GT Sport: Behind the Scenes With Polyphony Digital
This month's IGN First is a bit different than usual. Rather than highlighting a single game -- we'll get back to that next month -- we're highlighting the Japanese game industry as a whole. We visited some of the biggest studios in Japan to focus on their games and creative processes. Check back all month for interviews, gameplay reveals, and more!

It would appear that superheroes and video game characters don’t think much of one another. Presumably, that’s why they duke it out every few years in the Marvel vs. Capcom series. It’s been five years since Chun-Li last lightning-legged Iron Man, but they’re gearing up for another go-round with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. In case you haven’t been following along, be sure to read our hands-on preview to see how the game’s shaping up.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s Hard Medieval Living
With no magic, no elves, and not even a King Arthur, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is aiming for a grounded and realistic approach to open-world medieval roleplaying games. Oddly enough, that makes this February 2018 RPG feel distinctive next to the likes of The Elder Scrolls or The Witcher.
Developer Warhorse Studios says that aside from the personal story of your character, Harry, the events of a civil war in the Kingdom of Bohemia in the year 1403 are historically accurate. As you set out to avenge the death of your parents, who were killed in a raid on a village that actually happened, you join the service of a lord and play a role in the outcome of the war - which is, of course, fixed.
Valerian: What You Need to Know
Of all the upcoming comic-book movies currently in the works, there’s one in particular that’s not just an adaptation of a legendary series but also looks like it could be the most thrilling addition to the genre in some time. I’m talking, of course, about Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, set for release on July 21. The film, which stars Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne, is the most expensive ever produced in France, and is a lifelong passion project of co-producer, writer, and director Luc Besson.
Valerian is based on the French comic series Valerian and Laureline by writer Pierre Christin and artist Jean-Claude Mézières, which ran from 1967 to 2010 and was a highly influential work in the sci-fi and fantasy genres. Read on to find out more about the comics and what we should expect from the film (on top of the already gorgeous special effects we’ve seen in the trailers). There will be SPOILERS from the comics, although I’ve done my best to avoid giving away too many details of
The Ancient Magus’ Bride Anime Is Coming to North American Theaters This Summer
As part of its new Anime Movie Night initiative, Crunchyroll is bringing the first three episodes of the upcoming The Ancient Magus' Bride anime to theaters for one night.
On July 26, 300 select theaters across North America will show the episodes along with "exclusive Crunchyroll content extras," like a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of Crunchyroll and LeSean Thomas' upcoming Children of Ether. The first three episodes of The Ancient Magus' Bride anime are getting their public debut at Anime Expo this weekend.
The Ancient Magus' Bride began as a manga series that's receiving three prequel OVA by Wit Studio (Attack on Titan, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress). The studio is also handling the upcoming 24-episode anime series that's set to air in October, and its final The Ancient Magus' Bride OVA is set to air in September.
Zelda’s Midna Was Originally Designed for an Unreleased Nintendo Game
With the Master Trials DLC about to launch for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Nintendo has revealed that character Midna from Twilight Princess was originally slated for a different game.
In one of a series of articles about the upcoming DLC, Breath of the Wild's art director, Satoru Takizawa explains that after The Wind Waker had been completed, "there was a secret project we were considering working on before The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess."
Kirby’s Blowout Blast Gets a Release Date
3DS eShop title Kirby's Blowout Blast will be released on July 6, Nintendo has announced.
An expanded version of Kirby 3D Rumble - a mini-game in last year's Kirby: Planet Robobot - Blowout Blast see players trying to cpmplete 3D Kirby stages as fast as possible, while building points through combos. This version adds longer stages, as well as boss enemies.
Blowout Blast is the second of three new Kirby 3DS games announced in April to help celebrate Kirby's 25th birthday. The third, a multiplayer action game, is still something of a mystery, but will be released this holiday.

Here’s Why Michelle Rodriguez Might Leave Fast & Furious
Actress Michelle Rodriguez took to Instagram earlier to celebrate the digital release of The Fate of the Furious, and deliver a message to Universal about including more women in the franchise.
"F8 is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one," wrote Rodriguez. "Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise. It's been a good ride & Im
grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years... One Love."
Despite the recent inclusions of Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren, women in the heavily male-dominated series haven't had the best run. Jordana Brewster was cut after four films in the wake of Paul Walker's death, while Elsa Pataky's Elena Nives was shot in the head in the last film.
