.
"I see a parallel, emotionally, between Caesar and Batman in that they're both characters who are tortured and trying to sort of grapple within themselves to find a way to do the right thing in a very imperfect, and to some degree corrupt, world," said Reeves. "And so it's really that emotionality that I'm interested in."
Hellboy Reboot Will Embrace Practical Effects and R Rating
Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen director Neil Marshall is looking forward to the flexibility of the film's R rating and using practical effects.
EW noticed that Marshall opened up about the Hellboy reboot on the podcast Post Mortem. "We’ve been granted permission to do it R-rated, which for me is just like taking the cuffs off," the filmmaker said.
"... It’s not like I’m going to force it to be R-rated, but if it happens to come out that way, just because of my own sensibilities, then fine. And nobody’s going to stop us. So, that’s the main

SNES Classics Already on eBay, With Huge Mark-Ups
Of all the social sciences, economics is perhaps the coldest and most unfeeling. If you need any proof, look no further than the outrageous mark-ups some sellers are already attaching to the only-just revealed Super NES Classic.
Econ 101 teaches us that when supply is vastly out-paced by demand, prices will rise, something that already played out with the NES Classic. Scalpers famously grabbed up as many as they could, choking off any readily available supply, and Nintendo itself only churned out a finite number, increasing the disparity even further. The result? NES Classics still sell for twice or more the manufacturer's suggested retail price.
As you can see from the slides, scalpers, or rather "resellers" are expecting similar supply and demand imbalances with the SNES Classic. We're hoping Nintendo learns from its mistakes with the NES Classic, but there's also the problem of unconstrained orders from online retailers. People used automated bots to order multiple units, causing headaches for anyone on the level and sometimes crashing retailer websites.
The Predator Has a Character Connection to Predator 2
Actor Gary Busey's son Jake will play his offspring in The Predator.
Gary Busey starred in Predator 2, portraying special agent Peter Keyes in the sequel. And now, just like in real life, Jake Busey will play his son for The Predator, according to Slashfilm.
called me and he said, ‘Hey, you wanna do this movie? We don’t have money for you, but it’ll be a fun thing to come play and be your father’s son,' said Jake Busey on The Red Booth. "And so as much as I have followed in my dad's footsteps career-wise, this is like really following in his footsteps by playing a character who is the son of the character he played."
Assassin’s Creed Rebellion Announced for iOS and Android
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise is coming back to mobile, with a free-to-play strategy game that takes some adorable liberties with the art style.
Assassin's Creed Rebellion is being developed by Behaviour Interactive. It offers a roster of 40 Assassins including fan favorites like Ezio, Aguilar, Shao Jun, Claudia, and Machiavelli. Roughly half of the assassins are brand-new to the franchise and created especially for Rebellion.
With such an expansive cast of characters, Rebellion is mostly about managing your guild. Players will build a Brotherhood HQ and map out rooms that enable new equipment for your assassins to take out on missions, with a look reminiscent of Bethesda's Fallout Shelter.
