Marvel Wants to Teach You How to Draw

Marvel Comics aims to teach its readers the art of drawing with a new series of variant covers. Today Marvel revealed a new variant cover promotion called "How to Draw," which features humorous, educational covers by Chip Zdarsky (Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man).

So far Marvel has revealed five of the 20 covers included in this promotion. Check them out below:

“I don’t really know how to draw so this whole thing feels quite irresponsible,” said Zdarsky in Marvel's press release.

“I don’t know about everybody out there in Mighty Marveldom, but when I first started collecting comics, one of my hobbies was trying to draw my favorite Marvel heroes and villains,” said editor Devin Lewis (making a somewhat stronger case for these covers). “Carrying on the grand tradition of the classic HOW TO DRAW COMICS THE MARVEL is this series of HOW-TO Variants by Chip Zdarsky, one of the most… unique?... voices in comics today. In addition to giving REALLY ACCURATE instructions about how to draw each of these characters, Chip’s bringing his brand of humor to each and every piece, and we can promise that whether you’re a Marvel fan old or new, at least ONE of these ‘em will give you a chuckle!”

Star Wars: Boyega on Finn Going Undercover in Last Jedi

Finn spent most of Star Wars: The Force Awakens running like hell away from the First Order, who had raised him since childhood to be one of their followers and ultimately a Stormtrooper. Actor John Boyega told IGN today that Finn's next encounter with the First Order in this December's Star Wars: The Last Jedi "doesn't come without a fight" for his character.

As was revealed during Star Wars Celebration, at one point during The Last Jedi Finn is joined by new character Rose (Kelly Marie Tran), a Resistance worker, on a mission that takes them undercover in The First Order. I asked Boyega during a phone interview today how Finn must feel returning to the very organization he so desperately tried to escape from in the previous film.

Furious Director Gives Bourne Legacy 2 Status Update

It's been nearly four years since the news that Fast & Furious director Justin Lin was attached to helm a sequel to 2012's The Bourne Legacy, Universal's franchise spin-off starring Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross. And judging from what Lin had to tell IGN's Terri Schwartz today, that's about as far as his involvement with the proposed film went.

IGN asked Lin about the status of The Bourne Legacy 2 at the Television Critics Association summer press tour today, where he was there to promote S.W.A.T., the new CBS series he's exec producing. "I talk to Jeremy all the time and, technically, it's still in-development but look ...," Lin replied, citing the actor -- who currently plays Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- as the reason why he was interested in a Bourne film to begin with.
