10 Original Xbox Games We Want Backward Compatible

This year, Microsoft announced that the Xbox One and Xbox One X are now compatible with original Xbox games, not just Xbox 360 ones. Thirteen games have been announced for the program, including fan-favourites like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Ninja Gaiden: Black, but it got us thinking - what else might be on the way? Here are the 10 original Xbox games we’d love to play on Xbox One.

Known for crazy detailed, cel-shaded animation and awesome music, Jet Set Radio Future was one of the coolest original Xbox titles, with so, so much style. Most of what you actually do is graffiti over other people’s tags, but to do that, you’ve gotta rollerblade through an alluring, futuristic version of Tokyo where freedom of expression isn’t allowed. Sometimes, that even takes you across the back of a 200-foot dragon, because why not?

Nintendo Switch Production to Increase Significantly in 2018

Nintendo is reportedly planning to make between 25 and 30 million Switch consoles in 2018.

Beginning in April, the start of the next fiscal year, Nintendo will significantly ramp up production of the popular handheld/console hybrid, and has already informed some of its business partners, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The plan is still in its early stages, and Nintendo intends to monitor holiday sales closely and make necessary adjustments in the event demand merits a further increase in the number of units it plans to produce.

The Switch released this past March, and between then and the end of September, Nintendo reportedly sold 7.63 million units. The company plans to sell an additional 9.1 million units by March of next year, according to its October quarterly earnings report. If Nintendo meets that goal, total Switch sales would be almost 17 million units.

The 10 Best Family Board Games

Family board game nights are a great way to spend an evening bonding with loved ones. But it can be tricky to select a family game that's deep but still accessible, and fun for both kids and adults. Over the last couple of decades, designer board games have skyrocketed in popularity and complexity. Today, it’s not uncommon for games to take several hours to learn and play. That kind of commitment can be tough for family game nights when time is precious. It’s a good thing then that there are plenty of immensely clever games out there that take mere minutes to learn, and yet have enough meat on their cardboard bones to appease the strategy-hungry among us.

For family game night theme must also be considered. It may not be appropriate for younger players to blast zombies in Zombicide, and the dry renaissance setting of something like The Princes of Florence may bore some. They're both great games, but not for everyone. There are plenty of more lively and exciting themes out there, though, like giant monster fights and high speed car racing. All it takes is a bit of research.

Marvel’s Loss of Brian Bendis Is DC’s Monumental Gain

The comic book industry was rocked to its foundation when DC Comics announced that longtime Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis signed an exclusive, multi-year contract to work for them.

Switching between the Big Two publishers is common in the comic book industry, but given Bendis produced a highly successful body of work exclusively for Marvel over the past 18 years*, a switch of this magnitude hasn’t happened since Jack Kirby - co-creator of Fantastic Four, Captain America, X-Men and numerous other icons - left Marvel for DC back in 1970. Marvel has not only lost a writer but a creative visionary, a smart business man, and an original IP machine - all things DC will now reap the benefits of.

If you just want to get up to speed for Zach Snyder’s upcoming movie, this might be the best way to do it. It’s not the grandest title on this list, but it might be the most contained, limiting itself to a fairly straightforward tale of how the whole gang got together. As DC Comics go, few paths are as well-trodden as a Justice League origin story — it’s been re-told more times than Batman’s been brought back from the dead. But Geoff Johns has a flair for clipping plots, and he gives this particular iteration of the story a thrilling momentum that emboldens the stakes. Speaking of Johns, he's the co-head of DC Films and has been deeply involved in the movie's creation, so what better Justice League comic to read than his?
