12 Legendary Images of Custom Zelda Arcade Cabinets
High Scores Arcade has produced two custom 80s-style arcade cabinets based on The Legend of Zelda -- a game which never appeared in arcades back in the 80s. Check out the image gallery below for a look at both the drop-dead gorgeous final result of their efforts, and a behind-the-scenes look at how the dual cabinets were constructed.
With Donkey Kong, Nintendo scored it's first hit in 1981's arcades. If you are lucky enough to play an original Donkey Kong cabinet -- or Popeye, Mario Bros., or Punch-Out!! -- you'll no doubt note the amazing, art-saturated design of the cabinets as being a large part of those game's charms. High Scores Arcade teamed up with artist Sam Bahman, who built a similar custom Zelda cabinet, to produce their Zelda cabinets to closely resemble Nintendo's original artistry in their classic cabinets.
The Gifted: Meet the New X-Men TV Series Characters
Co-produced with Marvel Television, FOX's new X-Men TV series, The Gifted -- which, unlike FX's Legion is designed to connect to the larger X-Men cinematic universe -- will air at 9/8c on Mondays this fall. The series has unleashed 9 new character bio videos and IGN's got your first look at them!
The Gifted, from Burn Notice creator Matt Nix (who is serving as showrunner) and X-Men film director Bryan Singer (who directed the pilot), focuses on Reed (True Blood's Stephen Moyer) and Caitlin Strucker (Person of Interest/Angel's Amy Acker) and their family's flight from the government when they discover that their children (Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hynes White) have mutant abilities.
Why Game of Thrones Didn’t Get Any Emmy Nominations
The nominees for the 2017 Emmy Awards were revealed earlier today, and Game of Thrones was no where to be found. But why?
Since Season 6 of HBO's beloved fantasy drama premiered on its normal spring air date, the entire season was within the qualifications of the 2016 Emmys, and as such is not eligible for consideration this year.
Even though four episodes of Season 6 aired outside of the qualifying timeframe for this year's Emmys, which spanned from June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017, the Television Academy has a "hanging episodes" rule that allowed for the entire season to be considered, since enough episodes of Season 6 aired within the specified time period.
Mister Miracle #1 Extended Preview
Before taking over as the writer of Batman, Tom King earned critical acclaim for his unique approach to The Vision comic series over at Marvel Comics, and on August 9 he’s debuting another solo series, Mister Miracle for DC Comics. He’s teaming with frequent artistic collaborator Mitch Gerads (The Sheriff of Babylon, Batman) to tell an atypical story about the superhero escape artist created by comic legend Jack Kirby.
Mister Miracle’s origin is one of tragedy and triumph. Long ago, two warring worlds of gods decided to broker a peace treaty, and part of the deal included an exchanging of heirs. So Darkseid of Apokolips swapped his son Orion for Scott Free, the son of Highfather of New Genesis. Scott grew up on the hellish landscape that is Apokolips without ever knowing his true heritage, but there was one glimmer of light: that’s where he met his eventual wife, Big Barda.
