Gotham Is Going Musical with Sweeney Todd Tribute
It's a strange time for the citizens of Gotham. When Season 4 kicked off, crime was suddenly legal and the police were essentially the cronies of Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), thanks to his Pax Penguina criminal licensing program. With the arrival of the show's newest supervillain though, that's all changed.
Professor Pyg (Michael Cerveris) brings something new to the table of evil in Gotham. He's a psychotic murderer with a flare for the dramatic that has no problem chopping up the police into little bits, if only to show how corrupt they are. Now, with Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) becoming captain of the GCPD, tensions are the highest they've ever been.
Gordon wants things to get back to normal, pre-Pax Penguina, Pyg wants to kill anyone who stands in his way of cleansing the city and Oswald wants to keep his stranglehold on Gotham. It's impossible for all three of these things to happen and, based on the trailer for the next episode, Let Them Eat Pie, it's all about to come to a head. IGN spoke with Taylor about the episode and how takes the show in a very unexpected musical direction. The actor also opens up about the Penguin's evolving connection to Jim Gordon and his desperate need for love and trust.
Arms Update Adds Splatfest-Style Public Events
Arms' latest update is now out, and it adds a new fighter and multiplayer event mode.
Update 4.0 introduces a masked character named Misango, whose fighting style changes whenever his mask changes color. Blue increases Misango's movement, while red increases damage and yellow enhances Misango's Rush moves. There's no way to control the color changes, forcing players to adapt on the fly.
The update also adds Arms' first in-game event, called Party Crash, which is quite similar to Splatoon's Splatfest events. By participating, players will earn points and raise their Lab levels. At the end of the event, players will use their levels to collect Arms currency and badges.
How Cuphead Came to Have a Cup for a Head
Coming up with the design for Cuphead's main character required a lot of trial and error at Studio MDHR, and the game's creators have come forward to discuss how the iconic cup-for-a-head look came to fruition.
"Cuphead and Mugman came from the tail end of the concept phase, where we were like, 'none of these that we have work,'" art director Chad Moldenhauer explained on the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered.
So, in an effort to find some fresh inspiration, Chad started paying specific attention to the backgrounds of the cartoons he was watching, rather than the characters. As an example, he mentioned a palm tree he spotted in the background of a cartoon, which then led him to try designing a palm-tree-headed character.
Watch Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Fight Aliens in Space
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD ended Season 4 with one heck of a cliffhanger, and IGN's first look at Season 5 proves that the upcoming premiere will pick up right from where things left off.
Check out this exclusive clip from the Season 5 premiere, airing December 1st, which gives a hint at who exactly ended up in outer space with Coulson, and what they might be up against:
Season 4's cliffhanger ending hinted at a time jump that seems to be present here -- after all, everyone seems to be way too comfortable fighting aliens in space. For more of a hint at what's ahead in the two-hour Season 5 premiere, here's our breakdown of the episode's first scene, which was shown at New York Comic Con.
