The Gifted Producers on Possibility of Ties to X-Men Films

Fox's upcoming X-Men drama The Gifted exists in a world where the X-Men are gone, but that doesn't mean it will be ignoring the mutant group nor its history.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, The Gifted's producers Matt Nix and Jeph Loeb discussed the idea that the series isn't "X-Men adjacent." Specifically, the two were asked whether the appearance of Blink and Thunderbird/Warpath (who appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past) meant the show is highlighting earlier versions of these characters.

GoT: ‘The Spoils of War’ Sets New HBO Ratings Record

The latest Game of Thrones episode, "The Spoils of War," has set a new ratings record for HBO.

Variety reports the fourth episode in Season 7 pulled in a whopping 10.2 million viewers Sunday night, eclipsing the 10.1 million viewers the Season 7 premiere, "Dragonstone," received just a few weeks ago. The number of views from HBO Go and HBO Now streaming and same-day DVR playback haven't been revealed yet.

To put things into perspective, the Season 7 premiere was the most-viewed HBO episode before "The Spoils of War." It surpassed the Season 6 finale, which pulled in 8.89 million viewers last year. It seems the recent HBO hacks, which resulted in this latest Game of Thrones episode leaking, didn't affect viewership.

Wayward Pines: Season 3 in Early Discussions for FOX

Wayward Pines isn't fully dead at FOX, despite it being off the air for more than a year.

At the 2017 summer TV Critics' Association press tour, FOX President of Entertainment David Madden said he and FOX Television Group CEO Dana Walden will be meeting with M. Night Shyamalan soon to discuss an idea for Season 3.

"Night has talked to both Dana and myself recently about what a third season could be," said Madden. Once they have that meeting, it will be determined whether Wayward Pines will return: "We haven't made any kind of decision yet," Madden continued.

Wayward Pines debuted on FOX in May 2015 with the promise of an M. Night Shyamalan-styled mystery for the small screen. The second season was a bit of a fresh start for the series, though riddled with Easter eggs to Season 1. It's unclear if Season 3 will follow a similar reboot.
