As part of its annual Google I/O event, Google has officially announced the third phone in its Google Pixel 6 series — the Pixel 6a.

The Pixel 6a will launch on July 21 and will retail for $449. Like the other two phones in the lineup, the Pixel 6a does include the Tensor AI chip and will include features, such as Magic Eraser, which will allows you to remove unwanted objects from your photos, such as a photobomber.

Alongside the announcement of a third phone in the Pixel 6 series, Google also confirmed that it plans to release the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro smartphones this fall. While not a ton of details were shared on the next generation of Pixel smartphones, Google did share a few images of what both devices will look like as seen in the screenshot below.

The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro launched last October and has become the fastest-selling Pixel phone yet, according to Google. In our Pixel 6 review, we praised the phone's cameras and competitive pricing, rewarding the device with a nine on our review scale.

In comparison, the Pixel 6 Pro received a 10 out of 10, with my colleague Kevin Lee praising the fact it offered a ton of features commonly found in high-end smartphones, such as a 120Hz refresh rate, stellar cameras, and superb battery life, all while keeping the price under $1,000.

The first Superbad is a classic comedy film that’s still loved today. Yet, somehow, it still hasn’t gotten a sequel despite earning $170 million at the box office in 2007. And according to Judd Apatow, who produced the film, it's the stars who aren't on board.

According to an interview with Apatow on the “Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum” podcast, he doesn’t understand why the stars of the original aren’t clamoring to join him in making a sequel.

“I know that Jonah said, ‘Oh it’ll be funny to do it when we’re 70 or 80,’ but I really wanted them to do a ‘Superbad’ in college where Jonah flunks out of college and just shows up and visits Michael Cera at college.”

In January 2022, Superbad star Jonah Hill said he’d make an “old-folks-home-Superbad” when the cast is all 80, but Apatow thinks that a second one could be just as good as the first. In the interview, he says the cast expressed concern that they’d “screw up Superbad” by making a “crappy second one.” So far, it looks like Apatow is alone in wanting a sequel.

Even Hill’s fellow co-stars Michael Cera and Seth Rogen have sworn off committing to a sequel. Cera expressed his own reluctance and that the rest of the cast was “staunchly against” a sequel in Esquire’s Explain This series.

Rogen, who co-wrote and starred in Superbad, told LADBible in 2020 he’d “100% probably never touch” Superbad again. His reasoning? He doesn’t think it “requires improvement or anything to be built upon it.”

Apatow has been busy, though. His Netflix exclusive film The Bubble was released early last month. In our review, we said it “scores with an awesome cast but fizzles in meta-concept and design.”

Senator Josh Hawley has proposed a bill that, if successful, would see Disney immediately lose the copyright for the original Mickey Mouse.

As reported by Deadline, the bill would ultimately reduce copyright protections from 95 years to 56 if it passes, meaning Disney would lose its older copyrights.

While the bill itself generically refers to entertainment or theme park corporations with a market capitalization of more than $150 billion, Hawley mentions "woke corporations like Disney" before blatantly saying "it's time to take away Disney's special privileges".

He said in a press release: "The age of Republican handouts to Big Business is over. Thanks to special copyright protections from Congress, woke corporations like Disney have earned billions while increasingly pandering to woke activists. It’s time to take away Disney’s special privileges and open up a new era of creativity and innovation."

The bill is the latest in a string of Republican moves against Disney after the company spoke against the Parental Rights in Education Law, which bars discussion of gender identity from kindergarten until grade three.

Fans have been requesting an MCU debut for Tom Cruise for years, and many thought they'd finally see the day in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Unfortunately, it turns out that was never really on the cards – but that doesn't mean writer Michael Waldron didn't ask about it.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, Waldron revealed that Cruise was never a part of the Doctor Strange sequel – despite a running fan theory that he would appear as Superior Iron Man:

“Yeah, that was totally made up,” he said. “I mean, there’s no cut footage of Tom Cruise!"

Although Cruise’s cameo was entirely fictional, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t considered: "I love Tom Cruise, and I said to [Marvel Studios president] Kevin [Feige] at one point, I was like, ‘Could we get Tom Cruise’s Iron Man?’ I remember reading about that in Ain’t It Cool News back in the day, that Tom Cruise was going to be Iron Man.”

“As it was being talked about online, I was like, ‘Yeah, that’d be cool!’” continued Waldron. But when he floated the idea to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, he was reminded that Cruise was already busy shooting Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

Waldron said he doesn't believe Cruise was ever asked as a result. “I just don’t think it was ever an option, because of availability.”

With all of this in mind, could Tom Cruise reappear in the role of Iron Man in the future? Don't necessarily count on it. After losing out on Iron Man to Robert Downey Jr., Cruise's career took a very different turn. In fact, Cruise has since stated that he just doesn’t make those kinds of movies.

“Look, I really enjoy those films a lot. I enjoy them,” he said back in 2016. “But I make the Missions and Reacher. Just different kind of films.”

Either way, Marvel’s upcoming slate is already pretty packed, so if Cruise ever does suit up as an alternate version of Iron Man, it’s likely going to just be a fun cameo. But I wouldn’t bet my arc reactor on it.

An orchestral composer whose music has appeared in several film trailers including Avengers: Endgame has transformed the Elden Ring theme into 15 different styles of music.

Alex Moukala, who also makes tons of video game music content on YouTube — including the legendary 30-person Wii jam session — uploaded a video of himself playing Elden Ring's main theme in every style from Spanish guitar to trap and traditional Japanese.

Sharing the video in a tweet (below), Moukala asks the question we didn't know needed answered: "What if Elden Ring took place in a multiverse where the soundtrack keeps changing?"

The full list of genres are: Spanish guitar, nu-disco, symphonic metal, smooth jazz, lo-fi hip hop, darksynth, movie trailer, piano solo, baroque, reggae, big room house, French house, trap, traditional Japanese, and orchestral.

The end result is pretty epic and showcases another way in which fans have been engrossed in Elden Ring since it was released in February. One player got the Fisher Price toy controller working with the game, while another has made a VR version of Elden Ring.

Someone has beaten a boss using the Nintendo Switch Ring Fit controller, while others completed the game without taking damage or dealing damage.

In our 10/10 review, IGN said: "Elden Ring is a massive iteration on what FromSoftware began with the Souls series, bringing its relentlessly challenging combat to an incredible open world that gives us the freedom to choose our own path."

LEGO has teased a long awaited Transformers set, possibly featuring an original-style Optimus Prime.

Very little was said about the new set in its reveal tweet (below) but LEGO did promise that the "epic build" was arriving in June.

While this is the first official word of a Transformers set, LEGO news website The Brick Fan (which has reported accurately on rumours in the past) released some potential details earlier this week.

The set will apparently be based on the original, generation one Optimus Prime and includes 1,508 pieces, and yes, you supposedly can transform the build between truck and robot without removing pieces.

The rumoured price is €169.99, and likely $169.99, with Euros usually matching USD when it comes to LEGO sets. The set is also said to include Optimus Prime's Ion Blaster, Energon Axe, the Allspark, and a jetpack, plus a plaque similar to the Ultimate Collector Series line.

This Transformers collaboration is just the latest major entertainment franchise LEGO has partnered with, joining Back to the Future's DeLorean time machine as one of the more expensive sets to release recently.

It's also entered the gaming world with forays into Sonic the Hedgehog - with the Green Hill Zone set - and the Super Mario world with three separate series. PlayStation exclusive Horizon: Forbidden West even got the LEGO treatment with a Tallneck set that IGN absolutely loved building.
