The History of the Many Defenders Teams

They’re the outsiders – the heroes that wouldn’t normally be expected to work together in any sort of organization – so what better way to feature them all in a title of their own than to declare them a “non-team?” Nope, not the Avengers or the FF, nothing to see here! The Defenders have always been a bit off the beaten path, comprised of a bewilderingly strange assortment of Marvel’s B and C-list stars along with some illustrious colleagues from other teams like the Avengers and the X-Men. Over the years, the team has gone through a number of reincarnations, leading up to their big live-action debut on Netflix this summer in an eight-episode run that unites Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist! So for a “non-team,” there have been a heck of a lot of Defenders! But where did this crazy ride begin? Let’s go back to 1971 – oh, what a long time ago that was – and find out…

Marvel’s Inhumans EPs Defend Intensive Visual Effects

Marvel's Inhumans, and particularly the show's visuals, continued to be a topic of discussion at the Television Critics Association press tour. ABC provided the first episode of the show to critics ahead of the Inhumans' TCA panel, and though the backlash to Medusa's hair was addressed earlier by ABC President Channing Dungey, the show's executive producers and cast also defended the show's ambitious visual goals.

Speaking during the Inhumans TCA panel, executive producers Jeph Loeb and Scott Buck, who executive produced the first season of Iron Fist, defended the in-progress pilot, first in response to a question about the Inhuman Karnak's powers seeming vague in the show.

Game of Thrones Director Talks THAT Cliffhanger Ending

Game of Thrones' Season 7 episode "The Spoils of War" earned a rare 10/10 score in IGN's review, and much of that is thanks to the work of director Matt Shakman.

Game of Thrones: Why Bran’s Callback to Littlefinger Is Important

Petyr Baelish, a.k.a. Littlefinger, has been in possession of the catspaw dagger, the Valyrian steel weapon used in an attempt on Bran Stark's life, since Season 1 of Game of Thrones. As we recently discussed, the dagger's been referenced and appeared enough times this season that it has an important role to play -- whether it's simply because of its Valyrian steel and White Walker killing abilities, or something else. A scene between Littlefinger and Bran in "The Spoils of War" suggests that "something else."

How Marvel’s Spider-Man Animated Series Connects to Guardians

Spider-Man: Homecoming was the first Spider-Man film in recent years to skip Peter Parker's origin story. Disney XD's upcoming animated series Marvel's Spider-Man will follow suit. Kind of.

Peter's arachnid bite beginning unfolded in shorts released online ahead of the premiere episode on the network. By the time the audience encounters a 15-year-old Peter on Disney XD, he's had his powers for bit, but he's still in the early days of figuring out what he's capable of doing -- all while navigating the ins and outs Horizon High, where he was recently accepted.

Check out an exclusive clip from Marvel's Spider-Man below!

The newness of it all is part of Peter's development in this iteration of Spider-Man. The voice of Peter Parker and Spider-Man, Robbie Daymond, told IGN, "Peter doesn't settle into his powers for a little while in this. So when you watch some of the earlier clips and are like, 'Why isn't he...' You'll see he's still learning and we stick with that a little bit longer in this series."
